Odd. I don't remember where I heard he was executed. I think it was his own comment towards the end of the OVA, something in the lines of him being sure he was going to be executed for treason or something.

I didn't say criticism was irrelevant... I simply said to give the game a break. Its not as rough as you thinkg. In FF, what was better, the fact that you could customize your party right off the bat, or the cliche, tried and true plot? I vote for the job system. In FF2, what was better? The clunky over complicated system or the story and unique characters? I vote for the story and unique characters. I will give this one a break because dispite overly complicated system... it was inovative. In FF3, what was better? The improvements and the insane amount of job classes you could pick, or the tried and true story line? I vote for jobs. In FF4, what was better? The great story and great characters or the run of the mill learn as you go system? I vote for story and characters. In FF5, what was better? The improved job system, or the tried and true story line with dumb characters? I vote for jobs, and the ability to beat the game on level 9. In FF6, what was less painful? The story or the unrefined magicite system? (both were equaly bad) I vote not to play this game again. In FF7, what was better? The cliched story, or the suberb materia system? Materia system In FF8, what was less painful? The story and characters, or the completly unrefined and idiotic junction system? I vote to forget this game ever existed. In FF9, what was better? The slightly ripped off story and characters, or the equipment/skill system? Tough call. In FFX, what was less painful? The bad plot, bad characters and bad everything or the bad grid system? Lets forget this game existed. I would say... its pretty clear cut. Its my opinion.... but then again, this is all about personal opinion, isn't it?

Rogue Squadron 3 delayed!!!!!

Actually... Factor 5 explained why the Xbox and the PS2 couldn't handle the game. It had something to do with the GC being able to handle far more layers of texture then the Xbox and the PS2 could. Porting the game would mean slightly downgrading the graphics and removing progressive scan capability. P.S. It was moved because the games section is for Macross games only. -
We don't see him getting executed. We only hear the fact.

The only overly long summons in FF7 were Bahamut Neo, Zero and Knights of the Round. And even then none of them could be compared to the length of summons such as Alexander, Eden and Bahamut from FF8. Had FF on its name.... still FF. Chocobo was a spin off and it did not have FF on its name. You also forget Chocobo Mystery dungeaon. Can't argue with that. Err... no. Ghaleon was lame simply because he got his ass kick by a angst ridden toddler named Alex... and then turning soft when Zophar was ready to destroy the blue star (or was it silver star?) Changing jobs isn't exacly changing party members. I mean.... literally. You only had 4 members all the time in 5, while in 6 you had like 8 to 10. Which in my opinion decreased the level of character development. Seriously!! Being able to equip nothing but a weapon and bangle was rather.... odd. And don't get me started on FF8 lack of equipment. Yeah... but other then being simply normal attacks that simply drove the numbers sky high... desperation attacks were nothing like limit breakers. When I said focus... I did mean as in "Hey! Its the job system again!!". You get to chose the job, each job has its limitations. Combining the right character classes were much of a strategy then anything else. Thats debatable. Each person would have their own opinion on what would be more significant, as the retargeting would have been a natural evolution for anyone with half a brain (and yet Camelot seems to be unable to implement that on Golden Sun <_< ). The fact that it features classes that would never ever again be featured in any other game, is what really struck me as unique in FFIII. Thats also debatable.... as half of it were really unneccessary and simply helped the gamer not to throw his controller at the TV out of boredom. .Most ppl I know only played it for the story as the game system bordered unplayable. I liked it... it was far better, plot wise, then 7 and 10. Can't really say you are missing much.... bad plot and the worst couple in video game history do not make a good game. It sure as heck beats getting the predefined magic user, that has killer magic but if so much as a feather touches him/her they die. The predefined brawler/defender, good at taking hits but never good at helping out in a boss battle. The predefined hero, good at everything. The predefined hybrid, jack of all trades master of none , never seem to be able to do anything right. The predefined thief, gets hit once and died, plus the annoying luck factor when stealing.

The old Vector based Arcade game I think. -
Tenchu Crimson? Thats an odd name.

Thank goodness they refined it. I hated the bug-eyed look of the Barzam -- this is way cooler. What about its claws!! its claws!!
-
LOL. All that happen... was that the cilinder just stood there for a while. Seriously.... it was like a 4 mile high building smack dab where the city used to be. I don't remember if it exploded or not after wards.... but i'm inclined to say yes. But stil!! Why not show the suckers face?
-
This Brazam is called refined Barzam. And it lost the insect look of the original Barzam.

