Yeah, I'm gonna check them out. Don't know which one to start with though. There's like a gazillion of them. Macross Frontier news thread part I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, etc etc...damn! For the record, I thought the show was nothing short of spectacular and magnificent. The *only* issue(albeit small) I have is that I'm not to fond of Risa Ebata's Character designs. When I think of Macross, I instantly imagine Mikimoto or Masayuki designs. It kinda took me out of the "universe" if you will. But other than that. Very well done and worth the wait. Has Kawamori-san indicated that he is working on or at least planning some sort of continuation of Frontier? I want more, dammit!

Ah I see. well lemme know if you hear anything.

I wanna say thank you to Shawn and Graham for archiving all the Macross Frontier threads from the old forum. After the server move, I realized they're not here in this section anymore and started to panic Please don't EVER delete those threads. As someone who has JUST completed watching Frontier for the first time ever, I can now go indulge myself now and start catching up on all the old frontier threads. Can't wait to see what you guys thought of it

Cool cool! Tochiro do you happen to know if Akino was accompanied by YK at the Paris concert? Does she even perform with her anymore?
-
I just completed watching Frontier for the first time and it was magnificent. But I don't recall seeing any character named "Miyuki". Can expand on who this person is? Also, which OAV are you referring to?

Boy do I feel stupid now....here am thinking it is May'N who did the actual non-singing voice work for Sheryl, when it is in fact Aya Endo who did the spoken dialog. Wow. You learn something new everyday. Well, May'N is certainly nice looking and all, but man...Aya Endo is smoking hot! Would have loved to see her come to AX as well.

Dude....seriously....WOW!!!!! Thank you very much for posting those links. I seriously got shivers watching those vids. This is the first time I have ever seen video footage of Akino Arai performing live. Those Paris fans are lucky as hell to have seen it! Two questions: 1)To the best of your knowledge is there a dvd/BD of this paris concert...or *ANY* Akino Arai concert for that matter? 2)Do you or anyone else happen to know if Akino was accompanied by Yoko Kanno during that Paris performance? Man...I swear if Akino Arai ever comes to Anime Expo I'm gonna freakin' lose it! Oh and I just found an awesome interview with her about her Paris concert: http://www.mimu-net.net/en/article_view.php?articleid=73

Very well said Jason. They are indeed talented. Hopefully they'll be back to again sometime. Other artists I would love to see at AX: Hiroko Kasahara Akino Arai Tomo Sakurai Chie Kajiura Tomoko Tane

Awesome write up as always Tochiro. Yeah the concert at AX was simply incredible. Getting autographs on top of that was just icing on the cake. By the way, someone in line told me that he saw footage on the net of some guy talking about a Bluray release of the Macross concert held last year. Can anyone confirm this?
-
Aaaaand my AX2010 is now complete! Started out at the Megumi panel which was awesome. Got in question line and simply told her how much she rocked the concert and how much of a great job she's done as the VA for Ranka Lee. When it was over I shook her hand and said thanks for coming. Then...Got both my May'N and Megumi CD's autographed from them today and wasn't even in line that long! I told May'N to try and come back to AX again and she gave a thumbs up and said OK! They are very lovely girls. Well, the only thing I need now is an autograph from Konishi, but it looks like I'm gonna have to get there super early cuz it's an open session.

Do you guys suspect that since Kanno is here in LA, there's a possibility she will perform another seperate concert by herself in the coming days/weeks? Also, since she's down here, perhaps we can ask someone with some clout, like say, Egan Loo, to try and persuade her to attend the MW Con in October. What do you think? You know who I really really REALLY wanna see perform live, even more than Kanno? Michiru Yamane. I would literally wet myself if she ever threw a concert down here.
-
Hmm, I'm not sure on that one. Didnt see anyone so it probably wasn't.
-
Absolutely. Didn't see any empty seats, except for way up in the balcony/terrace areas. Looks like there are more fans than I thought.

To those at the Yardhouse meetup, sorry I couldn't make it, got tied up with other plans. Anyway I just got back. In a word, BANANAS!!!!!!!! As soon as I saw the piano on stage, I knew the surprise guess was Kanno-san. All three of them rocked the house. Hearing Kanno-san perform voices on piano for the second was magical. Megumi's rendition was surprisingly accurate. And the DYRL duet performance came out of nowhere. There wasn't ANYONE sitting down 90% of the time, except for the slower songs. The energy was FIERCE and the speakers were L-O-U-D-!!!! Surprise I didn't blow an eardrum lol. Lots people waiving those glowing mini lightsabers as well. Oh and the show started right on time and there were NO technical difficulties whatsoever. Everything went smooth. I have to be honest, I just started watching Macross Frontier last night and I'm only up to episode 6. So some of the songs performed were totally unfamiliar to me. Despite that, they were great songs and I'm gonna see about buying the soundtrack. I really loved the performance of the song from the opening credits(can anyone tell me what it's called?). Still can't believe Yoko Kanno came here to LA just to perform in the concert. It's a bit disappointing AX didn't try to get her as an official GoH. Last time she was here for AX was exactly 10 years ago if I remember correctly. Would have made a wonderful anniversary.
-
I'll see if I can make it down there. It's at LA Live correct? By the way I ran into Egan Loo today. Still looks the same even after 7 years Tried to squeeze who the surprise guest is out of him but he would budge hehe. Oh well, 12 more hours to go.

Went to pick up my badge today at LACC, and decided to come back again and try tomorrow. The Line for badge pickup was OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!! I mean, we're talking about a line that would make the Iphone and Dragon Quest lines cry!! Unbelievable.

Sorry about your injury Tochiro. Shame you can't make it out here man. Well, don't feel too bad. To me, you are STILL the luckiest Macross fan on this whole forum. You got to go to two RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME concerts last year....especially the Macross one, which I'm still hoping will make it to dvd. I would trade shoes with you any day of the week! To be able to live in Japan and go to many concerts is awesome. You may not be able to make it to this one, but I'm sure you'll make it to a whole bunch more in the future

caved in and bought a ticket as well. Hope I get a good seat

I have to admit I'm torn on this, but will probably not go. I'm a huge Macross fan for many years but I still have not gotten a chance to see Mac Frontier. So I'd basically be going to a concert of two performers who's work I'm totally unfamiliar with. Is mac frontier's music really good, average, or bad? How does it rank against music from the other Macross series? I have seen both Yoko Kanno and Mari Ijima perform back in a previous AX(Mari I've seen twice), so them being there wouldn't be a huge incentive to go. I dunno, other than Magumi and May'n, there aren't any other guests attending AX that I'm interested in. Plus I don't even know how much the concert and registration is.

Trust me when I say it would behoove you to buy the Animeigo version of MacrossTV, and convince your wife to watch it subtitled with you. Both of you will appreciate how much better the story is when spoken in its original dialog and will be glad you did. Trust me on this. Avoid the dub at all costs.

I'm confused. Is this a book, a toy or both? -
Sounds like it could be a pretty good one this year. Keep up updated on progress

sorry guys, but the RT dub is the best english dub period. I refuse to watch a new English dub of Macross, or even Southern Cross or Mospeada. It would be too much of a mindfart.
