just checking if there have been further updates. i've just cleared my cache and rebooted, but i'm still missing essential functionality. when i'm logged out, i see a nice new forum with the key functionality in place eg. thread page links. as soon as i log in, it reverts to a very basic appearance with very limited functionality. i can't find any link to access my profile or settings. and when i post there are no edit tools at all, just typing space and an add reply button. and since i can't find any way to add attachments, i just cut and paste here the links to my screenshots: logged-out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/scroogee/6265784662/ logged-in: http://www.flickr.com/photos/scroogee/6265784734/ i've tried both chrome and explorer, running on windows7. i can see other people are able to post pics, so i can only assume they are seeing something different and have core functionality. i don't. help?

mine's on the way too =) but not the top end set, just the hybrid one. question to those who've seen this movie and understands japanese: in your opinion, will watching this without understanding japanese significantly diminish the emotional impact of this movie? when i got the first movie i watched it raw then the fansubbed version some weeks later. sure i understood it better with the subbed second viewing, but i found that i didn't lose much when i first watched it raw. for this second movie, i gather there's a bit more drama so i'm cautious about the first viewing. thoughts?

Just received this in the mail: http://www.hlj.com/product/HBJ60276 At the time I pre-ordered it, there was only the cover and no description. I thought it was an artbook in the vein of the VF Masterfiles but with concept sketches and illustrations/artwork, and of course not covering just the VF's. It turned out to be a modelling book showcasing professional builds of the various MF kits released. It's not a bad book by any means, just not what I was expecting. The models shown were expectedly well-made and detailed, and there are pics of the build up and I imagine the text probably describes various techniques/tips. Highlights include: - Alto's beat up VF (see the HLJ link). This has already been featured in another book or magazine release. Just can't remember from where - Super-detailed MacQ scratchbuild in more realistic paintjob (again see the HLJ link) - Scratchbuilt VF-27 with beam effect. Looks illuminated, but there doesn't seem to be any mention of LEDs or build up pics of the gun - Detailed-up Yamato VB-6 - YF-29 in military grey There's a teaser for Vol.2 which apparently will cover earlier Macross licenses. It shows Hikaru's VF-1 in that iconic Bodolza assassination pose. Curious to see if the build up pics will show how the shoulders and chest were modified to be able to manage that pose.

that was the WTF-1 episode, right? i remember that for each page i read in that thread, another 2 pages were added in that time. crazy! but those were the days. hard to believe it's been 2 years now (or was it 3?). anyway, the BD's supposed to be released tomorrow, right? fortunately i was able to just now ask Amiami to combine this with another order that came due last week. can't wait. OT: speaking of Amiami, be sure to check your shipping charges, specially for small orders. they're a good seller and offer good prices but they tend to automatically assume SAL Parcel rather than SAL small packet, or at least they tend to use boxes a size or two bigger than needed. the order i mentioned above is a 1/72 aircraft kit (albeit a relatively big bird, the sea vixen) and i was being asked JPY2200 for SAL Parcel. i wrote to them that SAL w/ HLJ was just 740, so now they've sent me an apology saying that they misjudged the size and that it actually fits within SAL small packet dimensions (which actually fits most valks). i usually just pay as soon as i get their invoice, but now in hindsight i should've been more diligent. a lot of my orders from Amiami came in boxes that were 1/3 to 1/2 empty/filler. even if they would've been SAL Parcel anyway, can't help but think that the carton weight saved by using right-sized boxes might have shaved a few hundred yen. Sorry for the OT, just thought it might be a useful reminder.

