  1. I was checking my emails today. My junk mail folder had an email from HG announcing the KS. I was registered in the RT forums, but haven't posted since the mid 2000's. If they are digging up old member emails like that, they must really be scrapping the bottom of the barrel. And yes, that email was exactly where it belonged.
  2. Let me throw you a rope and pull you back to the lightside. The idea behind this KS is to fund a tv pilot. But, the ultimate goal is to greenlight a tv series. Can such a series succeed with the current people at HG working on it? That is what you have to ask yourself when you think about donating. A pilot is possible. But a network greenlighting a full series produced by people with an unproven track record? That is a lot harder to get going.
  3. Cranston was not credited as his own name in Macross Plus. This was most likely because he was doing non-union work. He probably doesn't publicly mention his non-union roles in order to avoid any sort of trouble with the screen actors' guild.
  4. I agree with Seto. I just think that they just navigated their way beyond even what would be human explored space in Macross Frontier's time and are doing whatever it is that Colony ships do.
  5. Want to see this so bad! While I want to see it in Japanese, I might just prefer a French dub. Albator!!! P.S. For this thread, we need a pirate smilie.
  6. I have never seen it. The original Seed really did not agree with my tastes. When I heard the fan reaction to Destiny, I knew I should just skip it.
  7. No worries. I had no plans to really watch it again anytime soon. Maybe, by the time I do watch it, I'll have re-forgotten. I would agee with that. She was pretty bad ass.
  8. That's how it ended? Wow, I watched this show 2 years ago, and had already totally forgotten how the Haman plot wrapped up.
  9. Be warned that the subs might not be timed for the BD's. Those subs you mention were originally created for the first R2 DVD. When the 2008 HD remaster came along, those subs were no longer timed to it. As the movie went on, they would lag further and further. It's quite likely they would also not be timed for the BD.
  10. It might help if you told us where you saw this. In the US? Europe? South America? Also, from the brief description, it almost sounds like either Macross 2 (due to the over 2½ hour length), or some sort edit of the last 9 Macross episodes (though I'm not aware that there's ever been any kind of edit like what Modeler Guy is describing).
  11. Speaking as a French Canadian (but not from Quebec ), more Captain Harlock (aka Albator as he is known to us French speakers) is always a welcome thing. Looking forward to this.
  12. Saw Skyfall last night. To all those of you waiting to see it, this easily ranks as one of the better Bonds of the past 30-35 years. While I was not as thrilled by it as I was by Casino Royale, I still was more than satisfied with it.
  13. My guess for the ending points for each film would be: 1) Escape from Misty Mountains or maybe after the Eagles have rescued & dropped them off. I would rather go with the Misty Mountains escape as you can then start movie 2 with the action sequence culminating with the Eagles rescue. 2) Escape from the Wood Elves (where I would not be surprised to see a Legolas cameo) 3) End of the book, with possible foreshadowing of the true nature of Bilbos magic ring. Oh, and Petar B, I second the Mirkwood sequence. It was also my favourite part of the book.
  14. Given Japanese paranoia about IP theft, I would say that is a definite yes. It would have been coded Region A, for Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, various other areas of Southeast Asia, and finally, North America.
  15. Just out of curiousity, does anyone know what the reaction is in Japan regarding the altered shots?
  16. Same here. I would love to have this. Even if I just got the audio & sub files, I could still make my own DVD.
  17. That's what I was thinking myself. Anyways, my vote for a Trek series that could be serialized: The Romulan Wars (which is what Enterprise should have been).
  18. Getting back to Shane Black, are we talking about the same Shane Black who wrote the first Lethal Weapon movie?
  19. Saw the news this morning and thought I was still asleep. Quickly checked out ANN and they confirmed it. R.I.P. I liked all of your movies and this really is a sad for anime fans everywhere.
  20. I'm torn between saying "Hard Time on Planet Earth" was bad or good. Sure, it was typical of your late 80's sci-fi show, but it had its charm. The good: lead was played by Martin Kove (aka John Kreese of Cobra Kai/Karate Kid fame) and the show was created by the 2 guys who created Predator. The bad: Kove's character was saddled with an annoying gay robot that followed him everywhere.
  21. Something Is Out There actually made to series. After the somewhat good mini-series (in which you got to see some aliens), the entire series went basically like this: something strange is going on, looks like it could be aliens or paranormal activity. Our 2 lead characters investigate. In the end, it turns out it was just normal humans who had cooked up some scheme to make money, take power, or some other meh reason. The entire alien/paranormal angle for every episode was just misunderstood to be those things. The series last about half a year, until it was canceled. I wonder why?
  22. I'm currently watching the Universal Century series in chronological order. If you don't mind watching a show that starts slow, but finishes rather well, I would watch the original Mobile Suit Gundam. Mind you, my impression of it is that the first 30 episodes, while not terrible, were somewhat slow. The payoff is episodes 31-43. Once you reach this point, it picks up rather well. Most Gundam series are like this, the first 20 to 30 episodes are usually the establishing episodes (setting up the world, characters, mecha, etc). Once they pick up, they usually do so rather well. I have not yet watched the movie trilogy. These are compilation movies. They are composed of footage from the TV series and contain some new animation. While I can't give you an opinion of them, my impression from various reviews are that they flow pretty well, for compilation films that is. As for the side series (8th MS team, 0080 War in the Pocket, MS Igloo, and 0083 Stardust Memory), watch them only if you are a completist. My opinion of them is that, while they contain nice animation (certainly much nicer than the original TV series), they never really did it for me at all (8th MS Team being the best of the lot). As for the next major TV series, Zeta Gundam, I'm still in the process of watching that. My review of it will follow. Oh, and don't follow Mr March's suggestion. If you start with 0080 War in the Pocket, you may end up castrating yourself in order to make sure you never have children as annoying as the lead in this show.
