Want to upgrade the detail level of 1/72 VF-25?
Major Focker replied to newca's topic in The Workshop!
wow! can you make a shopping list of what PE sets to get? -
a bit OT: saw on an HK models site a pic of a minmei figure wearing a red chinese dress as shown on the cover of Macross Ace and recent Macross anniversary posters. wondering if it is a GK or a recast of a fig from the usual suspects ie. CM, MH, Alter etc. anyone heard of such a figure being produced?

so which is which? the images on the right look sharper but also more jaggy. the ones on the left are softer and the colors look a tad undersaturated. masterdex, thanks for the tips. seems like a bit of work though so i'll have to put it off till my next holiday.
-
OT: i take it you've seen Claymore? lead character is #47 back on topic, MF doesn't lag on my desktop but does on the laptop. i do hope there's a way to turn off the japanese lyrics and the karaoke animations while leaving the english lyrics on screen, albeit unanimated. btw, is there a way to edit subtitle font sizes? it's a tad too big on on a 46" screen.

i looked around their website and there seems to be a weight-based handling fee. JPY1000 for up to 1kg, JPY1500 up to 3kg etc. what i didn't manage to find info on is how they handle pre-order items. or maybe it's just as simple as they wait for something to arrive at their warehouse before they start processing it. -
yeah, hovertanks deserve some love. even if it just transformed between vehicle and gerwalk mode, i'll be happy. btw, what scale were the matchbox hovertanks?
-
yeah, it's the meatwagon. unfortunately, i only have a small pic: here's another flatbed, albeit a smaller one: disposal/goods truck: container truck: lift crane:

FANTASTIC!!! i was expecting just the firing sequence but then it started transforming... wow! if you would indulge, hope you re-shoot it from a bit higher elevation to better show off the power-up sequence. also, if you could raise the hp on the target, the beam would stay on a bit longer. recall from HW that ion cannons immediately switch off once the target is destroyed. great work so far, really looking forward to this.

nice! i'll get the whole lot. as for other vehicles: - lifting crane truck - disposal truck (smaller than the centipede) - wide flat bed truck even bigger than the centipede, so maybe call it millipede? all three are in the perfect memory book can't wait for christmas!

i caved. didn't pre-order the fold set because i wanted to hold out for a 1/72 version. but then my daily ebay macross saved search email comes along... got it for $90 shipped which is considerably cheaper than overdrive, but that's still the cost of a vanilla VF-1 in singapore. i don't know whether i should celebrate or not... -
Variable Fighter Master File VF-1 Valkyrie Vol. 1
Major Focker replied to sketchley's topic in Movies and TV Series
just got this in the mail today. top-notch production, i'm very impressed. can't read japanese so cannot comment on extent of new info, but some of the bits that piqued my interest: - prometheus deck layout - prometheus is submersible?! - how the intake covers slide down - why rectangular thrusters - cockpit display schematic some choice pics: and my fave: sweet reference for a dio i can see this being top of the pile of my macross books for quite a while (ok, maybe just under the gold book). if you're on the fence, suggest you just go an get one. doubt you'll regret it. -

woah, lucky you. was it sent to you from japan or did you pick it up at a local store? last month, i had a friend in japan pre-order a couple for me from yamato's website, but she has not heard from yamato as yet. and she's already flying out to visit me this weekend, meaning if it doesn't arrive at her place by tomorrow, i would eventually end up paying for double shipping

Variable Fighter Master File VF-1 Valkyrie Vol. 1
Major Focker replied to sketchley's topic in Movies and TV Series
i seem to recall $46, but i might be confusing that with the MacrossF Archive which i also got from kino liang court. i also used to first check with taka, but on 2 other occasions i found liang court got their macross stuff first. it seems liang court might be the receiving branch so if it gets sold out there, it doesn't make it to the other branches. edit: yay! finally got payment request from HLJ. can't wait for this, and the 1/100 armored alto too -

rant on i'm in the same boat. i had it pre-ordered and was checking my account yesterday but their account system was still down for daily maintenance. checked again a couple of hours later and see the book finally available but already listed as low stock. immediately sent a shipment request but until today i still haven't heard back from them, so i don't know if i got a copy or not. this quirk of hlj (non-real time processing) is rather annoying in these circumstances, which is a shame because other than this my experience with them has been very positive. lately i've been shifting a good number of purchases to hwjapan due to better prices and they're very flexible when you want to make changes in your order. rant off -

great mechanics DX9 has 22 pages on VFs from 0 to 27 and looks like some info on the PPB punch and MDEs. quite a bit of line art but it seems nothing new. issue also has mecha from Rideback. back to MC, i'm up to #25 but contemplating whether i should continue. have any of the previous Chronicle-type publications ever been compiled into book form? -
