  1. That's when I'd be worried about scratches.... I've watched the entire series on DVD once...and never again do I plan to watch them again. Beside...I have the entire series on my computer...so I have my backups.
  2. My Disc 2 DVD had a small dent in it that prevented any of my players to play the DVD. I politely asked (and begged) if there was any possible way they could replace it, and they gladly did so for me. It REALLY made my day. That was a while ago though.... The people at AnimEigo are really nice people. I'm sorry to hear of your guys' problems with the discs.
  3. It's not so much a finance question. It has more to do with quality of the product. Is it good? Certainly. Is it good enough to be worth its MSRP? Definitely not. Would you pay the set price? No. Would you definitely buy it if it was a little cheaper? Hell yeah. The point is that contents of stuff has varying worth. Sometimes it's worth it, sometimes it's not. In the case of music CD's, definitely not. Couldn't have said it any better myself.
  4. Why not?...People have been buying $100,000+ Ferraris and Lambos for decades now...its not like those cars cost that much to make...hell you could duplicate the performance with a modded Mustang or Camaro, and still spend less then $30k...but no one has been bitching that Ferrari has been inflateing prices...just like no one has been bitching that Tommy clothes or Nike shoes are priced too high either... If I thought the pizza was worth it, and had both the moneyand desire to buy it...yeah, I would buy a $50 or even $150 pizza...just as if I had the money and desire to buy a Ferrari that I thought was worth the asking price...Just as if I had the money and desire to buy a CD/DVD that I thought was worth the asking price....If I don't have the money or the desire, or think the product is worth the price...I won't buy it, end of story. And yeah, I happen to think most DVDs are worth $20...doesn't mean I buy them all...but for the just the ticket price for you and your girlfriend to see the film in theaters, you can watch the film hundreds of times on DVD, pause it, fastforward, rewind, freezeframe, watch the extras, listen to the audio commentary...overall you get a much better value for the money then watching it in theaters. But as I pointed out before with books...even posted a link that spells out printing costs and everything...DVDs and CDs are no more overinflated pricewise as mass printed books are...and they aren't nearly as inflated as fad clothing, cars, even toys...even Radd admits I have some agreeable points...bottom line is always the same...don't like it, don't buy it. Yeah read more about it here: http://www.forbes.com/business/feeds/ap/20.../ap1845443.html They are useing a state run printer and distribution system...meaning no "middle-man" distributer and retailer to give a share of the sale too...won't happen here, or in other freemarkets, at least not without a substansial change in commerce laws You kept mentioning that if you thought it was worth buying and you had the money that you'd go out and buy it. That's where I'm and I'm sure a few others are coming from. I for one don't think a lot of the sh*t they produce is worth buying. If there's one song on a CD I like and I've heard the rest of the songs from someone else...no way in hell I'm gonna go buy that CD just to hear that one song. It's not worth it. I thought this whole topic started as to how the MPAA are shutting down all the bitorrent sites....which brought up the whole cost of CDs and DVDs...which brought me to my points. And I'll bring my points up again...if it's not worth buying...I'm not gonna pay for it...but it's not gonna stop me from doing what I've been doing from the start. I'll continue to d/l, unless I deem it worth buying. That's what I've been trying to get at to you...and I thought my examples would have done that...guess not. And I beg to differ when you say ill formed arguments.

  6. No, I get the point...you see those stores need to make money from selling CDs and DVDs too...cut the CD/DVD price, and you arn't just reduceing the money going to the RIAA and MPAA...but the retailer has to bite the bullet too...Sure the Wal-Marts of the world can soak up the loss through other areas, but the smaller specialty shops can't...If you do some research you will find those most opposed to CD/DVD price cuts to be these retailers; NOT the RIAA & MPAA. You already pay at least ten times the manufactureing cost for a hardcover book, and for paperbacks nearly twentyfive times...Which is pretty much in scale to CD/DVD prices...hell, MOST products you buy have production costs between one tenth and one twentyfifth the purchase price, and when you consider fad products (more specificly namebrand clothes and such) the end consumer price can be over a hundred times the production cost. Which brings to mind my teenage cousin, whom bitches about not haveing the money to by CDs - and blaims the greedy recording industry for his plight - while blowing all his money on expensive Tommy Hilfinger clothes and Nike shoes So just because they sell you crap at a certain price that there's nothing wrong with paying it? Like Radd had said...if they changed the price of a small pizza to $50...are you just gonna sit there and accept it and pay an arm and a leg for it? If that's the case, I'll be sure to start a pizza place in your area and charge you that $50 for a small pizza...or $75 for a medium...or $100 for a large. I mean...you're willing to pay such a rediculous amount...wtf not?! I need to make a living too, don't I?
