  1. you're welcome. curious, where did you place your order for the Garmillas book? it's already closed at HS and can't find it on HLJ nor amiami
  2. i've had that on the shelf for a while. how does it compare to Ergo Proxy?
  3. - yamato (naturally) - muramase and yukikaze in one page - cosmo zero - cosmo falcon - gaiderol - destoria - kelkapia - polmeria they're just orthographic views though, no interior or zoom detail. for that you need the earth book. btw, yamamoto just arrived, and she's lovely
  4. while mikasa doesn't strike me as machiavellian, that doesn't mean she's not psycho...
  5. first time here. i should be paying more attention to this thread.
  6. pass for me. might not be able to resist though if it was Akeno or Xenovia... oops, did i just admit to watching DxD
  7. picked up Takara Metroplex yesterday but too busy to take him out of the box. wanted to pose him with Green Giant aka not-Devastator.
  8. lol! so true. i've nothing at all on Mikasa. if anything, she's the one giving up a lot of things she wants or would rather have her way (eg. not joining the survey corps, or the army in the first place), all so she can make sure little Eren is safe and warm. but when the situation calls for it (ie. Eren in danger, or Eren can't make up his damn mind), she takes charge. so yeah i can appreciate (a little bit) how that might be seen as self-serving.
  9. picked this up at my local kinokuniya quite handy if one doesn't regularly buy Dengeki Hobby magazine. this book collects yamato 2199 articles from various issues, and presumably some new content, though i suspect not much. the main draw of course are the 5 dioramas: Cosmo Falcon launch bay, Gamilas asteroid base, Gamilas carrier at hangar loading Meranka(s), Meranka strafing civilians, Gamilas tanks scouting a forest. they are simply inspiring, if not downright jaw dropping.
  10. dammit! i was supposed to watch Nadeko Medusa in one go. but you guys made me peek...Nadeko is so kawaii! was it the same VA throughout the last episode?! such wicked fun! i caved at the worst possible episode though. that cliffhanger was mean. just watched Mayoi Vamp and i think it's one of my favorite arcs. really can't explain why, specially considering how awesome the Tsubasa Tiger arc was, and that other arcs from previous seasons were all consistently incredible as well. perhaps it's because this arc had a lot of Shinobu (in kimono and twin buns no less). or maybe it's because this is one of the few were the titular character of the arc wasn't saved by a self realization. or maybe it's just a well crafted story. it strikes me as similar to side stories in the Sandman comic, in the sense that at first it feels like a self-contained story outside of the main continuity, but in Gaiman fashion, it is inevitably revealed that it is intricately woven to the overall tale and that it will have profound implications we have yet to see. and i want a Hachikuji/Lara Croft PVC! in other news: - Kill la Kill is going to be one heck of a ride. thanks to the guys who brought it up. - Coppelion has such gorgeous backgrounds but the character animation is subpar. it's like someone was drawing manga on clear acetate and it was overlayed onto a renaissance painting - i've also been entertaining myself with doses of The Daily Lives of High School Boys. i stumbled onto it while randomly following links on youtube. the first one i saw was this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCa0eh-I1iQ
  11. boom! a tantalizing piece of the puzzle drops on the table, but nobody knows where it fits just yet.
  12. i'm in. i don't recall the motoslave ever looking this badass though i like.
  13. i think i'll go for this one: it will easily be the most unusual piece in my collection
  14. for me, 14in and 4lbs is the upper limit to what i would consider portable. the weight is what i'm more mindful of since my backpack will always have 3-4lbs of camera gear at any time. when i game, i just hook it up to a big flatscreen and the home theater system. i actually don't game much when i travel, but i didn't want a dedicated desktop for gaming and then need a separate laptop for traveling. that might actually have cost more. six years ago, i could still justify the desktop because it doubled as my HTPC and laptops really weren't that powerful enough for games. nowadays, smartTVs and NAS fulfill the HTPC role and laptops can decently run even resource intensive games.
  15. i think the BD is out only towards end of the year. i'm really keen to see it.
  16. razer blade 14 has i7-4702 and GTX-765 but is thinner than a macbook air and weighs 4lbs :http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-systems/razer-blade bought one last month. sadly, other than taking it out of the box and drooling over it, i have yet to power it on
  17. so i cancelled my order with CDJ and they refunded me the same amount (15,410 yen) i paid them (item cost+shipping). however, i didn't get the full amount in my paypal balance, only 14,692 yen. so it's either: 1) instead of refunding the original payment transaction, CDJ "paid" me the refund and so paypal charged me a transaction fee as they saw this refund as a completely new/different transaction from the original. can't really blame CDJ as i heard direct refunding is only possible within 60 days of the original transaction 2) or CDJ was able to do a direct refund but paypal decided to keep the fees from original transaction. supposedly this is one of their recent policy changes, based on what i've googled so far i've lost 718 yen but saved 1820 yen by ordering at HS, so i'm still up. charge it to experience. another thing i learned is that one can keep the refunded amount in the currency it was sent. hence, i now have a paypal balance in yen which i intend to use for other yen transactions to avoid further erosion because of paypal forex.
  18. both have pacing issues, but at least Blood+ had different stuff happening while it was meandering, whereas Blood C seems stuck on a rinse-repeat cycle for a good part of the season. arguably, one could just watch the first episode of Blood C then skip to the last 2 or 3.
  19. great episode to end Toaru Kagaku No Railgun S. really enjoyed this second season, more than the first and much more than either season of its parent anime Toaru Majutsu no Index. not that i didn't enjoy those too, but Railgun S was just more fun, and had really epic episodes mid-season where the musical score, the animation, the VA and the setting just came together to create something memorable. so with this, and Blood Lad and Attack on Titan now finished, i have 3 slots to fill. maybe i'll pick up Infinite Stratos, maybe also re-start Madoka (admittedly i struggled to get past the first few episodes). any other recent/current animes? what is "Macross Frontier (with Grace's Report)"?
  20. what about Armin's philosophy is horrendous? i'm curious.
  21. hmmm... maybe i should check it out again. i dropped it after just the first episode.
  22. it was actually up at HLJ yesterday. anyway, it's just on order stop now, so just check back every now and then since they are now sending payment requests so potentially re-releasing some cancelled orders soon.
