is it just the lighting, or have they tweaked the body color? seems to lean more towards orange now rather than purple. i like it. might end up getting one and displaying it without the FP anyway. my v1 will then be on permanent fighter mode.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Major Focker replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
actually, if they keep with this 1:1 anime ep to manga chapter pace, they might need a season 3. chapter 46 just seems to be the lull before the start of another major story arc. -
a recent order of mine that was also labeled "For sale in Japan only" was processed anyway, so i figure it's ok. http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?scode=FIG-MOE-6039

i have an order with otacute which i was about to cancel. i'd like to help a fellow member, but at the same time i don't want to be stuck with an extra if the buyer flakes out. so i'll probably do this only with upfront payment, as unsavory as that might sound. also, does otacute allow changing of shipping address? planning to cancel by monday if no takers.

Man of Steel - Superman movie has a director
Major Focker replied to Mr March's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
EXO pretty much summed it up for me. as i said earlier, i liked the Tekken moves, but the destructive city battle would've been ok if they a) it wasn't so drawn out b) they somehow showed it couldn't be helped that they had to fight in the city c) supes had to rescue a few citizens every now and then to show he at least cared and was mindful of the destruction plus they forgot to show the scene where Fiora was undoing the zips on her legs and arms i'm probably in the minority, but i thought Superman Returns was a better movie. at the very least it had more heart, rather than angst. i'm also wondering whether the difference in the portrayal of Supes childhood is a reflection of our times, then and now.- 442 replies

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Major Focker replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
gah! i'm hooked on Oreimo! Me-ru meru meru meru meru meru me~ i screwed up in the sequencing though. i had watched the first 3 or 4 episodes then went on a business trip. i resumed when i got back and it felt disjointed at first but i went with it as the story development was getting interesting. after a handful of episodes they were doing flashbacks i haven't seen and pretty sure i would've recalled if i did. that's when i realized i goofed and was watching season 2 backtracking now and checking out Kuroneko stuff. -

you're so right. even if i've read the manga and know what's going to happen next, the anime still manages to tense me up. and the scenes where they're flying about, it's just a wonder to behold. curious if they used motion capture for reference? in this latest episode, i thought the musical score was particularly good. and believe it or not, this is actually the first time i've heard the entire OP. i didn't know there were rock bits in the middle. i liked it. really gets the blood going. i'll look into the composer and check out his other work. and that speech by Pixis sure beats a lot of what Hollywood puts out, particularly Eric Bana's in Troy. edit: you guys are making me curious about Oreimo and Maria Holic. my first thought is that it's not my cup of tea, but recently, i've been so wrong about what kind of animes i thought i like. fortunately, it's been more of pleasant surprises rather than disappointments -
my otacute account status says "Waiting." does that mean they're waiting for my payment, or waiting for stock? haven't received any emails, and i checked the junk folder too

i have a backlog of a dozen games or so, and i only get to play one game a month (if i'm lucky), so it may be a while before i switch to PS4. unless they release ZOE3 within the year...- 6756 replies

indeed, that was the name on the amiami page. what i meant was, that other than the name, i knew nothing about her or the game, but looks cool anyway, so insta-buy.

no idea who she is, but ordered right away

many thanks, westfall. so the Meranka turns out to be ~1/130. guess i thought wrong and imagined it like B-2 bomber-sized, when in universe it's more like the WWII Horten Ho229. (duh, probably why they call it DWG229) i also measured the Cosmo Falcon and it actually comes to ~1/160 based on a 6.8m span from the yamato2199 site. i could've sworn i read somewhere that it was supposed to be 1/129 or 1/139. anyway, i put the sprues side by side and they look good together, so i'm happy

received the Polmeria today. the box isn't as big as i had feared. anyone here know the wingspan spec of the Meranka bomber? the included Mekakore kit has a 150cm wingspan. it looks too small to be 1/144, which is a bit of a disappointment since i was hoping it would be fairly in scale with the Dengeki Cosmo Falcon. OT: so two same-sized big boxes arrived, one from HLJ, the other from Amiami. shipping cost of the HLJ one was about 1500 yen cheaper even if it was actually a bit heavier and was EMS (the Amiami was SAL parcel). this peeved me a bit since this was the 4th package in as many months where i had to pay almost 6k yen for Amiami SAL. anyway, we all know Amiami likes to use oversized boxes. i weighed this latest box and it was 1390g, with all the paper they stuffed inside it was 1970g. so almost 2kg of a total package weight of 5.4kg. that's a crazy ratio anyway i look at it. really makes me appreciate the air-filled bags and reasonably sized boxes that HLJ uses. so i guess i'll be breaking up my Amiami orders into smaller parcels which will likely work out cheaper anyway, or better yet, i'll just shift more of my orders to HLJ.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Major Focker replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
i've been taking it easy and watching light fare. Hidan no Aria was nicely animated but the story was pretty forgettable. the gunplay could've been kicked up a notch and made it more interesting, and arguably it wasn't ecchi enough to be funny. Highschool DxD on the other hand went to other end of the scale on the ecchi-ness and hilariously succeeded. that killer move "Dress Breaker" was just brilliant. Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka is far less explicit but even more ridiculously entertaining. it pokes fun at various elements of anime culture and holds nothing sacred. a cross-dressing zombie? check. tsundere potty-mouth? check. moe? in spades. it's also pretty crazy how it swings from heart warming to hilarity without skipping a beat. gotta get my hands on season 2. -
the scifi selection was meh, but i went crazy with the scale military sale. resin at styrene prices.

i jumped on the pink Kobu pre-order a few weeks ago thinking it might be a one-off. really pleased they're releasing the other variants which i think are cooler. guess i can now unload my Kobu model kits. IIRC, wasn't there a HAW206 previously? also hope they re-issue the Armsuit.

wish it came with speaker pods and foldbooster
