  1. Couldn't have said it better myself.
  2. Ummm...ok. Point taken. So what's wrong with arcade like console games? People have fun wth them...not all the masses are up on aircraft and acm, so this lets them have fun...just like driving games and first person shooters (probably the most unrealistic of all genres). To get back on topic...AC5 looks so good, it makes me long for an online version even more.
  3. Looks pretty good though for a fake. The Natalie Portman Asuka looks kinda cool.
  4. I don't know of one...I know there was a 2 disc set for AC4.
  5. You may be on to something with the bundle thing...I wondered how KOF got released. I was surprised back when CVS2 was released though.
  6. Excellent! No one is happy about the 3D KOF. I spoke too soon...now we have one. Speak up 3D lover!!! I don't mind 3d fighting games...if they're Virtua Fighter 4.
  7. I'm thinking of picking up the new Hori one to use with this and AC5
  8. I didnn't like the singing at the end of ROTJ...I prefer the ewoks going off.
  9. It sure does look like a knockoff of primarily the X35/36 FCS. I love mine. The X45 is a piece of junk compared to the X35/36 IMO. Vostok 7 Which is why I want this PS2 one...looks exactly like a Saitek...they probably licensed the thing to release a PS2 version. Sorta like Agetec did with their Dreamcast arcade stick (which was Sega's stick)...which was the best DC joystick. Kinda pricy though.
  10. Just watched it. Awesome transfer and remixed sound considering the movie is so old. I didn't expect it to look that good...I can toss my moldy VHS tape from 15 years ago away now.
  11. Three more words: No thank you! I still have doubts as to KOF being 3D. But since 3D is all the rage nowadays....
  12. More shots... I want this game.
  13. Since the newest KOF will be 3D, how do you feel about it? KOF: MI
  14. Wonder if I should invest in this: Hori Flightstick2
  15. I always loved that film. He's been in a lot of movies. I just picked up the 2 disc limited edition. Still have to watch it though....tonight is the night.
  16. The game uses a time/phase system. Every phase consists of 10 turns. After 10 turns, the next phase begins. One turn is used when you go to one mission on a map, or return to a base. If you get shot down, it also uses one turn. At the end of a phase, the game will look over the missions you completed and dole out the new ones taking into consideration the current circumstances. The ones vital to the war have to be completed, as if you haven't finished them, HQ will prompt you to bring those to a close at the start of a phase. Thus, getting shot down repeatedly and returning to base will sorta have you "missing out" on more missions. If you do finish all the missions in a phase, and have leftover turns, all the remaining missions in the phase will be "standby" (dogfighting) missions until the end of the phase. If you want, you can advance "time" by "resting" in your quarters (the room that you view your stats in). It's an interesting way to get you to do well because if you finish the missions and get more standby missions, you can get extra cash and I don't know what else. If you noticed, every phase brings about new responses by the characters such as the sit rep by Amelia, as well as the talk in all the different places by everyone. You can observe the phase and turns at the base menu screens. If you get shot down a lot, you can instead reload your save(save after every completed mission) and thus, won't use up your turns since you lose turns every time you get shot down (1 to go there, 1 to go back). It's a little confusing at first, and I probably didn't explain it as easy as the manual did. I shoulda just copied the manual's explanation. I am also wondering if completing the game in a certain number of phases or turns will also play a role in unlocking characters...for instance Ellen, whom no one has been able to figure out exactly how she is unlocked, though many surmise it has to do with shooting her and Albert down with Ken always. Some people said they have done that and still not gotten Ellen.
  17. Last year Microsoft laid off a lot of Xbox division employees in Japan, a country known for not firing people without good cause unless the company cannot survive. I'll leave the conclusion up to you guys. True, but overall if MS wanted to, they could stay in this race. We all know the XBox tanks in Japan....I think they sell what, dozens a week now? Personally, I could care less if the Xbox went away...I never bought into Bill's console dream. Microsoft staying in the race would be the rest of the world, mostly the US.
  18. Ack! I hate that Night Blitz Stage with Pierre. Pierre isn't too bad, it's flying through all those towers/girders/radar thingies. It was just a little boring. I'm now on the Metro stage through the tunnel...I shoulda used Alex more....I still only have his starting jet and I suck with the prop planes.
  19. Not likely, as Microsoft can stay in the game if they wanted to...they certainly have the cash. Although, I wonder if Bill will give up the console fight. The Xbox has some merit, but I don't plan on getting one. I'm happy with my PS2 and GCN. Maybe for $99, I might.
  20. I'm picking it up!!! I always loved that movie.
  21. Watching Robotech and liking it at the time, for the love triangle and of course the VF-1. Then I saw DYRL, and the some of the original Macross series and it was all downhill from there. The songs, music, and stories are what keep me.
  22. I played for ahwile until I even realized the phases and turns/time thing. Serves me right for not reading the manual fully. So far, I'm enjoying it, not quite as much as AC4, but a solid second place winner. The insane number of planes and characters help, the story is semi interesting...the voice acting...well, I wish US voice actors in games didn't sound like dubbed anime. And yes, the script sometimes just makes me laugh out loud. I mean, at least the radio chatter in AC4 sounded realistic. In AFDS, some of it sounds just kooky with the "you're a butt-wipe!" and stuff. But yes, I'm having fun with it nonetheless.
  23. Ace Combat has always been arcade like, with a more "realstic sim feel" if that makes any sense. Hard to descibe. I'd suggest picking up AC4 since it's only $20 now...one of the best PS2 games out there overall...
