nice work. reminds of the kadeshi swarmers from HW1. if memory serves, the swarmer's were even more erratic in flight and might be closer to the effect you're after, so you might want to look into their scripts. really looking forward to your mod.

http://www.videogamer.com/news/kojima_i_ca...zoe_sequel.html i've been waiting a long time for this, but looks like i'll have to wait a little bit more, or likely, quite a lot more...

as far as i know, it's a GK. got mine off ebay from a seller in thailand. it's up for pre-order at e2046.com, but be prepared for a long wait. pre-painted versions occasionally show on ebay but at $300 upwards. at one point, i almost caved since to me it was really borderline anime figure and artistic sculpture. vepariga, clare remains my favorite of the bunch. paid a pretty penny for it and it didn't help that i was levied 50% customs charge. but other than being the most expensive piece in my collection, it stands on its own merits and i'm very happy with it. have yet to come across another figure that is quite as enigmatic (shiki ryougi comes close but my photo skills just suck). it was reissued a few months ago so the trail might not be too cold yet. be careful about the knock-offs though, i've seen them and they really don't compare. one thing i've learned from buying this figure is that originals are really worth the premium.

well, i never imagined i would ever be buying anime figures. i think it started with the Macross gashapon cockpits, then the minmay, then the bigger CMs minmay, which was the first PVC i bought. anyway, it's still just a modest collection and i intend to keep it that way, just focusing on the kick-ass chicks shiki, motoko, claire: aozaki and yoko: sheryl and the 7 dwarfs: mireille, my all-time favorite assassin. finally scored one after years of search. would've been my first figure if it was readily available then. still in transit though, so here's just a file pic: alita: rebirth. loved the design so much i bought the resin kit even if i knew nothing about figure painting. i will build it someday. moka: awakened. haven't seen the anime at all but thought it was a very nice composition, and the coyest expression i ever saw. just recently tracked one down and will be here shortly. still in boxes: - MH sheryl - Banpresto klan - Banpresto ranka - Deunan Knute, by Wave i think

great looking toy. just one complaint: why oh why is there just one gun-hand?

Photoetch upgrade parts for the VF-25 kits
Major Focker replied to electric indigo's topic in Model kits
got mine today. excellent quality indeed. unfortunately, 2 of 4 sets were bent. fixable, but also certainly avoidable with a cardboard backing -
i kinda like the stocky proportions. seems more appropriate for the grunt-type work it does. i find the arm cannons a tad exagerrated though

Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition
Major Focker replied to sharky's topic in Movies and TV Series
sheryl falling ala DYRL minmay rescue at 1:08. so no ranka ep2 rescue this time? tornado packs at 1:32. the double cannons are starting to be an annoyance possibly M0 reference at 0:50. for a while it looked like alto as shin taking off sheryl's earring -
stumbled upon this while ogling this guy's star destroyer build: end of build up thread here: http://gillesv27.blogspot.com/search?updat...;max-results=20 from there you can track back to see how he squeezed in cockpit and nav lights, and i think also in the fastpacks and gunpods. it just blew me away.

good news indeed. would be a welcome addition to the mecha factory set. at that size, really makes lighting a possibility

Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition
Major Focker replied to sharky's topic in Movies and TV Series
like the new pack. not too sure about the delta wing. makes it look short/squat. original 25 silhoutte looks more elegant/flowing. but that's just me. -
disappointingly, alto does not even come up to MH sheryl's shoulders. without ex-gear alto is a little over 14cm, so at 1/9 that's barely over 4 feet. more likely, scale is 1/12 which would put alto at about 5'8". now i'm wondering, how big are the MF gashapons? btw, my alto came with a defect: the lower right leg was inverted, ie. the calf was in front, shin behind. in hindsight, i thought it looked a bit off through the box window, but i dismissed it as visual distortion of the plastic coverings. confirmed the defect when i took it out of the box, and it's not something you can fix, the kee joint is riveted rather than screwed. fortunately, i was able to return it for a replacement.

Major Focker replied to Graham's topic in Toys
i log off for a few days and lo and behold i find a poll where the vf-2ss is not being shot down but is actually leading. seems a lot of vf-2ss have come out of the woodwork. count me in! -
Hi-Def and Home Theater Thread 2
Major Focker replied to mikeszekely's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
yeah, LCDs have closed the gap with plasma on off-axis viewing. what you probably should look into is the "finish" on the screen. many LCDs (and some plasmas) come with a super gloss or polished screen which enhances brightness and sharpness, but unfortunately unless it's in a dark room the reflections can be annoying. off-axis, it might just make the screen unwatchable. imagine if you were to one side of the screen and opposite you is a window. when you look at the screen, you will see the reflection of that window, specially if you're watching a dark scene. many plasmas don't have this gloss screen because they inherently don't have an issue with brightness, in fact many feature instead an anti-glare coating, precisely to avoid those reflections. there are probably LCDs too that have this anti-glare, but the gloss is the fad. you're best bet really is to look at them in the showroom.- 376 replies

great figure, but doesn't look like klan. same for the sheryl swimsuit figure.

the DX Quarter is already priced at $220, so unlikely that the SDF will be lower than $300 given its size. same as eugimon, i'd like some appropriate lighting but nothing flashy. subtly flickering main engines would be as flashy as i would want it to be. i just don't think they'll be able to pull off a convincing macross cannon effect given the unenclosed configuration, unlike the wave motion gun effect in the yamato battleship which was done quite well. i'll trade lighting gimicks for increased detail in a heartbeat. i also could care less about boxe design so long as it's reasonably compact and provides adequate protection. heck, i wouldn't care if it came in a standard brown shipping box, it'll be out of that box the minute it arrives!

Hi-Def and Home Theater Thread 2
Major Focker replied to mikeszekely's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
that's quite promising. will look into that when i shop for PC parts. does that work for HD audio, and if so, will it pass-through undecoded streams (for decoding in the receiver)? or does the decoding have to happen on the mobo/soundcard and it's already a PCM stream being sent through the video card route?- 376 replies

Hi-Def and Home Theater Thread 2
Major Focker replied to mikeszekely's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
thanks for the replies. player does the audio decoding and sends it to the receiver, hence i still get Dolby True HD and DTS-HDMA. and yeah, audio from the PC will have to come out separately. so, does this mean setup is running at 1.2 right now? delayed reaction: ooh, 12 monkeys is out- 376 replies

Hi-Def and Home Theater Thread 2
Major Focker replied to mikeszekely's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
got a sorta noob question: BD player, PS3 connected via HDMI to AV receiver then to HD LCD again via HDMI. BD player, PS3 and all cables are HDMI 1.3, only the AV receiver is HDMI 1.2 does this mean my system down-configures to 1.2? ie. not deep-color capable? what other stuff do i miss out on if indeed my system is at 1.2? haven't heard of any BDs with deep color yet, not sure for PS3 games, but PC games probably have this already and i'm planning to connect a desktop PC to that setup. so i'm contemplating for the PS3 whether to route the video straight to the TV via HDMI and the audio via optical to the receiver. for the PC i might have to do it that way anyway since i think it can't output HD audio via HDMI. having said that, i would prefer routing everything through the receiver. appreciate if anyone can clarify this for me. thanks.- 376 replies