  7. I actually happen to agree with Eugimon.... I also agree with him I meant 'nice' btw, and not 'nive': not that it means something anyway, just a typo thing... Ah...I should have figured it was a typo...I don't know what I was thinking at the time...oops.
  8. I actually happen to agree with Eugimon....
  9. I've seen DYRL and Flashback....I know what happens there. I just wish it was made clearer in the last episode, as to what his real feelings are for Misa. And I'm sure the footage we've all seen is the same...so I know that Hikaru loves Minmay.... It's just I don't think he professed his true feelings enough for Misa in that last episode.... But you've answered that with Asian culture, which I did not know of. Edit: Had to add a few parts of speech to my sentences.
  10. I finally finished the entire series a couple nights ago. I must say the original is so much better than Robotech's "The Macross Saga," like everyone tends to say. I felt more moved watching the original than I did TMS. The scene in "Bye-Bye Mars" where Misa find's Riber's room is so much more emotional than it is in TMS. Macross just blows R:TMS away in that aspect...and in every other aspect as well for that matter...in my opinion. Anyway...I digress. About nine minutes and four seconds (09:04) into the episode is where I thought the episode started to get good.... 10 mins and 20 seconds into the episode, where Misa tells Hikaru of the "Space Emigration Project," I felt the episode couldn't get any better. 25 seconds later, "Violin of Tears" starts playing (I love that musical piece!) and I started to get the chills.... It wasn't until I was 10 mins and 58 seconds into the episode where I just melted for the rest of the scene (for lack of better words).... It's where Hikaru goes after Misa and Minmay tries to stop Hikaru.... I think the whole 3 minute scene was the best part of the whole episode.... After 11 minutes and 30 seconds into the episode...I just think the episode took a nose dive. I don't feel convinced enough that Hikaru chose Misa over Minmay. It leaves me thinking "who the hell did he really choose in the end?" You don't see him say "I love you" back to Misa...and the best we get is "a girl like Minmay can't be tied down to a guy like me" as an explanation as to why he isn't going after Minmay.... I mean...what the hell? There's nothing really there to suggest his feelings for Misa. The only clue that I feel 's given to me, about his feelings for Misa, is when he ends up running after Misa and Minmay begs him not to. ...I just think the episode ended poorly and I just wish they didn't end the series like that. ...Anyway, I'm done ranting. Edit: Edited for some grammar...I'm sure there are more grammatical mistakes in there though.
  11. Alfa System wha?
  12. Loonatics Character Pic
  13. I agree with Max...if they were to produce something worth paying $30+...I'd buy. I mean...who wouldn't support something they like? The way I figure it...if I want to see more of a certain product, I'll pour money into that product...otherwise F it.
  14. Not sure if this has been brought up...but I don't really care to read through those long lists...though I suppose I could use the search feature...anyway. How about Furi Kuri aka Fooly Cooly (FLCL)?
  15. I remember when they had these 300 (or was it 3000) law suits against individual people...as a means to scare others from d/l-ing s***. If anything, it just alienates me...I'm not scared from d/l-ing more s***. It just makes me want to d/l more! And you know something...despite losing however many millions (or billions of dollars)...I'm sure they're still making profit. ...A bunch of greedy farts if you ask me. Edit:Censorship is the devil!
  16. I think it's doable if it's done right.
  17. Furi Kuri/Fooly Cooly (FLCL)
  18. Those are pretty awesome. I wouldn't mind having the one of Ishtar as my computer desktop.
  19. Schwing!
  20. Happy New Years everyone!
  21. $75+ is worth it over Manga's? And I can't find Macross II anywhere on that site.
  22. www.cdjapan.co.jp Thnx! Wait a minute...are you telling me you've hung around afm & macross world all this time, and never heard of cdjapan? Heh...that's correct.
  23. www.cdjapan.co.jp Thnx!
  24. I saw Macross for the first time as Robotech when I was a kid. When I got to my teens I rediscovered Robotech and I came across AFM as well as Macross II at my local BlockBuster. The rest is history. The only thing Macross I have yet to see is anything Macross 7 and that Future Chronicle. I suppose I could always d/l M7 from one of those anime bitorrent places...seeing as it won't be released here in the States anytime soon. ...Anyway....
  25. I got all three
