  1. box set or not doesn't really matter to me. my main point is that i wish all the episodes have been aired, all the BDs bought, so i can already spend weekend after weekend doing yamato 2199 marathons from start to finish.
  2. i need to find a time machine and skip on over to when the BD box set is for sale. the wait is just torture...
  3. help me decide? or the first is a 1/6 GK and nearly twice the price of the second one which is 1/7 PVC
  4. thanks. i presume by revival stuff you meant Yamato: Resurrection? that piqued my interest as well.
  5. has Yamato 2nd season been released on bluray? i don't intend to watch the original 1st season, nor to go through all the past material. so which ones would you consider "essential" or recommended watching besides the 2nd season? kindly mention if it's a movie or series. thanks
  6. well, the 1/350 Yamato is 76cm, but then again it's THE Yamato. having said that, the 1/400 Musai is 60cm and arguably,Bandai has the same reverence towards Yamato as they do to Gundam. considering Bandai seems to be pulling out all the stops, there may be an off chance a 1/1000 Domelus will see the light of day. as for the Gaiperon, they were labeled as assault carriers, so i took that to mean they would be battleship size at best, which is still only half the size of the Domelus. they probably intended the Domelus to be the biggest and baddest in the fleet. i want the Seagull more than the T-100, but i'll take both of course anyone know if the latest Dengeki will come with a mini kit like the Cosmo Falcon in the January issue?
  7. kinda surpised (but, pleasantly) with Gamilas Set#2. Someone in another forum mentioned that according to the magazine scan below, Set#2 would be the same as Set#1 (Destoria and Kelkapia) with the new smaller Kripitera thrown in, presumably in lie of the freebie Pluto satellite. but i don't think that would've made sense since the Kripitera, while small, is a lot more plastic than the satellite, hence couldn't possibly be a freebie. so i take it that Amiami has the correct Set#2 info ie. Gaiderol battleship plus a couple of Kripitera. i wonder what the freebie would be? so we now have Set#1 (Destoria, Kelkapia) and Set#2 (Gaiderol, Kripitera). that leaves the Meltoria, Domelus III, Gaiperon carriers, and UX-01 submarine. the Domelus is probably going to be a kit by itself because it's huge. the Meltoria is smaller than the Gaiderol but a bit bigger than the Destoria, while the UX-01 are a bit smaller than the Kripitera. so maybe Set#3 will be 1 Meltoria + 2 UX-01? and perhaps Set#4 will be a pair of Gaiperon carriers and a flight of fighters, plus maybe the Delamaya assault ship?
  8. yummy bears. how about yummy mama bear? MC046672 by scroogee, on Flickr
  9. and Production I.G. stuff tend to go at least 2 seasons...
  10. i think so too. and i would add that this is typical of many noir stories ie. things come full circle or case closed, back to business as usual, on the surface seemingly regardless of how dramatic the events that transpired were, but deep scars/ turmoil just beneath the skin. conveniently, this style of storytelling lends itself well to sequels, though often it is also just to deliberately leave it open ended. maybe i'm being hopeful, but this last episode seemed mostly a preamble for a potential sequel.
  11. a bit OT, but still yamato: ordered it right away
  12. actually, it's the VE-11 which caught my eye..
  13. yeah, i knew about that. i just thought you meant they were already available.
  14. wait, Monsterarts Vajra? where?