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
Major Focker replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
i'm on the fence about this one. looking at the various pics, the fighter mode actually looks nice from most angles except straight on from the side. so i'm telling myself that when it's in my display case i'll hardly ever get to see the side view. i might actually buy it, but it's a question of how soon. if some of the comments here are any indication, this might be up for a deep discount later on. of course unless this is as limited as the YF-29 run. -
oh, wow! i've never seen a supervision army ship before (i know, shame on me), and now this made me want to learn all about them. did you get the 3D file or just the render? any chance you have orthographic views? I want to commission a resin model of this. i suppose i'll need to ask permission from the artist. this reminds me of a Starcraft wallpaper/loading screen, and that's meant as a compliment. nice composition, good execution. well done!

ok, so i've cleared my cache, cookies, etc. twice. and rebooted for good measure. now when i hit the forums i see the new look, which i actually like. but as soon as i log in, the theme changes to a barebones version like it was yesterday. and not all sub-forums are displayed. is this normal to expect until the upgrade is completed? or is there some other setting i need to flip (other than the "Change Theme" button which presents just one option)?

i'm missing the thread links which take you to the last page, and there are no other skin options when i click on the change theme button. or am i doing something wrong? or perhaps we have yet to see an updated MW skin which hopefully retains most of the previous functionality? -
clue please? Travel Reviews = Star Trek. don't know where the "Reviews" part came from though. i suppose from the star rating system in reviews that was my first thought actually. but i dismissed it, thinking it was too obvious Unforgiven?

I have the same predicament, but mainly on shelf (and box storage) space rather than cost. I'm moving house in about a month and though the size is similar, the layout is such that i'll have a smaller hobby room. Since I don't like cramming my displays, I guess I'll have to sell some stuff shortly. Sorry if OT, but thought I'd share the choices I'm facing (ones underlined never got out of the box): VF-1S Focker vs Hikaru vs Max VF-1D vs 1A Kakizaki vs 1J Hikaru vs 1J Millia VF-1J GBP vs Ozma Armored vs Armored Klang VF-11B vs 11C SV-51 Nora vs Ivanov VF-27 Brera vs CF VF-25F vs Fold Clear VF-22 Gamlin vs YF-22 VF-0A vs YF-19 w/ FB v1 VT-1 and VE-1 vs 1/72 models Legios and Tread CMS vs Aoshima/Toynami If I really push it, I'll also have to choose between Optimus vs Rodimus vs Daimos, and Yamato vs Andromeda vs Esmeralda I'm with you. Metal should be reserved just for the high stress parts and not too far from joints as much as possible. I appreciate the design dilemma though: metal feet make figures more stable when standing on their own but as soon as you put them on a stand, they just dangle the legs down unless the hips AND knees are ratcheted.
-
ah, good one. in hindsight, Stable is quite a direct translation
-
nope. blade runner comes through the double translation. but yes, the film is sci-fi actually, it's surprises me how most of the titles i try come through unscathed, and those that don't, have a key word intact which gives it away. here's an easier one: Infamous Fakes um, The English Patient?
-
you got it! i guess it wasn't that much harder after all. so let me try harder: Travel Reviews it's a totally weird double-translation, and i was surprised it came out that way. but i assure you that it's not an obscure film. at all.
-
correct! easy, right? something a bit harder: Monarch Wheels
-
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance? here's another easy one: Sheep Quiet Child lemme guess: equilibrium?

i was about to say that the price seemed about right for the launch truck, hence may be legit. then i realized that it was booster + pylon + launch truck, which would be at least $150 cheaper than what i paid for all 3 kits
-
can't seem to find this. direct link please? thanks

paranormal activity?

correct! not sure which translator is more eccentric so i tried another example. using excite to japanese then google back to english, i get "$ 1 silver". if use google first then excite, it gives "man of steel", which should be a very easy one to get. if i ran sucker punch through google first, then excite, it gives "a sudden punch" not sure if that proves google is better, but it leaves me with the impression that it is more literal, whereas excite takes more liberties on "creative" interpretation.
-
nah. when i said recent, i meant really recent. Pearl Harbor is actually unchanged through the excite-google double machine translation Star Wars becomes Star Dispute Stealth becomes Secret Surprise Attack, well, you won't see it coming
-
nope. clue: it's a recent movie. used excite then google. don't know though if doing the reverse will yield the answer. i imagine not.
-
nice try, but no.