I was under the impression that the Federation didn't care much for Jaburo because it was already planned to move the central HQ to Tibet. That would mean that this colony suffered substancial damage so that most of its structure was pulverized in reentry. Thats why we don't see much damage to the landscape. But the funny thing is.... we do see the effect of a full colony drop. In ZZ a colony drops, successfully on a city in Europe... and the damage was not nearly as "dramatic" as what happened to Sidney. Then why show him? He must be a character of fair importance for him to be shown in such "dramatic" way.

Alien vs. Predator Movie Next August
Abombz!! replied to glane21's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
One can hope that at least the CG Aliens will look good. Those aliens in Resurection were inferior even to the rubber suits in Aliens. <_< Lets hope they cast Jean Claude Van Damme as the lead Predator this time around. -
Alien vs. Predator Movie Next August
Abombz!! replied to glane21's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well... sure. But then again... most ppl who bash the movie, will eventually watch it, no matter what they say now. -
Gato and Nina didn't suddenly become love interests - they apparently had a relationship before 0083, and that is why Nina is so torn whenever Kou goes out to fight with Gato - her former love interest, whom she obviously still has feelings for, and the person she is now interested in are going out trying to kill each other. At least to me, it was pretty clear that this was the case... hehe, i'm glad someone else remembered, i hat being the only one. also, i have to watch it again, but i seem to remember the same way fulcy does, that they were love interests when anaheim was training gato and his men on the suits they built... isnt she almost taken off the project in favor of that other one because it was happening again with kou? They were suddenly lovers. They explained the whol back ground thing. But why didn't the sight of Gato suddenly bring back flashback of when she was with him? Not only did she see him.... she also heard his name over and over again. The moment she started wishing for Kou not to fight Gato was way too sudden. Usually.... when 2 anime characters have some sort of love connection like that.... seeing each other after a long time, usually trigger some sort of response on one of them... neither Gato nor Nina had that kind of responce untill later on in the OVA. And if they were so lovey dovey like they made them to be.... the reaction would've been much more obvious. <_< Usually... if 2 characters are to be lovers.... you don't simply drop all the info on the viewers after having made the 2 characters meet. If they are really lovers.... the first time they meet, there will be some indication of that.

Well, I don't know why these fans are buying so many 0083 models then. OO83 is a cash cow for Bandai; for one of the worst gundam shows to date, thats pretty impressive. 0083 was released around the time of F91, and it was expected F91 was going to be the big Gundam story everyone was going to talk about...heh heh. Bad shows don't necesseraly have to have bad mecha. As for it being a cash cow.... I don't see where you get that idea. I haven't seen an abundance of 0083 mecha. And you are wrong. Last Blitz of Zeon (the compilation movie, which makes the OVA even worst) was release along side F91, not the OVA. Bandai just made a PG GP01... because its a good design.

Barzam is a Zeta Gundam MS. It is a slightly altered Gundam MKII.

At least to me, it was pretty clear that this was the case... I didn't mean it that way. I meant it... that in the story there was no proof that Gato and Nina had a thing. When Gato hijacked the GP02 Nina clearly saw him, and yet nothing "clicked". And besides... they weren't supposed to have a thing. They did simply because half way through the series, the production crew changed slightly.

Really? Maybe it's because I've only seen a coupe of Gundam movies (Char's Counterattack, Stardust Memories, and F91), but 0083 is one of my favorite Gundam movies of all time. I pretty much fell in love with the movie (that's what confuses me.....was 0083 a series or movie.....where did Stardust Memories come from?) when I saw the Dendrobium fight the Neu Ziel. The mecha was actually the saving grace of the series...... B) Yep. Its because you haven't been tainted by continuity that you like 0083. B)

