  1. I don't know if they've done some subtle adjustments to the head since the test-shots or if it's just the lighting, but it looks considerably better in this newest batch of pics; maybe not perfect, but definitely better. Poseability looks decent enough to tackle most of Prime's iconic poses. Can't wait to have this in hand and implement a few tweaks.
  2. Magic Square can perhaps best be described as an idealized Prime: he looks heroic, beefy, has great articulation and the head/face is the better of the two 3rd-party offerings. Chromed plastic is also very welcome. That said, the figure's overall flat finish works against it, and both the matrix/chamber and alt modes aft section are very poor indeed. The battle-damage parts... Meh. They could at least have made the damage look more like it did in the movie and include a damaged head. As it is now, it's not something I'd use. Same goes for the energeon axe, especially because the way it fits over the fist makes the base ridiculously large; so large that it sticks out farther forward than the blade portion. Transform Element takes it in the overall proportions department as the clear winner in terms of Season 1 toon accuracy. The transformation is elaborate, but I admire how they made it a kind of plastic origami/3D puzzle while still resulting in a cleaner robot and alt mode than Takara's offering. Seriously, that thing's a work of art! The matrix chamber and the matrix itself are beautiful and accurate. Poseability, though perhaps not quite as good as MS and Takara, is still decent. The lack of thigh-swivel is a bit irksome, but probably not an issue if posed properly. To me it has three drawbacks which if corrected, can make this the best Optimus Prime: the head, the bare red plastic which makes it looks like it's made of ketchup, and the silver truck parts which should be chrome.
  3. Hapy new year, fleshlings!! I found these on TFW2005. Left: MP-10, center: Magic Square, right: Transform Element Transform Element next to Masterpiece Megatron.

  5. I just saw it today. It was alright, but not something I'd be eager to see again in the theatre. It reminded me of a combination of Transformers (2007) and E.T., but not as good as either. Earth-Girl finds and adopts a giant mechanical space-puppy which doubles as bodyguard and improvised boyfriend. The Cybertron sequences were, as you could expect, the highlight of the movie.
  6. I'm hoping those are merely place-holder images. Torso gap aside, the proportions have been altered significantly from the source material.
  7. You realize that a Bioroid is only about 14cm tall in 1/48 and would be barely over 11cm in 1/60, yes?
  8. The red Bioroid was a L & S kit; I had it eons ago, as well as the later Academy knock-off.
  9. Study the elbows, hips and ankles; you'll see that they're not conducive to the normal range of motion unless armor parts magically shift out of the way. Also, having studied the diagrams MAAS posted, they've taken some liberties with the proportions.
  10. I'm curious to see how they're going to handle the Bioroid. While it may seem simpler than the Spartas, it has compound curvatures and joints that may not translate well to 3-D.
  11. A new project. But it'll get its own thread because this one is, how shall I put it... Polluted.
  12. Expect some Southern Cross kit news early next year, but perhaps not quite what you might be thinking.
  13. Not a fan of this condescending language in the trailer: -Mankind is the cause of this "mass extinction" -"We" are an "infection" -The Titans are the planet's "original" and "rightful" rulers. I'm not sure if people even recognize the linguistic programming at work here. Not only will I not be seeing this in theatres, I'll actively be seeking-out the bootleg.
  14. 'Tis the best time to be a MOSPEADA fan
