Info Request: Valhalla III printed material
Major Focker replied to Major Focker's topic in Movies and TV Series
thank you both for the info. much appreciated. i might pursue the game guide as it presumably will have a bit more on the valhalla. if someone can share scans of the flight manual, i'd be very grateful -
doing a bit of research on this. checked the main site regarding the available macross books and game guides but it was not clear which one had the most material (pics and lineart) regarding the Valhalla. saw some of the VFX game guides on ebay, but not sure which one to get. a description in the Miyatake Macross Design Works also mentions the games, but again not sure if the Valhalla was in there. appreciate if anyone could confirm or clarify. thanks!

finally got my 1/60 VF-1S and excitedly placed it beside the other valks. it looks great in pristine white, but my other valks are now in varying shades of off-white, the oldest bordering on very faint grey. non of them were yellowing so i would attribute it to dust over the years that have stuck despite the periodic dusting i did. how do you guys clean your valks? what cleaning products can i use that wouldn't damage the paint job, or cause plastic discoloration problems later on? appreciate your tips. thanks.

1. macross ground vehicles and crew figures 2. "mechanics" series like the Yamato battleship (either SDF-1, valks or destroids) 3. Meltrandi fleet ships

1. macross ground vehicles 2. "mechanics" series like the Yamato battleship (either SDF-1, valks or destroids) 3. non-transformable, pre-painted, ultra-detailed series like Gundam FIX (lots of tampos) 4. 1:100 or bigger DYRL Destroid Monster w/ openable hatches/cockpits 5. Meltrandi fleet ships

yeah, i'm with you. i think 24 is the correct count. the explanation you provided makes a very interesting anecdote. might be worth putting up in the "notes" section on fastpacks. plus it should be easier to scratchbuild in 1/60 for reference, here's an alternative source which pegs it at 40: http://www.steelfalcon.com/Macross/fastpacks.shtml i seem to recall it from the Robotech RPG Manual i had when i was a kid. that was before i was "enlightened" to the true macross series, so please don't stone me for mentioning the "R" word can't help but wonder though what made yamato do 40, and if graham ever asked them or wrote anything on that. edit: hey, i just realized it debuted in episode 24. could that be another hidden sign?! lol

wow! great website! very, very comprehensive. if it gets any bigger you may have to do thumbnails so people can more easily find what they're looking for. just a question on the FP micro-missiles: you indicated an estimated 24 micro-missiles (12 per FP) and i can see that you are basing this off the VF-1S xray poster that came with the gold book. the yamato 1/48's though feature 40 micro-missiles (20 per FP) and i don't know if the ClubM Ultimate Detail 1/48 also features the same number. i know that lineart should settle the score, but the xray poster offers the possibility that some of the micro-missiles may have been obscured, though that seems unlikely. would you know of any other lineart or official text that can validate either one? thanks and keep up the great work!

I just realized that Hikaru never flew a Super VF-1J in DYRL and that I may have wasted a couple of weekends hunting down a model kit for that. But in that DYRL scene where Max dueled with Miriya (they're romantic that way), was Hikaru flying a 1J or a 1A?

sent you PM. i'm interested in the books. edit: you might want to move this to the For Sale Section though

Minmay. She's adept at handling microphones. But seriously, I've been in love with Minmay for like 20 years now. It's strange... I've had both Minmay-types and Misa-types, and while relationships with Misa-types are quite fulfilling, and dare I say, more meaningful, one could never quite abandon the longing for a Minmay; the one you thought was unreachable, but serendipitously was, yet you had to let go..

VF-1S Strike Battroid Valkyrie step-by-step

i think i like this color mix too. i've just started building my first valk and got 3 more kits on the way. how much do you think i should mix for 4 FP sets? thanks -
1/72 Resin Launch Arm kit w/ Max VF-1A Super
Major Focker replied to wm cheng's topic in The Workshop!
finally got in. apparently, i have to log out of my yahoo account first for some reason. fantastic work on the base! the windows and airlock were nice touches. and where did you get that cola vending machine from? has anyone figured out what size of rectangular magnets would fit in the crevices of the launch claw? it's the space between the fingertips and hydraulic pistons. i don't have the kit yet, so can't make measurements. -

link still doesn't work. tells me yahoo photos is closing and to head over to flickr. any other more recent links? thanks -
thanks for all the pointers. does anyone know if the minmay dress glows green (like the usual glow in the dark stuff) or white (like in DYRL)?
-
how can i identify the minmay glow in the dark just by looking at pictures? does it look the same as the minmay first concert dress figure that came with the minmay collection release (not the series 3 which i understand has her in ponytails and saluting)? or are there slight differences? dumb question, but just to be sure: does this mean the the minmay collection (set of 6) should have 7 pieces? the 7th being the secret glow in the dark? thanks

i was going to start on the vehicles and destroids that came with the 1/100 macross factory i just got (for some practice before i attempt the valks) when i stumbled on this thread. i thought i would be happy to cheat and use the 1/100 vehicles next to the 1/72 valks, but after seeing the progress pics on this thread, i now know i wouldn't be. i am definitely selling the 2nd factory that's coming in. where do i sign up? here? or in honneamise's ghost thread? i want all of them including the coke machine!

one can dream, right? in 1/60 - VF-1 perfect transformation - a few optional removable service panels - mini-missile detail in the FPs like in the 1/48 - optional clear fastpacks the questions raised earlier are probably much more sensible, so mine's probably for after everyone's had a number of beers.. cheers!
-
ah! there it is! thanks! looking at the pictures though, i think it is beyond my skill to build considering the required clean up and adjustments for this particular recast. i'll probably go look for the 1/144 or 1/160 then.
-
late to the party. is this project still on? if so, please sign me up for the SDF. would've preferred a DYRL version, but i'll take one either way. just curious: aside from the carriers and colors, are there any significant differences in the TV and DYRL versions? thanks!
-
thanks guys. pursuing nb4m's lead on "recast" i managed to find a 1/144 resin version available on a couple of sites (original was supposedly by yellow sub). these bad boys sure are expensive though! still haven't found that old thread on a 1/100 monster recast that nb4m mentioned, so any links would be appreciated.

thanks for the info sumdumgai. i am looking for the MKII Monster, so i'm holding out there were some produced at 1/100 whether toy or model kit.
-
looking for 1/100 Monster to place in a 1/100 Macross Factory. however, i don't fancy the yamato version which i thought lacked detail. i don't mind if it's a model kit. were there any monsters that were put out in 1/100 toy or model? if not, what's the closest scale and most detailed? thanks!
-
thanks, warmaker. i am going the #1 route for the service bay and hangar dio. just got the macross factory, though it is 1/100 scale, i can probably replace the obviously smaller service vehicles with the 1/72 hase service crew and equipment sets which i also just got. at first i wasn't planning on doing modelling, but i just can't get it out of my head now. can't wait 'till i get a long break from work. i'm still doing #2 route but no servicing or hangar, just this scene instead for my 1/60 toys, with a little modification i also found these forums to make the yamato arm grasp the fastpacks. the yamato arms are proving to be expensive though. same reason why i'm shying away from the 1/48 option. space too, is a constraint. thank you for laying out the logic though, it gives me some affirmation on some of the choices i've made.
