  1. might be useful to label the colors on that pick to avoid confusion. i see 3 potential light greys (although i think one is beige), and 2 potential dark greys. thanks
  2. ... and the shipping, oh the shipping...
  3. great! let's pair up then. hope andy can arrange the sorting for us.
  4. payment sent. would be great to have two-tone colors eg. dark grey for internals, light gray for exterior plates. or perhaps someone might want to pair with me ie. take light internals, dark externals. hope we can work something out.
  5. i'm in for one
  6. got a link? and is the sheryl bunny also being offered? the macross ichiban items i could find on their site all seem to be sold out now
  7. ah! that's good to hear. thanks for the info. i think i have a few small magnets lying around yup, you need to plug it in. it uses both permanent and electric magnets. but i think the permanent magnets are just there to keep the globe from rolling when the power is off. to float anything, you need to turn on. it is mesmerizing to look at, but after 15mins i switch it off. i guess i have attention deficit disorder
  8. just got one from an HK seller. unfortunately, it's unlike the one produced by levitron where the globe can be split open so you can get the floating disc inside and use it on something else. the one i got has the globe sealed shut so looks like i'll have to wreck it. but before i do that, does anyone know a possible replacement for the floating element?
  9. thanks. i was using similar settings, so i guess it's down to either my crappy kit lens, or more likely, my sloppy focus just got a new figure today, canaan. now ignis has a tango partner: that jubei yagyu is quite tempting. for now though, this is what i pre-ordered: i missed out on the saber avalon, so this is the next best thing. actually, i like the face on this saber caliburn much more.
  10. wow, that shot of the figure is exceptionally sharp! sorry if OT, but would you mind if i ask what lens you used and at what aperture and focal length? i struggle with keeping the entire subject sharp without bringing the background into focus. thanks. yup, finally. took a while to find one that isn't double the release price. still paid a pretty penny for it but can't complain considering the fantastic paintwork on this figure. increasingly though, it's getting harder to justify the prices of some of these figures, particularly the limited ones. for example, i got the sheryl dark bunny for nearly the same as my hot toys warmachine pre-order the funny thing is, i end up buying them anyway thanks, i'm glad i got it too. at first i wasn't planning on getting it since i already had the shiki in kimono and i wanted to limit my collection to just one figure per character (of course with the exception of sheryl of which i now have 5). but i found it on sale for $30 and i like shiki a lot anyway, so...
  11. wow! many thanks for the detailed instructions. bye bye photobucket
  12. i have a flickr account but i can't figure out how to get it to generate a link that ends in jpg or gif that i can post in this board. any advise how? motion blur experiments:
  13. just saw it and found it a thoroughly enjoyable movie. it wouldn't be fair to label it as one of the best 3D animated movies. more appropriately, it's one of the best animated movies, period. having said that, the 3D was indeed very good and i may have just found my excuse to upgrade the home theatre to 3D.
  14. the feet are one in front of the other so there really is just one point of support, unlike if the legs were a little apart. and with the big red jacket it's like an inverted triangle when viewed from the front. can't tell for sure if the legs are hollow, but they don't seem so. nonetheless they are very slender towards the ankles, about as thin as lady's cigarettes. but more importantly, they aren't very stiff, bendable like gashapon material. i have other figures with a similar stance, even one standing on just one leg, but they were all very sturdy and seem to be reinforced with a metal rod.
  15. if you do get one, just be sure to use the included support stand. i found mine keeled over to one side with a very severe ankle sprain. apparently, bandai didnt use any support rods inside sheryl's very slender legs, and being erm.. well endowed and all, the figure was too top heavy for the svelte ankles. i now display it with the support stand and fortunately the legs have returned to form.
