  1. hope the 1/72 hovertanks will be available in 3 modes. actually, i don't care much for battroid, but i'll get it anyway. i'm certainly in for a transforming 1/48. probably a pair.
  2. ordered. strange that this seems to have gone unnoticed. i thought people would be all over this.
  3. insta-buy if with subs.
  4. i'm probably alone in this, but i think it would've looked better with less panel lines, particularly some of the minor vertical ones. it would've been fine if the grooves were narrower, but that's probably tough at this scale. this shot: made me think of donuts
  5. started listing my stuff: http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/scrooge this might take a while..
  6. what will they think of next?
  7. i guess you're far from halfway done listing your stuff i've only been using that website to scan for upcoming stuff or to research on items that weren't mass released like GK and limited issues.i guess it would be pretty handy to also use it as an inventory. my excel file proved adequate initially but then as the collection grew and i started buying stuff that went directly to storage when i didn't have display space immediately available, there were cases when i couldn't recall what an item looked like though i had listed it in the file, or which particular version it is. as shared previously, i have a habit of picking up stuff simply purely on aesthetics/coolness even when i have no prior knowledge of the subject. when i relocated recently, i also had a sobering thought: i was allocated a 40-foot container which to my surprise was fully used, and over a third of it were toys, figures, model kits. when i moved to that country a few years ago, i managed with just a 20-foot container.
  8. i like the way you think. while i'm at it, i probably should get a separate display cabinet
  9. this is gonna sound weird, but i hope who ever invented cast-off, will also develop cast-on options to make some figures less, er, exposed. absolutely gorgeous face sculpt and painting on this one. but as my collection is pretty tame, i'm afraid it will be out of place in the display area.
  10. thanks. never did manage to watch that one. eeenie, meennie, miny, moe no contest, really. specially the DX version
  11. you forgot this: should be out in a few weeks. this is from a few pages back. OT, but i'm curious what it is and what series it's from
  12. i'd say see it through to episode 8 then decide. i would've unconditionally recommended it but you did mention that the storytelling style may not be to your liking. it is unorthodox in that aspect, among other things, and there are certainly going to be more flashbacks (and a number of feints and misdirection), so it may not be for you. the casting and characterizations are very deliberate and for good reason-- the story revolves around an intricately crafted logic structure and the narrative style of exposition and juxtaposition means that it becomes almost necessary for the characters to be polar opposites, foil-counter foil, distinct facets/personalities. a debate would be far less interesting to watch if both sides were always taking the middle ground. the show actually invests a lot on character building, showing their histories (yep, a lot through flashbacks), and exploring their underlying motives. note i said character building and not development. the characters do not develop per se because of the narrative reasons i mentioned earlier. they pretty much stay the same and remain in-character, but you do get to know them better so your opinion of some of the characters might change as you go along. only one of the main characters undergo actual development, but i thought that was actually a bad idea and at times cringe-inducing. personally, i thought it was one of the best shows i saw last year. it did demand quite a bit of foreplay, at times bordering on indulgence, but ultimately proved satisfying. i've read afterwards that it came up against a number of fan-favorite (and i imagine, more accessible) animes at the time of its original airing. if not for that, and a serious lull at the start of the second half, it probably would've enjoyed more popularity. as it is, it'll likely remain a well rated but hidden gem.
  13. there seems to be a virus going around.. <cough> hovertank <cough> <cough> pretty infectious...
  14. got one tile to 1024, but more out of luck. i blame you for my eyebags
  15. probably not. Saeko has more of a svelte and athletic figure. it is infinitely a much better though than the Saeko i have. really terrible sculpt but it is the only one i could get my hands on
  16. actually, "box scale" doesn't even stick to just one box size, but yeah, it's whatever will fit in the box. and the size of the box is mainly driven by how much material they think they can budget to make the amount of money they want to make off a kit. Revell is well known/notorious for this. just check out their Star Wars line. what is particularly infuriating to modelers is that sometimes their "box scale" is already so close to a well established scale, one has to wonder why they didn't just follow it, or at least made their arbitrary scale consistent for subjects that are well associated with each other. case in point: 1/112 X-Wing, 1/121 Vader TIE, 1/110 TIE Fighter http://www.revell.de/produkte/star-wars/star-wars-episode-iv-vi.html
  17. thanks. 1/4!? wow indeed. so who's the first girl?
  18. first one caught my eye. no idea who she is though or from what series. Cecilia and Akeno's hosiery looks utterly realistic. is it painted or fabric?
  19. best endorsement ever. can't wait to catch up after over a month of no anime.
  20. quite a bit. what i do in PW is i select single items for shipping and note the costs. i add them all up and later compare with various permutations of combined shipping. savings are typically 1k to 2k yen, roughly 5-20% off, in addition to the already 20% discount on EMS rates.
