  1. many, many, many, many to the nth thanks for the heads up!
  2. nice figure collection. i finally got a saito and it's on its way now. who made the kenshin at the front-left?
  3. anthology of movie shorts ranging from weird to dramatic to arty to hilarious: Jam Films Jam Films 2 Jam Films S
  4. there was this japanese movie i caught on the plane which i wanted to get on DVD or BD but i forgot to take note of the title. so maybe someone will recognize it and let me know. - plot revolves around 4 women and how their lives interconnected through their city's commuter trains. - one woman was trying to come to grips with losing her fiance who got seduced by another and is now invited to their wedding. she shows up at the wedding wearing red and basically upstaging the bride. - on one of her train journeys, she meets a mild mannered older lady who gives her advice. this old lady also has her troubles, not the least of which is trying to blend with a trio of other madames who are a pretentious and obnoxious bunch. - the next woman is younger (20's) who's stuck with a good for nothing boyfriend - the last is a young girl but i can't remember what her issues were. maybe about being accepted in school, or fear of travelling alone IIRC, the title has some reference to seasons or spring or summer. any leads appreciated. thanks edit: just read the article and..... Shinobi? seriously? that was my most regrettable BD purchase
  5. hey, don't sweat it glad you like it. i'm not sure how popular it is, but i get the impression it's flying under the radar for most. at first i also thought it took from Minority Report but later the show just explored a lot more territory than MR touched on or even hinted at. i'm really amazed at how they fleshed out this future world and really thought through the logic and implications of nascent technologies on society, both in broad strokes and daily life minutiae. GoS was the first anime i saw which i thought was really deserving of 1080p. i think i'll go re-watch it too
  6. so while i'm desperately trying to find a source/seller for the Cosmo Falcon decal sheet, i came across this amazing build: http://arasukakobo.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-153.html unfortunately, i've been far less successful tracking down the decal sheet. i know it's hard to compete for your attention amidst the Yuki butt shots , but really appreciate any leads on this decal, or perhaps point me to a shop/service or someone who can print white on clear decal.
  7. i got a hunch, but i'd rather not be spoiled what is it with Yuki and ladders? first, the cockpit boarding ladder, now this (from ep14):
  8. anyone know where to get Mr.Color Yamato custom paints? they've released a new set for the Cosmo Zero and i still haven't found any sources for the previous paint sets i'm also still looking for the Cosmo Falcon decal set released by Yamatocrew. if anyone wants to sell or knows where to get some, please PM me. thanks oh, and more Yuki
  9. well apparently i do, else i wouldn't be asking. i know you have a thing for retro equipment and i can relate to that with regards to analog audio gear, but not when it comes to video. not all DVD sources upscale well to a 55" screen. so what may be good enough for you, may not be so for some.
  10. any recommendations on anime that have been released on bluray? i'm slightly more interested in older anime that made their way to bluray (eg. Cowboy Bebop), but i don't mind more recent anime either.
  11. i was about to ask if anyone noticed that there seemed to be a disproportionate amount of fanservice in ep11-12, particularly butt shots.
  12. great dio, derex! where'd you get the stormtroopers? are they 1/72 or 1/144 -ish?
  13. just watched first dozen or so episodes of Soul Eater and enjoying it. i just love it when i chance upon an anime not on my radar and end up liking it.
  14. got this about a month ago but i've been travelling so much i only got to open it now. it's amazing! totally changed my perception of TP TFs. love the feel of the plastic. for one, it's matte, second, it has a bit of the pliability of PVC which means stiff enough to lock rigidly but soft enough so one doesn't have to fear breaking tabs. i swapped the heads and used the older version. the newer one looks like "a senile old man with shades", as one reviewer puts it. just love the chunkiness of this figure!
  15. so close.... i had clicked add to cart and waited and waited, then server went bust...
  16. San Jose, huh? guess that gives me a good excuse to visit my parents. <Arrives from airport> Hi ma! looking good! i'm just gonna grab some coffee and catch up with my little brother here...

has there been a release date announced for the new MaxFactory Sheryl?
  18. there was supposedly an official paint set by GSI Creos/Mr.Color, but i haven't been able to find a store or webshop carrying them. as for the Mekakore Meranka,i'm still not sure if they meant matching the scale of the Dengeki Cosmo Falcon which is 1/126, or if they meant being in line with the box scale practice of the Mekakore line. if the latter, then that Meranka is going to be significantly smaller than 1/144, which would be a bummer.
  19. so Mecha Collection = mini kit = the Cosmo Falcon that came with the January Dengeki magazine? i thought the Yamato Mecha Collection was "box scale" ie. all over the place? also read that the Dengeki Cosmo Falcon is around 1/126, so if i put it those bits together, does that mean that the extra Meranka is going to be pretty close to 1/144? that'll be sweet if that was the case, although that would mean buying multiples of the Polmeria set.
  20. oh wow! this is really a renaissance of sorts for Yamato. i really liked the bombers, but figured they were a long shot. and now this guess we'll also be seeing the tanks eventually.
  21. ooh, that would be insta-buy for me too! come to think of it, i don't have a figure yet that has tattoos. any recommendations? i think part of the reason why i tend to pick up figures in kimonos is because of the intricate patterns, so i think tattoos are a natural extension of that.
  22. just curious: what's the difference between gasha and trading figures? i always thought they were one and the same, and use both terms loosely and interchangeably.
  23. ah, facebook. that figures why i'd miss the news.
  24. been waiting for this for quite a while. i don't think it ever got off the ground though. where did you hear the Q1 2013 launch date?
  25. found the perfect antidote for my Requiem for the Phantom hang up: re-watched the last episode (25) of Steins;Gate. now all is right again with the world. what a perfect way to end a great series. sadly, proper closure seems to be a dying art in anime these days. they say the best stories are those that are left open to interpretation. while i tend to agree, i've seen very few examples of a shock ending, final twist, or ambiguous ending done right. which series/OVAs did you think had either strong fitting endings (not necessarily happy, eg. Gurren Lagann) or were legitimately ambiguous? which series/OVAs were lazily left unresolved, or WTF from out of nowhere, or just trolling?
