Heh... two of the funniest "underworld" movies ever made...right up there with Payback. Nothing like seeing scum get whats coming to them.
-
I have a Hack to nominate: Michael Moore. God...talk about a windbag and a jackass.

Yea...I know. However, at least this is a start of what hopefully will turn out to be HG paying more attention to SC/TRM in the future. I can hope....

Looking for ROBOTECH the movie UNTOLD STORY
1st Border Red Devil replied to SledgeHammer's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Not quite. Its MegaZone 23 in full with 10 minutes of new ending footage and some footage from SC/TRM....mostly from Danger Zone, Triumvirate and Clone Chamber and The Hunters. I know this because I own a really crappy copy....and Im an SC fan. I've watched a total of three times. Its only redeeming factor is some of the music which is not on the Robotech soundtrack. Personally...Im rather glad HG has said no to this abomination. -
Well....safe to say that the Macross Cannon's can execute a space fold. Given their mass...couldnt they also generate a barrier of some type? As for Palladium....par for the course. I like KS (he's a nice guy....got to meet him and Maryann back at DragonCon in '01) but the Robotech and Macross II RPGs are riddled with goofs......every one based on the animes (as opposed to sourcebooks based on new material). Underestimating the sizes of the ships is notable. However, to be fair, only SDF Macross had scads of information that gave such things as dimensions. Misidentifying armament levels was another problem area that Palladium had when making the games. ::shrugs:: There are now dedicated sites that have the information we need such as that provided by Nanashi.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury
1st Border Red Devil posted a topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well.... seems that tie-ins of movies and animation is becoming more popular. First there was The Animatrix and then Clone Wars. Now there is The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury. Peter Chung (of Aeon Flux fame) is at the helm again and the designs look somewhat interesting. The story is about Riddick just after the events of Pitch Black. Supposed to be coming out June 15th. -
Stunned Japan Agonizes Over Schoolgirl Stabbing

Yea....beheading enemies in battle never occured as little as 60 yrs ago in Japanese culture .... -
I'd buy it to burn it and piss on the ashes. Personally Im waiting for the anime version to come to our shores as it is much truer to the novel than that piece of crap that Verhoeven pawned off on the world. As for the sequel.....um.....JUST SAY NO TO CRACK!

A little help. Looking for a good mech series.
1st Border Red Devil replied to Effect's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
If ya want a movie that is close to Mospeada in all but mecha design (and even then its close) look for the Rhea Gall Force movie...really good. Armor Hunter Mellowlink is not to bad too (and its in the Votoms shared universe). -
Well.... while the proportion may be off a bit, the ATAC Armor (male and female) both have fewer solid plates than other SC armors. The lace up of the armor clearly shows that the breastplate extends to just below the ribcage only where it attaches to the undersuit. This is to allow for mobility of the pilot.

Actually...its based on the sketch of Jeanne's armor in This is Animation Special #10: The Southern Cross that shows the PR-20 with a recoil suppression stock (I know this because I did a writeup of the PR-20 for the Robotech.com Infopedia). As for the pistol grip....to be fair...it isnt built directly at the end of the weapon.

Heh.... maybe. Doug truly was a nice guy. I don't want to give the impression that Im demeaning him in any way. Yea...there was that aspect to it. Had heard that Hirano was involved....and I truly believe he must have been doing some serious drugs at the time....my guess is black tar heroin (Hah...got the spelling right this time! ) I guess everyone has one project they truly wonder why they got involved.

Well.... back from a weekend away at JACON (Japanese Anime Convention of Orlando). Had a blast. Took in some Voice Actor panels: Brett Weaver (from Sorcerer Hunters) was cool, George Lowe (voice of Space Ghost on Space Ghost Coast to Coast) was an absolute riot, and Doug Smith (from BGC: 2040) who showed how to become a VA without truly having training (though I must confess to not be interested in doing VA work). Watched some anime: Macross Zero eps. 1&2. Still don't like it at all after a year of not watching it to see if it got better. Got to chat with my fellow Rt.commer FuzzyVT (who ran the Robotech panel) and make plans for MetroCon to see if we can get all the Robotech, Macross, SC and Mospeada fans in Central Florida together. And took in a couple of other panels....the most memorable being the Friday night panel: Anime that truly sucks! God...did they ever get the name of that panel correct. For anyone that wants to see some truly horrid stuff you need look no further than the 2 big stinkers of the panel: Magnos the Robot ($10 on DVD now) and Apocalypse Zero (I cant remember who licensed it in the US at the moment). I had expected to have to defend Southern Cross but the fella running the panel actually liked SC (which was a relief). Anyway...back to the topic at hand. Magnos the Robot is a typical (in many ways) Giant Robot show from the 70s. Really bad animation, rehashed plot concerning the pilots and the robot....with some truly GOOFY twists. The most obvious shlocky moment is when the name of the main enemy is revealed: Xerxes Tire Iron Dada . I dont know if Ive joked more about anything in recent memory than this. So...if ya want an anime to MST3K....this would be your best bet.....which is good cause its dirt cheap! As for Apocalypse Zero...well...the creators must have truly been on drugs (my guess would be straight up black tar heroine) to even think up something as truly disgusting and bizarre as this series.

The real Dana Sterling....
1st Border Red Devil replied to 1st Border Red Devil's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Actually... Melissa Newman, according to several webpages (specifically The New York Times), lists one of her credits as One Dark Night. That movie appears in several places with information about the daughter of Paul Newman. I believe that its simply the same actress, but IMDB has her listed twice. You can also find info on her under the name Lissy Newman. -
Ok.... I managed to finally find a pic of the elusive Melissa Newman (daughter of actor Paul Newman).....on Joanne Woodward's website no less. Took me a long time and all I have to say is....WOW! She is quite a beautiful lady! Melissa is on the left side of the pic. This pic is from the 1994 Critics Awards, making Melissa about 32-33 (not exactly sure what day it aired). I saved it to my computer so as to not have a link to the webpage on the offchance the Newman's decide that my bit of cheek is too much. Enjoy!

SW Episode III: Birth of the Empire
1st Border Red Devil replied to GreatMoose's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hmmm..... Jedi's lava surfing sounds just as stupid as an Sindar Elf archer shield surfing while wielding a bow... However....at least a Jedi (specifically Anakin/Vader) can lay claim to using the Force to dissipate the IMMENSE energy/heat that would have burned him to a crisp (remember him blocking Han's blaster fire with his hands in ESB?). Birth of the Empire doesnt sound too bad....certainly better than Attack of the Clones.... -
Well... got a chance to see Shrek 2 earlier and I laughed my ass off. Antonio Banderas, as Puss n' Boots was a great addition to the cast. Alot of adult humour as well as hilarious gags.....my favorite was a take off on From Here to Eternity in the beginning. Go see this movie!

No. Im referring more to the backlash in Robotech fandom. Sorry...should have been more clear Yes, it did. Again..sorry...should have been clearer. -
Anime Network to re-air all 85 Robotech
1st Border Red Devil replied to Roy's Blues's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The backlash about Robotech was different though....mostly due to the inserted AD 2044 timestamp on Dark Finale. ::shrugs:: I liked it that they showed Robotech on CN last year...but thats because I won a Complete Robotech Masters Boxset from the deal. -
Favorite obscure/under-rated toyline
1st Border Red Devil replied to GobotFool's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Do you mean Warduke? Kelek was the Mage, but Warduke was the evil fighter with the funky batwing-crested helmet. Of course...they made a rather crude figure (In my opinion) of Prince Melf Brightflame of Celene... -