  16. thanks eugimon. playing with glow sticks: painting with a laser level: i think i've stumbled upon a limitation of my camera. the glowsticks are actually purple but the camera renders them as blue. tried various WB settings but they still come out blue. can't figure out why since the camera shoots purple flowers just fine, and until now i was actually very impressed with the color fidelity of this camera, very natural colors rather than the over saturation i've seen elsewhere . appreciate any ideas on how to make the purple color come out correctly. thanks
  17. + = in retrospect, i should've angled the shots so that none of missile hatches were directly visible. it kills the illusion. unfortunately, it was hard to see in a dark room. might try this with the armored alto next time, then i might as well cut the fibers into more irregular lengths and use blu tac to distribute them better
  18. UN Spacy, ruskii, thanks for the compliments. golgo's been in a box since i got him, first time i took him out just for this shoot. really great figure and comes with a lot of cool accessories. unfortunately because it's much smaller than the rest of my collection, i can't allocate the shelf space until i get more figures in a similar scale. btw, are there figures like this from cowboy bebop? would be great to pair faye with golgo it's weird though that photobucket took down the yoko shot. either they mistook it for this actual james bond movie poster: or yoko's butt was just too much for them to handle anyway, just re-attaching here for the curious: i've gotten a handful of new figures in the past few weeks, but haven't thought of a nice way to shoot them yet. when inspiration comes, i'll post another set
  19. had some fun doing a 007-themed shoot: most of you can probably recognize golgo and yoko's butt. these 2 might not be so familiar though: aozaki from kara no kyoukai and female elf from lineage II
  20. shame, really. it would've been a simple matter for banpresto to make the head removable and for the whole cape to just plop down. anyway, i just contented myself with using this figure for my first ever glamour shoot still new to this photo hobby and just coming to grips with my first non-point&shoot camera not so happy with the face sculpt but it sure is wicked sexy. still waiting for the ultimate sheryl figure. hope they make one of my avatar or from episode 10 (shorts, sunglasses, bolero jacket).
  21. more nosebleed from animesuki: i just got mine and i'm trying to figure out how the cape was removed. it does seem there is some "give" when i move the cape back and forth and that it is not glued to the figure. but i can't seem to get the shoulder pads out of the way so i can pry the cape loose. anybody else tried removing the cape? would've done a more direct comparison with my other new fig
  22. i liked the fight scenes in The Hunted, the one with christopher lambert, not the one with benicio del torro. the reason being, the moves seemed very deliberate, calculated and the fights over very quickly. the 2 mini-boss fights amounted to just a couple, maybe three exchanges, and the big boss fights just a couple more. this made it more believable to me compared to other duels i've seen which were protracted swordflash affairs with a lot of parrying apparently just for the sake of parrying rather than as a means to move into a counter.
  23. dante/eugimon, thanks for the guidance. if i got this right, when the composition dictates a wide-angle lens, the extra speed is useful if i want to either freeze very fast action, or not so fast movements but under low-light. i think the latter situation (indoor, hand-held) will probably be more relevant for me, since for outdoors i wouldn't mind using a tripod, and found i actually like to blur people movement in the foreground so they don't detract too much from the scene. i guess this means i'll pick up the upcoming wide-angle fast prime and just zoom with my feet, not so critical indoors anyway. hopefully i can sell it later when a fast wide-angle zoom finally become available. boy, photography as a hobby certainly becomes expensive very quickly. speaking of spending, i chanced upon an aliens dropship at a local store. been hunting one for years so immediately snapped it up for $150. i thought it was a good price considering i wouldn't have to pay shipping, which i imagine would not be cheap considering how heavy this bugger is. haven't used my polarizing filter yet so decided to test it by shooting the dropship from underneath a glass table. pretty happy with how it reduced the glare and reflections, though not all. so i'm wondering, are there also different strengths of polarizing filters? anyway, here's how it turned out: also seems to be useful for softening flash harshness: finally, my apc's got a mommy =)
  24. had a blast with my new camera during my recent holiday. my only regret was not having a wide angle lens so now i'm contemplating getting one. the thing is, there are still very few lens choices for micro four thirds and the wide angle ones available (or soon to be) are f4-5.6 my limited knowledge tells me this should be okay since landscapes are supposed to be shot at small apertures anyway and ideally with a tripod. so when i read about people clamoring for fast, wide-angle lens, i'm a bit confused as to why such lenses would be desirable and in what instances/applications. appreciate if someone can enlighten me. thanks.