  15. thanks for the heads up on roberta. and i do hope we get a 3rd barrage. yeah, the romanian twins were pretty messed up, but the show only briefly touched on how they got to be that way. if the director really wanted to go for a dark treatment, he would've done more exposition on how the twins were "broken". but don't get me wrong, i like the tone of the series just as it is. call me jaded, but i consider it a light entertaining treatment of a dark subject. kinda like Black Lagoon = Pulp Fiction, and Psycho-pass = Seven. i don't mind some beach scenes so i'll probably continue with Muvluv until that episode then decide if i want to finish it or not
  16. 1. if it looks really cool, then it's insta-buy up to $200, regardless if i know the subject or the source material it was from 2. beyond $200 (or if it's not insta-buy cool) i look for gimmicks or more importantly, craftsmanship/artistry. that's how i ended up with some expensive statues. 3. my tastes are biased towards mechanically detailed stuff, even if i don't actually like the series so much. for example, the Formania Sazabi (http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN963194) was an insta-buy though i'm not a Gundam fan. 4. i avoid re-paints of same mold. only exceptions are the SDF-1 and VF-1S. i keep stuff that aren't exactly the same mold, eg. Kakizaki because of the 1A head, but i'm selling YF-21 because its only difference with VF-22 is the transparency of the canopy 5. for figures, just one of each character, except for Sheryl (so sue me). i gravitate towards kick-ass babes that have BFGs or huge swords/blades. lately, i've noticed kimonos seem to be a common theme in my collection. i avoid excessive nudity (eg. some Kanu figs), so Sheryl costumes are just about borderline 6. i'm strongly biased towards standard scales (20,35,72,144/150, 700) except when i already have something in that scale (eg. 1/60) 7. bigger is not necessarily better, but i do avoid figures smaller than 1/8 unless they're the only ones available, and conversely i draw the line at 1/5 my modus operandi: - i trawl through the New Items section in HLJ, Amiami, Hobbysearch ) regardless if it's a toy, model, book, or trading figure - if something catches my fancy, i search for other items from the same series and/or different permutations of the same character - i also checkout the recommendations/"what others have bought/viewed" on the item webpage, and in turn i checkout what series they were from and so forth...
  17. just finished Black Lagoon and 2nd Barrage and it was so much fun, particularly the aptly titled Roanapur Freakshow and the couple of episodes leading up to it. for some reason, none of the synopsis/descriptions i've read on anime sites managed to pique my interest for Black Lagoon. good thing i decided to give it a go after sitting on the DVDs for a couple of years. i don't know what people were talking about Black Lagoon being very dark though. Psycho-pass is far darker despite the lower body count. Blood+ was also great, though there were some repetitive, melodramatic moments. on the fence about buying Blood-C series as it's had mixed reviews. or maybe i'm confusing with the Blood-C OVA? Saw a couple of episodes of Muvluv Alternative: Total Eclipse. not sure if i want to continue. it seems to be trying too hard.
  18. i would re-buy my entire collection even if all they do is shrink the v2 1/60 down to 1/72 but keeping PT and gimmicks bonus if they add working navlights and afterburners. they should check out what Tomytech is doing in their Gimix line eg. F-14 with working jet propulsion and lighting afterburners in 144! also on my wishlist is a new line in 144, non-transforming, basic articulation. the CMs 144 valks were good, but still short of the F-Toys Star Wars, and we never got the gerwalks, nor battroids, nor enemy mechs. i've been trying to resist, but i fear i will inevitably be a train otaku. recently, i've bought quite a number of N-scale (1/150) buildings and vehicles and couldn't help but dream of Regults rampaging on the streets.
  19. exactly the same thing i'm doing. just got to 2nd barrage. it's been amusing for me partly because i've been to some of the places mentioned, and indeed they are a long way from the usual tourist spots. i'm also alternating with Blood+
  20. want the 3D poster too! anyone selling, please PM. thanks.
  21. thank you very much! is it OT to mention movies set in Japan but not a Japanese production? eg. Lost in Translation, Black Rain, Wasabi, Hunted if not OT, would love to hear recommendations.
  22. hilarious! where do you guys find those image clips i know NY and AE, but what is HK and HKC?
  23. thanks. i think i found it (http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN972873) so no need to look for the box. that'll be a royal pain given the size of your collection. i didn't realize the Figuarts line had some fixed pose figures and had always ignored them since i don't like jointed stuff (except for mechanical ones). looks smallish though, i guess 1/10? anyway, i'll be hunting this down.
