  1. In fairness, the silver stripe isn't there 95% of the time in the animation. I do agree with you that the grab-bars, wipers and smaller details should have been silver, if only to give the truck a little extra detail. It looks very incomplete without those little highlighted details, don't you think? Regardless, I think Takara did a reasonably good job with the overall aesthetics, save for the kibbly stuff on the top of the chest/shoulders and back of the knees which gives him a hint of Bayverse. The Transform Element figure looks much cleaner in that respect. Maybe I'll just put the Masterpiece head on the TE Prime and have the best of both worlds.
  2. Official pix Love the head, but they forgot the grey/silver stripe along the truck cab--no doubt something they will milk with a later release.) Yay for the optional heads, but the trailer is a huge disappointment. Seriously, I just want Prime, the season 1 head and his blaster. Everything else is good for the recycling bin.
  3. I think the major blunder T/T made was to let the price slip before any beauty shots of the final figure with all accessories shown, and with the figure release some 9+ months away. They should have done the opposite. Why do I say this? Because by dropping a price-bomb like that with no corresponding eye-candy to back it up, most people will just say f*ck this crap and buy the 3P figures--WHICH WILL HIT THE MARKET FIRST! Those people who already thought the Takara figure price is outrageous have now already spent 100+ on a 3P Prime, so spending $450+ for the Takara just a few months later would be even LESS justifiable. Had they released some slick glam-shots first, there'd at least be a chance that some spell-bound people would wait it out and patiently save for the official release. This reminds me so much of the whole Disney/Star Wars debacle from just a few months ago. They thought, in their great hubris, that they were too big to fail, they could condescend to the fans with impunity and those fans would just lap-up whatever vomit Disney spewed-forth... And then the Disney/Lucasfilm/Kennedy machine got clobbered at the box-office and the merch sales took a nose-dive. Takara/Tomy may be next in line to discover the Peter Principle.
  4. The TV series is integral. EOE merely explores the same themes and Shinji's personal revelation from a different (and more convoluted) perspective. If anything, I think the TV ending is perfect just as it is.
  5. I'm not sure how T/T slicing their own throats constitutes a "logical" conclusion, but sure, why not. Almost 600 Cdn with shipping??? Not even if it comes with a sound chip that addresses me BY NAME in Peter Cullen's voice! Seriously, T/T can get bent while I gleefully await my KO/3rd party figure with improved QC for a fraction of the price.
  6. Gundam has been horribly derivative for a long time now. What little novelty they can still muster story-wise at least, is just... It's dumb! I mean, I could see how from the franchise's beginnings there were globalist leanings in the writing, but at least it was somewhat cohesive and you could understand the little philosophical nuggets that were thrown-in here and there. Somewhere along the way, it's as though they handed-off the franchise to a new generation who nodded politely when they were asked if they understood it, but really didn't. That became painfully evident when watching Unicorn, especially when compared to CCA. Seriously, so much of the dialogue in Unicorn makes NO sense: it's like they say things that the writers must have though would come across as profound and meaningful, but it's just gibberish! Even the slickness of the animation just looks cold and sterile compared to Zeta or even 0083. I do like The Origin, but that's just revisiting established characters with a little bit of gap-filling.
  7. Most likely Singapore Dollars. To price it at 50,000 yen would be to BEG third-party companies to knock them off with a better product at half the price.
  8. That 4 minute clip was better than all of Top Gun.
  9. Changing gears slightly, Southern Cross finally gets some modeling love!
  10. I bought new, fancier equipment! Nothing can stop me now... Except maybe a power failure.
  11. Done!! I'd like to thank Podtastic for allowing me the opportunity to hone my craft on this fascinating and esoteric design. One more obscure piece of Anime history saved from the depths of memory-oblivion! The kit will come without a vanity box to save on space and weight. She's a hair over 20cm in length, 31 parts. Now let's see if Exo has any plans to use his mad skillz to make tiny 1/550 Bionoids to go with the shuttle!
  12. Makes more sense than a Mortar Headd... Sadly. That I know of, the Kaiserin shown above wasn't even released, so no modern figures are available ATM.
  13. Hi guys, just a quick news bulletin. Molds are well underway, and I should have those finished before the weekend is out. Had a slight mishap with one of the smaller molds and had to start over, so running slightly behind schedule.
  14. Or a Pak-Fa with swing-wings, more powerful engines and tweaked for lower RCS.
  15. I recall reading something along those lines. Wasn't there at least one incident of an F-15 having a structural failure mid-flight? They should still have a fair amount of serviceable Strike Eagles remaining, though. AN/ALQ128: true enough. Granted, Grumman now has the combined ressources of Northrop-Grumman, not to mention several decades of improved know-how to get things done more efficiently. I realize it's mostly wish-fulfilment on my part, combined with a sense of dissatisfaction that comes from seeing the Navy make due with a successor that is, in most respects, inferior to the aircraft it replaced.
  16. Sorry, that's not an argument. The F-15, which is probably THE biggest offender in terms of RCS due to its right-angle intakes and perfectly vertical tails, is still going strong. With the development of fighter-mounted directed energy weapon systems, F-14s & F-15s are prime candidates for that technology by virtue of their size and payload capacity. Also, it looks like there are no plans to mount DEWs onto low-observable fighters because the tech may interfere with their low RCS. "Stealth" planes also have to stay < Mach 2 to avoid delamination of their radar-absorbant coatings, which isn't an issue on the previous generation aircraft, so they do offfer some advantages. Russians are planning on having something ready by 2035. US is already starting testing: the future is here!
