  1. wanted to buy it, but apparently, winners go to the permanent collection. i've passed along my interest to the artist. hope to commission a smaller one - in gashapon scale liking Sakurako-san thus far. it's a nice, light whodunit show along the same vein as the excellent Hyouka and Gosick. we'll see if it reaches those heights. One Punch Man continues to crack me up, though the last two eps were weaker by comparison. Heavy Object continues to be fun. while it does seem that they've adopted a monster-of-the-week format (or more accurately, monster-every-3-or-4-eps) they're throwing in enough twists to keep things interesting, and the banter is enjoyable. Utawarerumono is a slice-of-life show in a fantasy setting. not much happening, but a relaxing way to pass the time. K: Return of Kings might finally get interesting after the latest ep. it's been all flash but little substance so far. Seri Awashima is probably why i even bother. hope they make a PVC of her. of the "twin" shows Gakusen Toshi Asterisk and Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry, the latter is proving more interesting as there is more of a rock-paper-scissors "logic" in the fights as compared to the i'll-powerup-and-overwhelm-everything which the former sometimes reverts to. i thought Taimadou Gakuen 35 would be a gritty squad story (or at least head in that direction) given some of the gore elements in the first episodes. now it seems like it will be about resolving the past/issues/mystery of each of the female harem one arc after another. such a waste. only recently started to watch Iron-blooded Orphans. i'm not a Gundam fan, but this show is ticking all the right boxes for me. i like the premise and setting of Owari no Seraph but the pacing is approaching Bleach levels. hopefully it doesn't get to a Naruto crawl. i'll keep watching because i think the fights can be awesome, and the hint of conspiracy is there. Noragami just keeps dishing it out. the first half wrapped up very satisfyingly and was well paced throughout. it doesn't let up with the start of the next half and immediately builds on the mythology with hints of more to come. still a hair ahead of Owarimonogatari as my fave this season, but the reappearance of Shinobu in this next arc will handily change that.
  2. winning entry at a student art contest. reminds me of a certain anime.
  3. of course it's the DB5 at #1. but my personal fave is the Volante. still sore that a 1/18 of that was never produced while stuff like Halle Berry's Ford Thunderbird got licensed.
  4. i second that that would be glorious. add Faye Valentine to that wishlist. i've been wanting one for years, but all releases thus far were crap except maybe for the Yamato one, but still far from wow.
  5. Nakano Broadway?

i am probably alone in being excited about the 1/700 stuff.
  10. do the 5 VFs on each side combine and then duke it out mano-a-mano?
  11. ooh, i like that striped mecha with mesh armor
  12. Star Destroyers are so puny, heh.
  13. i've gone through that ordeal a handful of times hence i'm now very diligent about specifying non-EMS whenever possible. HLJ can do SAL for nearly everything and it arrives in 2 weeks, rarely more than 3, sometimes less than 2. At my local PO, i send an SMS of the parcel numbers i intend to pick up and it's at the counter when i get there. not bad considering EMS takes over a week anyway. (oh, it does arrive in the country within 3 days, but by the time those EMS guys get off their butts to send the delivery notice, it's already a week).
  14. 5 hours? sounds familiar. is this the PO near the airport?
  15. glad some folks here are picking up Yamada kun, it has one of those synopses that insta-tunes-out a lot of folks who have their anti-ecchi/harem/romcom sensors on. now onto this season: Owarimonogatari - fantastic! naturally. i'm still pining for Shinobu though. thankfully, i got my Senjo-fix with her cameo and that (literally) killer line. Noragami Aragoto - risking accusations of heresy, i will have to say this show is stealing not inconsiderable thunder from Owari. i think the first season mostly flew under the radar when it was airing, but checking back on MAL now it seems to have made it to the 300's rank from quite beyond 1000 previously IIRC. this 2nd season, the show has taken a much darker turn, albeit still occasionally punctuated by its characteristic goofball humor. for the uninitiated who want to check this out, i would really recommend seeing season 1 first as the 2nd builds on it heavily. it's a show about gods among us, brought into existence through the wishes and dreams of humanity, given form, and named. i like how the show plays on the importance of names and remembrance. pretty similar concepts to the Sandman comics. Gakusen Toshi Asterisk and Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry - indeed they have a lot of similarities (battle school/competition format, likely OP protagonist with tsundere partner, etc.) but they are nuanced differently: the former is more mystery/conspiracy focused while the latter seems to be a vindication/validation story. RKNC strikes me as more promising story-wise (discounting the heavier ecchi elements) with it's Gattaca-like premise, but gee, Asterisk's animation is beautiful. Taimadou Gakuen 35 - this can probably be lumped with the two above, but differs because it's a squad story rather a pair's. minor diff, i know, but i i find the dynamic entertaining. i'm hoping the conspiracy angle pays off and not fall flat like in Machine-doll One Punch Man - hilarious! looking forward to every episode. Heavy Object - first arc was great. i hope the latest episode is not an indication that they will be lapsing into a monster-of-the-week formula. i'm enjoying the buddy vibe which is quite refreshing. given the abundance of harem animes, when was the last time you saw a show where two guys shared the limelight? i hope some models come out of this show. a 1/144 Baby Magnum would be great, but i'll be happy with 1/350. (1/700 would make for some nifty dioramas though) oh, and before i forget: Valkyrie Drive Mermaid FTW!
  16. i'm in the market for a 75-80". have any of you tried gaming on a curved screen? i'm curious if it actually has any immersion benefit.
  17. thanks guys! much appreciated. google mapping now.
  18. guys, i'd be very interested in which shops you visited in akihabara, if you don't mind. i'll be there in a couple of weeks. last time i was there two years ago, i felt i missed a good number of shops that weren't on street level. thanks
  19. Prison School is so unapologetically sick that it's awesome
  20. wow! is there a widescreen wallpaper version of that?
  21. thanks kanedaestes and scyla. much obliged.
