(maybe OT, but it comes with figures ) got lucky on YAJ as this auction went uncontested. almost 50% off. it's my first die-cast car outside of the 007 collection. now i'm thinking, there must be more cool cars from anime that have been turned into 1/18 die-cast. Ozma's Lancia comes to mind. i haven't heard of any Ozma-specific releases but it should be doable to custom decal one. Batou also had a Lancia. there's also Speed Racer (but it's $300 and i don't like it that much). i wonder if there was ever a Daimos car in 1/18. open to suggestions. one of these days i'm going to watch Evangelion, and based on what you guys have written about it, i'll probably end up liking it. but for now, i'm just going to celebrate my luck, stumbling on this find while i was actually trawling YAJ for a 1/18 Aston Martin V8 Vantage (The Living Daylights), my holy grail.

as per HLJ Alto Ex-Gear is 16cm (not sure if that's bare, or with the armor on). so it's a little small for 1/10 scale. the Banpresto DXF line has figures ranging from 15-18cm, the Sheryl Nurse is 16cm. she will be over scale compared to Alto, but same height. unfortunately, that's as close as you can get. if you want Alto to fool around, CMS Minmay is 17cm...

wow, somebody pinch me. i think i'm having a wet dream i'm glad that my optimism from a few pages ago regarding the Domelus is turning out to be well served. i'll order that one with my eyes closed and just bet that it'll still be same or cheaper than a Bandai valk. i mean, 80cm real-world 1/350 carriers go for $80-150, and those come with a ton of accessories, sometimes including PE. so unless they make the Domelus akin to the epic, all-singing, all-dancing 1/350 Yamato kit, it should be quite affordable. so the Meltoria will indeed come with the UX-01. i wonder what the Mekakore freebie will be? i hope it's one of the Gamilas fighters. wondering why the 3 ships left of the Polmeria are of a different color. perhaps an elite guard set comprised of the Destoria, Kelkapia and Kriptera? and what the heck is that thing hovering above and to the left of the Polmeria? it looks like the Polmeria but also slighty different, aside from the coloring. maybe it'll also be part of the elite guard set? that's going to be a big box, but i'm all for it if they include multiples of in-scale fighters. i'm starting to worry though about the chances of getting Mekakore freebies of the Seagull and T-100 since all the UNCN ships are already out. OT, but i can't help but think how utterly awesome it would've been if Meltrandi ships got the same love from Bandai.

yeah, it's quite a unique base. i'm actually contemplating on getting it just for the base, lol! speaking of bases, here's a rather unusual one: the figure itself does nothing for me though, so it's a pass. checked out both Hanekawa figures today. sadly, i walked away empty handed because the faces just seemed off to me, more so in person. guess, i'll hold off until a new sculpt comes along. but since i've got Bakemono-fever pretty bad, i ended up buying this Shinobu instead: i'll be picking her up tomorrow. what i really wanted though was Shinobu's original form: too bad GSC is postponing her release until the Kizumono movie comes out, which from what i've been reading, might be a very long wait. i'm smacking my head for not getting the painted GK version of this a few months ago. i had her on my watchlist then, even before i knew who she was. unfortunately i didn't act fast enough on the email notification. bummer...

thanks Jefuemon. i wouldn't mind these Volks figure kits if they had at least already painted the face, and maybe shaded the hair. moving on, i've just watched Bakemonogatari and now want a Hanekawa. except for K-On's Azusa who came with a cat ears headband, i never thought i'd consider buying a cat-eared figure. anyway, i'm torn between two figures yet again: first up, Alter 1/7. nice dynamic pose and wild hair, flirty cleavage then, there's 1/8 Kotobukiya. very interesting base and same scale as my Hitagi the thing is, neither of them really nails the face sculpt. while both of them indeed capture Neko-Hanekawa's playful personality, no hint at all of her sadistic streak. i'm kinda hoping it would be something like the pic below, but i haven't heard of any new Hanekawa figures. so i'm wondering if i should settle for one of the above, or wait for something new, maybe coming from the more recent Nekomonogatari or Kizumonogatari shows. thoughts?

a year or so ago i bought a Senjougahara Hitagi figure (the one with staplers, scissors and whatnot falling out of her skirt) because i thought it was an interesting piece despite now knowing what anime series she was from (i do that a lot). that was that until recently a colleague lent me her Bakemonogatari discs, and i was blown away! i like arthouse films so i guess i found this to be the anime equivalent. plus Hitagi reminded me of a college gf. now i gotta buy myself a copy and pay my respects to this anime. -
anyone here got any experience with the Charagumin line from Volks? (http://www.volks.co.jp/en/charagumin/whats.html/) they're supposed to be assemble-it-yourself figure kits using pre-colored resin parts. by pre-colored, i assume this means molded in color (like gunpla) rather than pre-painted pieces? and so that would mean they are basically flat in color ie. no shading nor painted details?

memory wire (not to be confused by same-named material for making bracelets) is also known as muscle wire or nitinol wire. the single state variety can be deformed in any fashion and still revert to its memorized state/shape when heat (or electricity) is applied. the double state variety memorizes two states/shape, say a square when "off" and a star when "on" (ie. powered). by turning the current on or off they can be used to actuate stuff:

i skipped the last Sheryl because i didn't like the costume. this one's got my interest though. is the nurse Sheryl the same scale as the Basara version? i skipped the SQ line thinking it was too small, something like 1/10. but now that i've got Basara Sheryl, i now know it's actually around 1/8 maybe even 1/7. so now i'm thinking of tracking down the nurse Sheryl too, unless someone here tells me it's smaller scale than the Basara version. i want a full on Sharon Apple!
