  1. unintended. truly.
  2. damn. girls with big guns (or swords). my weakness.
  3. take my money! where do i order?
  4. anyone else checked out Tokyo ESP?
  5. so this is roughly 1:11,000 ? IIRC, the Breetai ship resin kit by Scale Solutions is around that scale. and i also have a Super Star Destroyer close to scale. hmmmm....
  6. thanks for the input guys. i'm not a Getter fan and i only vaguely recall the anime from 3 decades ago, so anime accuracy is not my main consideration. i guess this is just one of those cases of "i have no idea what it is, but it looks so cool i gotta have it" that i'm so prone too. this one in particular caught my eye: checked out the CDX review and found it very informative. thanks for the tip. based on the SRP there, market prices now seem to be at +$150 premium or more. the set being offered seems to be a buy 2 get 1 free deal at SRP so i think i'll go ahead and get it. edit: gah! after a bit more googling i found out there are black versions unsurprisingly, they are more expensive. one costs almost as much the 3-set on offer. as stupid as this sounds, i'm tempted. whoever said gold is the root of all evil probably hadn't run into diecast yet.
  7. i'm unfamiliar with Getter stuff so thought i'd consult here. an acquaintance is offering to sell me his Fewture EX Gokin Getters 1-3, loose but complete with box. checked prices on ebay but they seemed ridiculous. what would be a fair price for this set?
  8. somehow this flew under my radar. all sold out now: fortunately a limited edition version will be released in december: i kinda still want the alternate head in the original release though.
  9. superalloy hello kitty from bandai
  10. just caught up with the manga. not sure i like the shift in focus. no Titans in sight for how many chapters now?
  11. indeed, i was always aware of that possibility but nonetheless didn't think they would actually pull it out of the hat, and certainly not in such a literal fashion. i do like the idea of things coming full circle and i am beside myself with delight at seeing her again. an anime sequel is quite unlikely though given how the anime ending diverged from the manga. i'd love to be wrong about this though and will be happy to forgive any retcon. alternatively, i will also be sated if they just released PVC figures of the other Claymores, Teresa and Galatea in particular.
  12. been watching gag comedies lately. at the moment, Mitsudomoe keeps getting me in stitches. OT, anybody else here keeping up with the Claymore manga? i've recently caught up with it and oh boy, now i've seen everything. those familiar with Claymore are already used to all manner of comebacks and power-ups. even then, developments in the past couple of chapters are likely to surprise:
  13. aaajin, those height extensions shelves are meant to be placed on top. using them as risers is not recommended and probably dangerous. i have a similar setup shown above, a row of BILLY with glass doors, though mine are in white and have additional shelf units on top. well worth it. started using ikea for displays about 7 years ago and thought i'd share my experiences here. initially bought a pair of DETOLFs. they were cheap and i thought they looked cool. but very quickly got turned off by its limitations: non-adjustable shelf height, narrow width, and ultimately too short to maximize use of available wall space. so i started looking at modular/stackable systems that could be built taller and really make full use of wall space. BILLY had some advantages over BESTA: much cheaper shelf frames and glass doors, wider shelves (80cm vs 60cm). but the biggest drawback at that time was that BILLY shelves were only 28cm deep. BESTA on the other hand were 40cm deep, can be stacked taller (up to almost 3m), optional glass shelves, has drawer options, and the 60cm wide glass panes meant longer items (like the SDF-1) can be displayed sideways without visual interruption from door frames. while BILLY had wider shelves, the widest glass panes were only 40cm. i ended up with a combination of mostly BESTA plus a trio of BILLY shelves. then about 3 years ago something wonderful happened: the BILLY line was expanded with 39cm deep shelf units and glass shelf options. BILLY became my prime choice for display cabinets. if they ever came out with 80cm wide glass doors, i'll completely replace all my BESTA cabinets. for now though, BESTA remains complementary to my BILLY units. the new BESTA accessories also keep them relevant. for example, this set of half-depth glass shelves, mirror shelves and mirror backgrounds creates additional display options eg. showing off PVC figures butt cheeks
  14. my first thought bubble was actually "go pink. then black."
  15. toyed with the idea a couple of years ago and got as far as doing a very basic Google Skechup model of the exterior. the various lineart were disagreeing with each other so i ended up taking photos of my 1/3000 SDF and traced over those. i've seen a couple of better 3D models but neither of the owners responded when i inquired about using their files.in any case, i wasn't really going for a super detailed 3D model since i just needed the basic shapes and surfaces, "unfold" it using Pepakura, print it like a papercraft model and use that as template for cutting styrene, then just scribe and add the greeblies/surface detail after. i settled on 1/144 since since at 1/350 the humans on the bridge would be unrecognizable and there were no 1/350 valks and destroids -- until now that is. in 144 scale, the bridge and antennae are something like 50cm tall if memory serves. at 1/60, well... where i got stuck is with the interiors. quite a bit of work to figure out the floor plan of the various levels, and even more challenging to scale it properly since there are no dimensions given in any reference material. i get the nagging feeling that if properly human-scaled the interiors as shown in the lineart probably won't fit in the exterior "shell". anyway, i haven't committed anything to plastic yet and this will likely be a project for my retirement in a few years. in the meantime i want to trial this papercraft-to-plastic approach on a Terran Battlecruiser since there are papercraft models already available. just as soon as i finish my 1:1 scale house model...
  16. MT, jaw-dropping stuff! are Q-Rau in the cards? EXO, any plans for zentran power armor? Tundrayeti, please include a dozen of these to my Monsutārobotto order.
  17. please try very hard. i'm not at wf and want 3 of these. i wonder if there'll be a mk1 version. you know, to put atop a 1/350 carrier...
  18. if you put it that way (ie. touchdown), i see your point. in the subway scene you mentioned, i do distinctly recall myself thinking "oh, no, no, no, you're not going to cut away again, are you?" but i guess i just happen to be a masochist for foreplay lol! so true. loved that.
  19. i actually thought those brief snippets of monster footage (shown through windows, doorways, reflections, TV broadcasts and TVs/monitors s in the background) were pretty nifty. along with planes falling out of nowhere, submarines on trees, and trails of destruction without any monster in-frame, these shots built up the curiosity, suspense, and tension. for me at least, those teaser shots contributed to my sense of awe when the full-on reveal/s finally came. imax probably had a hand in it too, but that's beside the point. true, the monster fight scenes weren't that long, but i thought they were sufficient. they were long enough to show the tide of battle turn at least a couple of times, and a handful of monster attack moves and variations . were they to extend the fight scenes, i have to wonder what they would show. a couple more minutes of monsters shoving/grappling each other wouldn't add much, and i don't want to see piledrivers, clothesline, and leg drop moves as that would be too comical. having said that, i thought there were some scenes which could have benefited from another minute or so of monster footage but all is forgiven because the finishing move was pure awesome
