I just saw a trailer for the movie and all I can say is that I'm looking forward to this movie (opinion hasn't changed since I first heard about the movie despite having seen the trailer). There are really only two things that I'd like to see in this movie: Transformer deaths and Optimus Prime saying "Megatron must be stopped, no matter the cost." I could probably care less about the human character development...I want to see (Transformer) death, destruction, and chaos! More "importantly"...moreover...I just mainly want to see transformers...forget any human character development/involvement! As other has have pointed out, some of these recent Transformers cartoons aren't all that great. I too believe that, though because the of the human involvement in the cartoons. I don't recall seeing THAT MUCH human involvement in the G1 cartoon...in comparison to some of the newer Transformer cartoons. Anyway.... (Sorry if I haven't made complete coherent thoughts that make sense...been drinking a little too much coke and rum tonight. ...Btw, love the built-in spell checker on Firefox 2.) Edit:Here's the Transformers trailer that I was talking about.

I just tried navigating through through amazon.co.jp. I typed in Macross and only 3 pages of stuff came up and it all looked like video games and video. The text was all in Japanese of course so I couldn't navigate around much. :/ Would these books be in English anyway? If not they're no good to me. Thanks for the reply though, I appreciate it!

I guess I should have made that "English equivalent" rather than just "equivalent." I can't read Japanese (unless it's in roman letters and I have a means of translating it.) ='(

Granted it's not 'pure' Macross, but whenever I hit the road on vacation I bring my copy of the Robotech novels with me. I find they're a good read. Does anyone else read these when they aren't able to watch their Macross DVDs? Moreover, the real reason why I created this thread: Is there a 'pure' Macross equivalent to these "Jack McKinney" Del Rey novels? Or is this the closest thing there is to a 'pure' Macross novel in the English language? (By 'pure' I mean no Robotech.)

...Dunno where you get your info. from, but it was my belief that the Macross II Valkyries were accepted by lots.

Watching the football video...those things are cool! The fact that they can do cartwheels and fall over only to get back up. I can't wait till this kind of stuff is more mainstream and we're seeing human size versions.

I was reading some Bleach forums and apparently the Bount arc is supposed to end shortly (thank goodness). I stopped watching and lost interest around the time where they entered the museum. Apparently the opening and ending of episode 106 shows some scenes/clips from the new Bleach movie. Everyone seems all hyped about the movie from these scenes/clips.... I'm looking forward to getting back into Bleach. Edit: I think I left off at 70 something and just watched episode 106. I honestly can say I don't think I've missed a thing in the past 30 or so episodes (even though it's filler).

Questions: Does Shoji Kawamori know about Macross World? For that matter, does BigWest or anyone officially associated with Macross (production) know about Macross World? I was just wondering if they knew how big their fan base is in the English speaking countries...and that we're always looking for more Macross!

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

My copy of Gears of War arrived. My gamertag is Ashmedai if anyone wants to hit me up on some co-op.

If the graphics in Halo 3 are anything like those in that trailer...HOLY TOLEDO!!!
-
Just as some of you say Macross isn't Macross without Shoji Kawamori; Macross isn't Macross without the love triangles.

If you had gone through Dell you could have gotten a 360 and a game for about $15 cheaper than you would at a store advertising the system and a free game. Moreover, if you wanted the system alone you could have saved yourself about $60. I got a 360 Premium and Gears of War all for $418.82 (that all includes the system + game + taxes + shipping and handling)

How is Resistance compared to Gears of War?

So there's absolutely no difference in graphical appearance between the Wii version and the GC version? -

I would love to see another Macross series come about...Kawamori or no Kawamori. Just as long as it has that Macross feel to it (mecha, story, characters, music, etc.). One can only hope!

Perhaps Theres A Way? Ot Forum Maybe?
Oihan replied to do not disturb's topic in MW Site News & Member Feedback
I can't remember exactly which threads have been locked and such, but this is what I'd like to talk about: Science Anything and everything related to science...technology...break throughs...etc. The console threads are a good start, but I wouldn't mind talking more about new discoveries, technologies, theories and such. Anything someone feels is worth mentioning that is science. Other than Science, sports. I'll add more to the list as when I think of legit topics I'd like to discuss that I'm not allowed to. -

There are other topics that aren't what you described. I don't to talk about how someone got a parking ticket. I don't want a topic about how someone's day went. I don't want anything of the sort. I just want to be able to talk about subjects that AREN'T"useless personal garbage ('how was your day'? threads, 'I got a parking ticket' threads, 'someone help me build a computer' threads or the dreaded 'what are you drinking/eating right now? threads), useless 'news event of the day' topics (people posting news stories, which quickly skew political a lot of times) or stuff thare are outright TOS violations (religion, politics, personal flames, etc)." -

