  1. I used the 1/48 head because it has more of a neck than a standard chunky monkey head, and I wanted to have the purple coloring there. The pink on the nose is darker than the guide pictures I used, but that was as close as I could get. Same goes for the blue on the gunpod. The flash makes the blue look worse than it really is though
  2. Minmay Guard Having some free time after Christmas allowed me to finish this. Its my first time using waterslide decals in almost 20 years and I am happy with the ease of use (thanks Devin!). Its based off the Minmay Guard picture thats been floating around here for a while. I used a Jetfire body, recast 1/48 VF-1S head, and Devin's decals, along with a little paint. Low Vis is next, should be done by the end of the week.
  3. Got my Takara version from Tamin today. Three words: W O W This thing is awesome. The feet even have "suspension" so that you can pose the legs in semi-awkward positions without him toppling over. The only problem I have seen so far is that the Megatron gun doesn't sit quite right in his hand even with the handle extended. The stock gets in the way. One question for other owners out there - what is the purpose of the flaps on the waist? I am guessing they are there to allow access to the screws underneath, but do they serve some other purpose?
  4. The 1/55 heads are only attached by a screw and spring which can be accessed with a small screwdriver without any dissassembly. As was mentioned above, a recast strike cannon and some painting to match the armor is easy enough. Monkey Nugget used to sell great recast strike cannons w/ the booster on his site. Not sure if he still does.
  5. Cool idea. I always liked the look of bayonette on rifles. I might have to try that.
  6. I have one, its very good quality. Walmart has been carrying the other Galaxy Defender figures, but I have never seen the valkyrie. I hope this is a chain wide release. Well worth the 4-5 dollars price WM charges.
  7. thanks Tom, Thats what I was looking for, my searches kept coming up empty.
  8. Anyone have a picture of the Low Viz w/ fastpacks? I am starting my 1/55 custom and want to see what sort of color scheme might work for the packs Thanks!
  9. The #1 gunpod is waaay bigger than 1/55 scale. I needed that strike legclip which was the primary reason I bid on the lot, along with the blue VF-1S head. Sorry to dissapoint
  10. More stuff from the lot I won with those 2 knockoff Paro valks miscellaneous parts Don't let the gunpod at the top fool you. Its probably 1/35 scale, much larger than a 1/55 gunpod. Thanks in advance and if you want any of these parts, please PM, there are multiples of most. Shan
  11. Grr, for some reason I can't post pics directly. Here is a link to both: Paro Valk pics So what do I have?
  12. Pic one
  13. I don't think so either. I tried a pair of curved scissors that I had lying around and found it really difficult to cut anything neatly.
  14. I am at work right now, I will post pics later tonight.
  15. I won a lot of parts, and in sorting them out I came across two small valks, that seem to match up with the pictures of Takatoys Paro toys in the MW Toys section. They are about 2 inches tall in battroid mode. One has a VF-1S head and has JAPAN written on the underside of the body. The other has a VF-1J head and no writting at all. The 1J seems to be of a lesser quality plastic as well. Can anyone give me more info on these? Are they real, bootlegs, or something else entirely?
  16. Thanks for the info. Now its off to the store. Shan
  17. I am going to make a 1/55 Low Vis custom and was wondering what colors would best match the paint scheme. The pics of Yamato's look to have a medium grey w/ some sort of sea blue-green accents. I don't need exact colors but I want to make sure I get it in the ballpark. Any owners out there that can confirm that I am seeing the colors correctly?

    VF-1D

I did, they are a dark green color. Nice contrast to the tan and orange of the valk.
  19. Has anyone seen these on eBay or elsewhere? I figured they would show up by now. I'm really surprised they haven't shown up yet. I am still interested in a pair if anyone can get ahold of them for a reasonable price. Sebastian, can you still find them?
  20. The 1/60's have removable hands? I only have the Elint which only had one pair, do other 1/60's come with multiples? Can I order other hand sets somewhere?
  21. the only difference I found was that the inner half of the lower legs are plastic instaed of diecast.
  22. I have that bootleg or whatever it might be and it partially inspired me. My original thought way back when was to go black base with purple, but it would be difficult to apply stickers over that so I switched to silver as the base color. I intended this more as a Transformer than Macross valk and thus it is more "toy-like" in terms of color scheme - something that Hasbro might have actually made. I added the 1D head yesterday in place of the 1S/Jetfire head (which was all black with a red eyeport) and while I am not completely sold on the 1D head myself, it does make it look more unique than just a straight Jetfire repaint.
  23. Seems to be working now. If it continues to be a problem, I'll try to post the pics here
  24. Probably a little different than most. http://www.geocities.com/shanb4/temporary.html I am toying with the idea of using strike armor for the boosters and arms and Super-O armor for the legs painted in purple with black for a little change of pace. Any suggestions are welcomed. Shan
  25. nope, at least not yet. Its been a few months since I finished it and no side effects.
