i still don't have this latest sheryl, and as if to torment me even more, it seems a recolor version is coming (or is already out): unfortunately, i lost track of my friend who used to buy stuff for me at yahoo auctions. those of you who bought at YA, how did you do it? you read japanese, or you have a contact who does? if anyone can help me purchase this figure, please PM me. i'd prefer to get the black kimono version, but i'd consider the regular one as well. heck, i just might get both

now i'm confused. there are 3 versions of the 1/3000 SDF-1 ?? A) the released toy, fully built and painted B) rumored in the blog,Y16590,unbuilt,unpainted toy in "kit" form w/ busted cannon extra parts, PE and decals ?? C) model kit w/ busted cannon extra parts, PE and decals ?? seems unlikely for both B and C versions to co-exist. also unlikely that B is actually fully built but unpainted, doesn't make sense that way. C as a "proper" model kit seems the most unlikely since it will require quite a bit of new tooling if it is to be substantially different from B, otherwise there's no point to it. personally, i wish they would do C as a non-transforming model kit with option to build in either configuration using new tooling ie. no screw holes, closer tolerances, sharper detail (where previously they've had to compromise for durability). but i'm probably just dreaming. when yamato said they'll release a "kit" version they were probably thinking of milking the mold and going the same route as the 1/60 VF-1S unassembled toy. speaking of which, that kit version of the VF-1S is about 60% of the price of the finished toy. if one takes that as an indication, and consider the built SDF-1 retails for Y32800 then this SDF-1 "kit" should cost about Y20k retail, and after the 15-20% from the likes of HLJ or amiami, then about Y16k. so that blog might actually be accurate. of course i would want it cheaper, but if one considers that aircraft carrier models are about Y20k at 1/350 and about Y8k at 1/700, and that the 1/3000 SDF-1 is around the middle of those two in terms of size (SDF-1 may only be a little longer than a 1/700 carrier but much wider) and amount of plastic, it would seem to corroborate the Y16k price as well.

apparently, babydoll sang on 3 of the tracks. not sure if that's old news..

i got my built SDF for that price at a local store. i think $310 is much too high for a model kit. but then again, if it is indeed a web-exclusive, one might convince himself it is reasonable. personally, i won't be buying if it's more than $200.

now that's more like it! 1/7 too, so perfect for my collection. can't wait

oh crap! i wasn't planning to buy this, but what the heck. we're those pre-production pics or is it out already? if the latter, then the hunt is on this weekend!

technically, free the magazine was $25. good issue by the way. had a few pages of a military grey VF-29

here's some more

just picked up the May issue of HJ. the sheryl figure it came with is small (~3in) but very detailed and nicely painted; i would say better than most of the banpresto MF stuff.

lovely figure. but pose and expression looks too soft to be motoko

looks good, except for some of markings on the ARMDs. i wonder if anyone has attempted to light an SDF with fiber optics. but that may only be possible with a dissambled model kit. btw, any news on when that is coming out?

yeah, the 1/8 bandai emotion style sheryl is 8.25in. while i don't expect minmay to be as tall as sheryl, i don't expect sheryl to be a full head taller either. right now minmay's face is only up to sheryl's boobs..er... now that's a display idea so i put minmay back in the box because she just looks so off scale with the rest of the figures. only reason i'm keeping it is becauase there might not be another "sizeable"(yeah it's small, but still bigger than gashapon)minmay figure.

you are of course entitled to your view and what you choose to do with your money. but perhaps generalizing a people based on personal experience or perception is a bit harsh, if not inaccurate. japan is one of the top foreign aid donors and consistently a quick responder to disasters, both points highlighted by the UN secretary general when he pledged support for the japan quake relief efforts. but even that is beside the point. i would espouse that humanitarian donations are quite simply just that: helping another human being, regardless of nationality, stature, or disposition. it is purely about helping, with no strings attached.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!! WOW! you have got to show us how you made that monster. you're work is just epic! (now don't be shy. come show use your in-scale GBP )

worryingly, an explosion seems to have been reported at the fukushima reactor, and a plume of smoke sighted. it's as yet unconfirmed, so i remain hopeful that is not the case. but please stay tuned and take precautions. hang in there guys! our thoughts are with you!

is it really 1/8 though? i have one and it really looks small compared to my other 1/8 figures. was minmay that short? i'm still hoping a 1/6 would come out at some point, any version, any dress.

glad to see this thread is still alive. it's been quiet for a while. i'm cautiously optimistic about the shunya ghostbuster's girl. this product line from Kotobukiya has been pretty inconsistent for me. not to say that the quality is poor, on the contrary they are generally good, but the final products from this line seem to just miss in the x-factor that made the prototypes great. for example, the shunya psylocke prototypes shown on webshops was drool-worthy, but when i got mine i found the eyes were quite a bit "off". that come-hither expression was gone and if i stare at it long enough, the eyes even look a bit cross-eyed. same case for the catwoman. i recently saw them at my local store and again, the eyes and eyelids miss out on what made the prototype look coy. unfortunately, i had pre-ordered it and it's on it's way, so i'm keeping my fingers crossed that my copy will somehow be better than what i saw at the shops. i'll definitely wait for this ghostbusters figure at my local shop before i consider purchasing it. same goes for wonder woman. i don't know why koto seems to fumble this particular series. they are capable of producing good stuff, just look at their shining hearts/wind line. maybe they struggle when the eyes are less anime-like. thinking of the Orchid Seed Lineage II figures, Yamato Cammy, and the Alter Aozaki, i wish it was these guys that were producing this series.

don't know how i missed this when you originally started it, but thanks for compiling. really curious about what you call the unreleased track "Star Date", so i'll go and re-watch. the irony is, while there's a lot of BGMs that haven't been released, there's a couple of released tracks which i can't trace to an episode: "is this LOVE?" and another called "Twinkle" (or "Kira"). really love these two songs, but for the life of me, i just can't place them in the series

Your home Audio/A/V Hi-Fi System
Major Focker replied to Shaorin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
just go to monoprice.com for all your cable needs. they are as good if not better than branded cables. heard about them some years back from a few AV forums when i was looking for color coded HDMI cables. have been ordering from them since. my latest being flat HDMI cables and some swivel/angle adapters -- useful for wall mounting, or any tight space -
how big are these? hopefully 1/7 at least.