Well, I don't know about you, but I'd like to know your guys' opinions on the World Cup games, having an NFL thread so we can all discuss the NFL and such. I'm not asking or looking for threads or discussions on how one's day went, or anything like that. If I wanted to know how someone's day went, I'd take it PM. Edit: Sorry for the multiple replies...I was reading/replying as I saw them...only to hit the 'Back' button twice to continue on reading. I guess i could condense one or two of them onto one post.... It's not meant to be seen as spam or anything else...I'm not trying to ruin this thread, so please don't take it as such. -

I should have said/typed EXACTLY everything you have said/typed in 'my.' I couldn't have said any of that better. I'm completely behind you on all of this. P.S.: That was me who mentioned they don't post on other forums...and for the exact same reasons you listed. Moreover, as Drew here has said, let the volunteers help moderator this new OT forum, if there will ever be one. I've already let one of you (I believe it's Roy) that I'm more than willing to help out here in this community. What better way is there to thank a community, that's given a lot to you, than to give back? -

Nah, can't let it die...not as long as there are people who keep coming to this MB. -
It's generally understood that the anime and sci-fi forums are there for topics that have broad appeal among a large portion of MW members. This makes sense because Macross is both sci-fi and anime, so its fans can be safely anticipated to have interest in both. And, yes, exceptions are sometimes made for topics that are neither anime, nor sci-fi. But, the point is that they are the exception and not the rule. You are advocating a forum where the exceptions are the rules. . . and most feel that this is not a good idea for reason both above and below. . . I don't think you are understanding my point. My point is that the community that you like so much was formed under a "narrow basis for discussion." I'm asserting that had that basis been more broad in the past, MW and its community would not be what it is today. And, it therefore follows: Altering it now would fundamentally alter MW and its community. So, in effect, I'm arguing that you are (ironically) praising something while unwittingly arguing to undermine a pillar of its success. I'm not really sure I understand what you hope to gain by all of that. You already attempted to preemptively call someone else a hypocrite in this thread. Now you seem to think that pointing out that I have posted occasionally in the Other Anime forum makes me one? That's just plain odd. I'm not sure how portraying people as hypocrites for making a quick comment in a thread about James Doohan somehow makes an off-topic forum a good idea. But if you think it does, feel free. In fact, I don't even remember posting in many of those threads, so I assume my involvement was minimal. . . but nevertheless, the threads are there, in the Sci-fi and Anime forum, so they belong (for reasons described above). And, for the record, though I don't think I'm a hyporcite in this instance, being a hypocrite doesn't make a person wrong. As for needing things to discuss when Macross news is slow. . . those that are interested in them discuss anime and sci-fi (and a few other topics that are allowed at the whim of the moderators) in the "Other" forum when Macross topic are not easy to come by. And, again, those are there because they have broad appeal among a very large proportion of the community. The attitude of the "use the search function!" nazis is another topic altogether and not terribly relevant or compelling as a reason to have an off-topic forum. It's more appropriate for a discussion of a general board attitude towards noobies. H 415295 I wasn't implying, in your case, that you're a hypocrite. You never said that you think there shouldn't be an "Anime and Science-Fiction" forum. I was just simply stating that you do post in OT threads that have OT topics, so why not an OT forum? That's the point I was trying to make. Wasn't a personal attack against you or anything. As for the whole "being a hypcrite doesn't make a person wrong" statement. If you're saying one thing and doing another, I'd think that'd make you wrong for you're not doing what you're saying. It'd be like me saying I'm playing soccer when I'm really playing American Football. That's just wrong. If there's one thing for sure, it's that the "Anime and Science-Fiction" forum is more popular than the Macross only forum. Take that away and I'm sure most of the people here who have nothing left to disscuss on Macross (unless something new comes about) will probably go elsewhere, decreasing the numbers of our members and the activity on this MB.

thats why i said, "i realize people can get burnt out talking about the same thing over and over but thats why there are other messageboards out there." i feel you on the rudeness factor of some members....but thats forum nazis for you. i think its whack that members post those kind of responses(lock please, sigh this again, blah, etc) as if someone was putting them out for asking a question or info. it takes just as much effort if not more, to post a smartass response as it would to just answer the question or point someone in the right direction. i mean, if you're gonna help someone, just help them, its really not that hard. anyway man, i hear what you're saying as far as running out of things macross related to talk about, i actually avoid discussing macross shows, instead talk about the toys or customizing since its a broader topic with less room for arguing. the world cup, NHL, NFL, NBA, PGL, none of it is really anime related. if they kept one thread open for the worldcup, i would imagine come superbowl time, the mods will keep at least one NFL thread open as well....but thats not my call. you're always welcome to PM a mod before starting a sports/off topic thread and get the go ahead. if you're polite about it, i can't see why they would deny it, especially if its the playoffs or something. 415284 True, true.
