Throw up some pics and let's see what the issue is.

Picked them up from work today after I got back from Avalon. Cheers man. PS: My pinvice is a Citadel one, but you can get better ones around that have pawls that will accept smaler bits and hold the bits i the handle, mine has a little plastic container that threatens to get lost at any time.
-
Sure thing man, it may be a while yet as I am busy travelling for work, plus there are a few other bits and pieces I want cast so I'll wait until they are all ready.
-
Nice work man. The 0D sure has some sweet lines any chance of those post matte finish pics?

Well I am going to be away a lot with work this year so I'll have a bit a spare time without much to do. Luckily adding scribed details only requires a few tools and lots of time Chas all my scribing work is done with a sewing needle in a pin vice, I haven't done a lot of scribing so far so this should offer a good chance to practice.

When to throw out the kit you're just not enjoying...!
Berttt replied to cowie165's topic in Model kits
There should be a guy that comes around to your house and bullies you into getting of your arse and making models. I know I'd sure get moving if some ninja was standing at my shoulder threatening deadly action. IMHO get off that piece of junk and get on with building macross stuff - you know you want to -
I had always wanted a 1/72 scale Gerwalk had have been disapointed that Hasegawa haven't got around to making one. I'd thought of making one from an old Hase VF-1S fighter that didn't turn out very well and a Hase VF-1 Battrod where the clear coat had gone sour, but I didn't like the look to well. Also I wanted more than one which was going to be costly to bash 2 Hase kits for every Gerwalk. In the meantime I had picked up an Imai 1/72 VF-1J Gerwalk and was disapointed by the overall look (the downward pointing noe the most), but after I saw some images from another thread here at MW I thought that something good may come from these old kits with a bit of attention. This was the kit that finally inspired me to action: (Found here: http://nosutaru.fc2web.com/MACROSS/imai/S-GW/1-72-S-GW.html: [attachmentid=41178] I have picked up a lot of stuff off the web and won't claim that any of these ideas are my own. Thanks go to WM Cheng and the author of this site: http://nosutaru.fc2web.com/MACROSS/MACEOSS.html My ultimate goal for this project is to have model that looks like this lineart (taken from the macross Mecha Manual site) only as a super since I don't like the strike variant so much: [attachmentid=41173] Firstly the kit needed a new nose, so I sawed off the old one and added a leftover nose cone from a Hase VF-1 (from the VE-1 kit). The Imai is about 3mm wider than the Hase so I added strip styrene and putty then sanded to shape. [attachmentid=41174][attachmentid=41175] I have also started work on the forearms which needed some shape correction. All I did was slice off an angled portion. The unmodified arm is shown as a comparison: [attachmentid=41176] And added some scribing to spice up the legs: [attachmentid=41177]

Here are some pics of various bits that I am modifying - nothing is finished yet. Corrected Arm compared to stock arm: [attachmentid=41143] Corrected nose (I have another master of just the nose cone to make copies): [attachmentid=41144][attachmentid=41145] Scribed leg detail compared to a ahse fighter leg: [attachmentid=41146]

Yeah I am down at 77SQN ALS now, and no the bloke that will be casting the nose is a RAAFie from somewhere (can't remember where from right now). Mike: When I first got the Imai Gerwalk I was pretty disapointed, but the more I look at it and the Bandai Super Valk that I have the more I like them, they have more of an Anime feel. Once you fix the god awful nose the actually aren't a bad kit, sure they are a little shy of detail, but nothing a little scribing won't fix.
-
Send them up and I'll get them cast by someone I know. I'll repay the favour by shooting a few copies of my improved Imai 1/72 nose your way. Cheers, Berttt

I am building my own 1/72 scale Bandai Gerwalk and was looking to replace the kit hands with something similiar to the ones in the below pics. Anyone outhere recognise them? [attachmentid=41099] [attachmentid=41100] If so where could I get my grubby mits on some?

One Monster also gets the good news from the YF-19 during M+ when it gets killed by the 19's BFG arm thingy.

Man that sucks the bag. I once had a Hase CF Battroid where the exact thing happened only on several parts using Testors rattle can Dull Cote I was so pised off man, but all I could do was bin that kit and start another one I had sitting waiting. That ruined jit has suppleied a few parts for other projects so it wasn't a complete waste. I stick to all acrylic paints now for all my paint needs (no chance of conflict that way).
-
Well you got me there. I can't help but it's good to see one of MW's female members drop by, good luck and remember to show off the finished result Cheers, Berttt
-
Nice work man. I saw you and Sean taling about paint chips, but what was new about the oil paint you mentioned?
-
Nice LV + Booster man, I think that makes your only the 3rd one I have ever seen worked on, let alone finished. You just don't see them out there, even WM Cheng hasn't posted finished pics yet.

Captain America has released his Tomahawk kit, and shold be releasing a Defender kit later in the year.
-
VC-33! That's it. damn I couldn't remember it's name, thanks gabe
-
Nice, is that twin engine light transport from the series? looks similiar to some line art I've seen about.
-
Keep an eye out for a 2nd run of Captain Americas Regult. I believe the next run will not have the clear halves. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...0&hl=regult

That is a tricky question dude. Personally I would go for the Hasegawa stuff. Their 1/72 fighter mode can't be beaten (though the old Bandai 1/72 comes close once you fix the awful nose)
-
see if someone with the hase VF-1D will post the colour recommendations
-
I like it man well done. It has the delicate bird like quality about it that comaes through in some shots from the anime. I tip my hat to you good sir. Cheers, Berttt

Better get started on that problem warmaker

It would depend on the sculpt. The add on bits for the leg fit tightly to the shape of the legs of the Hase item, so I think you may have a bit of trouble there. But the rest should be okay with a few minor tweaks.
