Macross DYRL in 4K UHD with English Subtitles
The Shade replied to GGemini's topic in Movies and TV Series
My copy of DYRL 4K has arrived. I only ordered the regular edition, so no poster for me. Still, a very nice presentation. I second a request made previously: if someone can translate the booklet, it would be greatly appreciated. -
Animeigo Macross Box Set - Black Cases vs Color Cases
The Shade replied to CryptCat's topic in Movies and TV Series
I also have the 3 volume animeigo set. But, I replaced every case with easier to remove ones because the discs were also showing some cracking & I wanted to be able to remove them without further damaging them. -
Cautiously optimistic as well. I like that it doesn't go for grotesque grim dark.

Macross Plus Ultimate Edition Blu-ray Release Thread
The Shade replied to sh9000's topic in Movies and TV Series
Mine also came in that same box type with only the bare minimum of paper for padding. I'm surprised there was no damage, despite it having to go through the US/Canada border.- 222 replies

Macross Plus Ultimate Edition Blu-ray Release Thread
The Shade replied to sh9000's topic in Movies and TV Series
I received mine today. Like a lot of people are saying, it's very heavy and very big. I have not yet had the chance to open it yet, but I'm jokingly expecting a laserdisc set to be included in there. It's that big. I'm glad to finally have this.- 222 replies

Macross Zero Limited Edition Blu-Ray (US ver?)
The Shade replied to Seto Kaiba's topic in Movies and TV Series
Preordered with the discount code. Thank you for sharing that. -
I've never participated in a kickstarter before, but was already planning getting on board for the MII kickstarter. If a one month delay results in an even better release, I'm ok with that.

Just finished watching it. Overall, I liked it very much. While there were obvious changes from the comic, it still retained that right feeling. The cast is good, not just the main characters, but the guest stars as well. No one seemed like they were phoning it in, they all seemed like they wanted to bring those characters to life and they succeeded very well.

I've watched only 2 episodes so far (I'm taking my time). So far, it's good. Despite some minor liberties in adapting from the comic, the show feels right and that's a win for me.

HG and BW reach an agreement (Link included)

Haven't posted in this forum in a long time, but for this incredible good news, I'm here for it. Hopefully, this really does allow home video distribution of all the various series. -
Deadpool, on DVD/Blu-Ray May 10, 2016
The Shade replied to miles316's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I had the exact same feeling. I knew it was going to be dirty in so many ways, but they pulled it all off so well. -

While it's unfortunate that there is some dnr in the new release, I would still go for the new bluray simply because it includes the original theatrical sound mix. Add to that what was said above: they programmed the bluray to play the original theatrical version with no text and no concert scene at the end when you choose the mono mix. This is as close to 1984 as we are going to get on home video.

I don't think it matters where they start. This movie (if it even gets made) will essentially be a franchise reboot. They can start wherever they feel like. Besides, to the casual fan who hasn't watched RT in over 15 years, their reaction will be pretty much "wow, this has everything I remember", while the diehards will just sit quietly as they realize that the movie absolutely shits all over their precious 30+ year cartoon.

Wow, this looks very very promising. Can't wait to see it.