One thing I don't get. Some ppl here are clearly RPG elitist, and thats quite obvious. They clearly bash FF7s story. But if they were really RPG elitist.... they would realize that odd numbered FFs always concentrate of game system while even numbered FFs concentrate on story and character. Lets look at them all, shall we? FFI: the first FF. Lets give it a break, it had a decent story for its time and absolutly no character development. Heck, none of the character had a personality. What was the focus point? The job system. FFII: each character was unique, and the story was fairly entertaining, to say the least. What about game system? Meh... nothing particularly special that would be worth mentioning. FFIII: once again, it featured shallow, featureless characters (Onion kid anyone?), and run of the mill plot. The Job system!! With 30 or so Job classes, the main point of this game was to play as a Dark Knight, or Viking.... some of the Job classes that would never be available again in any other game. FFVI: Character and story to die for. Game system? Each character had its own class, and each of them learned spells as they grew. A system that, back then, had already been massed produced. FFV: While the characters were unique, and had development, they weren't all that great. The story was campy at best. It featured a down graded, yet deeper, job system, that featured only a few classes. Interesting system that only FF and Dragon Quest seem to have mastered. FFVI: Err.... I don't really know what Square was thinking with this one. Some of the character went through alot of development, while others were just too uninteresting. The story was fairly good. it first introduced selectable party members, and the magic system was.... err, a variation of the typical learn as you go. I consider this to be FFs heretic, though it featured the best RPG villian to date, the maniac Kefka. FFVII: Cloud was the only character to be really developed in here. The story was your typical "lets save the world". Was a little heavy on FMVs. As for a system, it featured the Materia system, which is by far the best magic system to grace a FF game or any RPG. It introduced the Limit break system, that would be copied in every other RPG to come out after FFVII. And as last merit.... Sephiroth is the second best vilian in any RPG, and the first futuristic FF.. FFVIII: Fairly good characters, each recieved a fairly good amount of development. Story was its major achievement. Most player forced themselves to play this game because the story was that good. As for magic system... the junction system was the worst idea Square could have come up with. Its completly unbalanced and annoying. It introduced overly long summons (I will never call that a merit). FOr its merit.... Ragnarok is the best "airship" to ever grace FF. FFIX: Some characters we well developed, some weren't. The story was so-so. The game system was another variation of the learn as you go system, but with a twist, you really had to spend time learning those skills. FFX: I didn't like its story. Tidus and Yuna are the worst couple to date. Yuna was the ugliest main female I have ever seen. She was not charismatic at all. The story was interesting, although a little too religion heavy. The grid system sucked. It was once again a variation of the job system. Its main problem.... giving the player the ability to break 9999 damage limit made the game way too easy. FF Tactics: Had everything perfect. No need to discuss it. Then theres FF11.... and for now, I bet Square will break the tradition of the odd=system even=story tradition. I really think they should have named it FF Online. See? Give FF7 a break. The main attraction of FF7 was its system. And the so called "RPG Elitists" should've known that. P.S. To those who had the patience to read all this BS.... please feel free to add or correct.

AH! But do you like english dubbed J-pop songs? eyes on me was (FFVIII) an okay song.... *prepares for massive barrage of insults....* err.. Eyes on Me was meant to be an English song... at least the original Faye Wong version is sung in English. In and of itself, taking in the cultural context, FFX-2 has its appeal, at least I liked the opening song... well, I'm an avid J-pop fan If they dare dub it in the American release though........ How was Kingdom Heart's dubbed song? The original Japanese version by Hikaru Utada was quite nice, never got a chance (or the guts :-p) to listen to the English verion. Both are good songs. Each songs extended version is very similar to the other, with different lyrics. As for the remixed version (the one that plays in the intro), they have different beats, and slightly different rythms. If it wasn't for my inability to find the extended english version.... I would listen to both. As for Eyes on me.... it was meant to be in english, not rushedly dubbed for an american release. The same can be said about Xenogears ending song and I'm the Wind from Castelvania: Symphoni of the Night. But one thing I don't get.... why translate the songs in FFX-2? FFX had "Suteki da ne?" (for those who don't know, its the ending song, and the song that plays during Tidus and Yuna first kiss) unaltered in the American release. <_<

Rogue Squadron 3 delayed!!!!!
Abombz!! replied to Macross_Fanboy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Why?Because the PS2 cannot handle those graphics. Heck... not even the Xbox could, and thats a fact. B) As for the best Star Wars game..... X-Wing Alliance is the best SW game to date. As for Rogue Leader 2..... I just hope it had more substance then the first RL. The first one was a great looking game, but it lacked levels. -
While we are in the topic of Gundams.... 0083 in particular... who was the white haired guy who walked into the Alexandria class carrier in the end of the OVA? I know Capt. Sinapse was executed.... so it couldn't have been him.
-
Now you know why some Gundam fans consider 0083 to be one of the worst Gundam show to date. The OVA has massive plotholes, such as the target of the colony drop, the over powered MSs, the fact that Gato and Nina suddenly became love interests. To be honest.... don't take the fact in 0083 too seriously. Simply enjoy it for its suberb animation, and ignore most of the story. It could have been the effect of the Solar System super weapon used to stop the colony. There was heavy structural damage. But then again.... the colony that hit Sidney had been blown to piece by the Federation as it passed through reentry.... and still managed to turn Sidney into a huge lagoon.
