On mine, they don't line up evenly making the hips just slightly out of sync. It's mostly noticeable when in ship mode. They also don't lock in, at all, meaning the legs will just "fall out" of place when transformed. This carries over to gattai mode where the figure will be unstable unless I jam its hip into place. Even then, the hip will pop out and it's all flop-flop-flop again. While the swing out hip joint was, I'm sure, a neat idea in concept, on my figure it fails miserably. The same again for Ideon which has the same general concept, and will suddenly fold itself in half backwards if I'm not careful.

Macross variable fighter/mecha pose thread
QuinJester replied to Wicked Ace's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Post the disco fever picture. You know you want to. -
I eagerly anticipate my space truck, so I can make a Ideon/Xabungle/Daimos display. The revised Voltes I'm less enthusiastic about, since I already have a bullshit hips V1 sitting on my shelf that I want to drown in superglue just to make him manageable. If they revise the hips, I'll consider getting a new one. If not, forget it. THe hips are the only damn thing wrong with Voltes. Too bad they're such a nightmarish problem.

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models
QuinJester replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Well, for a show display, it gives passers-by a look at the detailing that would otherwise be lost under all the bright halogen lights and white plastic, so in that sense it's reasonable enough. -
Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
QuinJester replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Of course not. Everyone just seems hell bent on this "Bandai is telling Kawamori to shove it, clearly" explanation for why the VF-25 doesn't look like it's been put through a trash compacter. You can like it, or dislike it, as much as you .. ahem.. like. -
Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
QuinJester replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
For all we know, it looks the way it does BECAUSE Kawamori asked for it to be that way. -
He was being facetious. As far as we know, there are no changes planned at all.

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models
QuinJester replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It's a show display and they want it lined up that way and to stay that way. My company has taped and screwed down locomotive displays to keep them from rolling around (or worse, being stolen) plenty of times at trade shows. -

Klan is totally a valk girl in the opening of this episode. For this alone, this episode is gold. -

New 1/72 finished pics http://ga.sbcr.jp/mplamo/010979/ I like the violet canopy. Looks like no foil stickers for the stripes. Either clear stickers or water slides. -

QuinJester replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Molded stripes are possible, certainly. Bandai did something similar on the MG Hi-Nu kit on the shield, that was pretty neat: Stripes aren't the hardest thing in the world to paint, fortunately, so if it's required I wont mind too much. -
I can't honestly think of a single instance where they have, at least with their various gokin lines. They usually release the different versions with different accessories at the same time, though.

I recommend this photo...up? http://gamu-toys.info/goukin/yamato/60vf1a/01.html He certainly wasted no time getting a photo review up

It's a pity the Brocken isn't in the brave line like the Ingrams or Griffon. Hopefully CM's have stepped up the QC from the Peacemaker though, otherwise I'll have to pass

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
QuinJester replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The Yamato dog has ratchets in the toes (at least, the fixed versions), elbows, and knees. It could definitely benefit (even the fixed ones) from ratchets in the shoulders and hips. The shoulders are tight to the point of it being awkward to reposition because it sticks, and yet if you put a gun in its hand it still wants to droop. Yamato's definitely no stranger to ratchets... most if not all of their valks have ratchet knees, elbows and feet. I just wish they'd ... use more. Hips especially. Ball joints are great on smaller figures, but when it's a heavy piece like an SV-51 or something, there's nothing like a good clicky joint for stability and peace of mind. -

QuinJester replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
... so the skirting of the ratchet question means no ratchet hips, huh? Oh well. I secretly hope the 11 will be oversized to be closer to the 19 and 21 height as opposed to VF-1 sized. I suppose it's not really a secret though if I say it outright. -
Honestly? The Toynami Superposable.

"Discontinued" is HLJ speak for "Out of Stock"

It's the model kit, not the DX toy.

Transformers Super Thread 7
QuinJester replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
... or maybe I'll just steal someone else's photos who's already shown it: Original photos by Peaugh from TFW2005.com The folding groin(bot)/Neck(dino) piece should fold all the way up so that the pieces lock in, with the lower jaw going into the gap on the top piece, essentially the way the instructions say to put the pieces during the initial stages of transformation. You then have to ignore the fact that it says to disconnect them and swing it down again and have both it and the groin peg meet halfway. If necessary I'll still take some more in-depth step-by-step photos when I get home. -

QuinJester replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Then you're in luck; the instructions are absolute pants and tell you how to do it wrong, when properly done there is no gap and his dino face integrates well with the chest. I'll take some pics when I get home from work today. -
So... you agree with Eriku then?

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models
QuinJester replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The Tokyo Toy Show was mid-june, so they're still older pics unfortunately. I'm interested in seeing/hearing/knowing what other offering Bandai is considering for this line. VF-117's (if they don't make it into DX form) would be awfully nice.
