1/5000 will be much more practical and still huge at 80cm. plus there are SDF-1 kits and the transforming Wave toy in the same scale. 1/2500 is an odd scale for Macross. i think the Salan scout is the only kit in that scale. between that and a 1/3000 SDF-1, it's no contest.

Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan)
Major Focker replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
that was actually from OST2 (which was as awesome as the first). SnK is on the top of this list http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6__sXJW4Fus&feature=player_detailpage i would have gone with E.M.A. though, or the first track from OST2 which kicked off the medley you posted.- 353 replies

had fun with Infinite Stratos. man, i'm turning out to be a sucker for harem animes. Cecilia was the hottest, and the naughtiest. she also reminds me of Jura. but i'll go with Chifuyu. does that still count as sis-con? lol'd at digs on english cuisine, and reciting pi decimals. -
looks awesome!

depends on what you mean by HUGE. there was already one in resin about 20 inches.

oh man! finally, a Sera figure! but 1/4! gah, i'm so unlucky. and she looks better in normal clothes too.

i'm genuinely surprised. you can start with Nekomonogatari Kuro which stars Hanekawa and is chronologically the first (at least until the Kizu movie comes out). and it's only 4 episodes. having said that, i really would recommend watching the various series in order of release. Bakemonogatari (the first to air) is well suited to sporadic viewing since it is structured in 4-5 episode arcs. the first arc though is focused on Senjougahara, and Hanekawa's arc is not until later in the series, but she does show up in nearly all episodes. c'mon, get going! you're missing out on the awesomeness. p.s. yay! for Bakemono thread

Macross Collectibles Market Watch - Current Auction/Store SOLD prices
Major Focker replied to jvmacross's topic in Toys
i'm selling mine with the foldbooster for lower than that, even lower if i keep the foldbooster. -
westfall, thanks. myk, i've read the girls are supposedly by Banpresto, which usually means non-scale. if they are Ichiban Kuji, then that's somewhere between 1/6 to 1/7, otherwise between 1/8 to 1/10. looks more like the latter size range to me.

okaaay... let's look at something more interesting than finger hair. Bellerophon from SSM found these and i thought i'd share them here: http://dorobou.blog.so-net.ne.jp/ i've bookmarked that site some years ago when he was building star destroyers. i really should drop by more often. the Haizerad seems to be paired with a very interesting companion, the assault dropship. i can't make out though what the carriers will be coming with sadly, still no mention of the Domelus release date

having savored the movie in my mind for a day, i think i can say few more words. during the movie, i was reminded of the game Homeworld, mainly because of how Clooney delivered his lines, exuding composure under pressure. it's reminiscent of the deadpan radio chatter in Homeworld (Frigate reports contact... we are coming under fire.. repeat...coming under fire...). i've read some folks found Clooney's character and/or portrayal boring, but i found the character absolutely fascinating. someone who plays it easy because he can, being truly a veteran and an expert in his field. and his character plays off well against Bullock's who's also an expert in her field, but a fish out of water in space. a number of reviews have picked up on the theme "triumph over adversity", which is completely true, but what may not be so obvious is that the adversity here is not just in space, but also in their personal lives. the ingenious thing is that this is all conveyed through the excellent dialogue. here are two ordinary people, who made themselves able to do extraordinary things through dedication and training, yet remain fallible to the basic human needs of air, gravity, a home, someone to belong to. i have to wonder if those who didn't connect to the characters were actually paying attention, or were too focused on the action, or perhaps just jaded. while i was googling on how they filmed Gravity, i came across this article: http://io9.com/all-the-ways-hollywood-tried-to-ruin-gravity-1442130153 i'm just so glad they stuck to their guns and ignored the hollywood execs. what made the movie work was its simplicity, in the same way some short stories can hit harder than full length novels. then again that just might be me, as i've always been more inclined to short fiction rather than generation-spanning stories.

Macross Mechanics 30th - new book by Hobby Japan
Major Focker replied to cool8or's topic in Collectors
just got my copy. a couple of notables which might sway the undecided: 1) battlepod cabin interior 2) VF-1S battroid Bodolza assassination pose those who've built Hase battroids or own any VF-1 toys (except maybe Revoltechs) know that you can't do this pose and have all the guns pointing forward. here they made a shoulder modification for a pretty convincing pose. get this book and don't bother with Model Art's RR Mechanics Vol.3, which was very boring (basic builds) and pretty much just duplicates Macross Mechanics 30th but in bland fashion. RR Mechanics does also feature Space Battleship Yamato and her escort ships, but again, the builds were just uninspiring. Dengeki's and Hobby Japan's builds just blows theirs out of the water. really disappointed in Model Art. maybe they're just too focused on military subjects to do any justice to the sci-fi genre. -
What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Major Focker replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Monogatari edit: you know i'm still wondering why Titan has its own thread and we never started one for Bakemono which has 2 seasons (counting Nise) and an OVA (Kuro), the current ongoing series, a planned series in 2014 (Hana) and likely a 3rd season series or OVA before that, and lastly the Kizu movie always being dangled as a possibility. so has anyone checked this out yet? -
sorry to disappoint. it's only a gashapon
