    Hi-Metal R

still up at amiami. just placed 2. hell froze over
  2. they could take that further: - a "mechanics" version in clear/translucent (eg. VF-25 1/72 pro hobby version) - a "fold" version in translucent rainbow (eg. VF-25 fold version) i'm a sucker for those things, so i'm potentially looking at 6 x 4 =24 SV-262 purchases
  3. maybe the trim only shows/glows when, um, excited? would be interesting to see that in the toys. i don't know which gundam series, but i see some models being sold that have an alternate mode where the "power lines" show up. perhaps it's something along those lines.
  4. sure buy: 03 - sucker for radomes 02 04 depends if i like the character: 05 01
  5. i guess the "blocking" of the valks in that picture is likely representative of the screen time of the pilots, with Hayate#5 and Messer#2. hope i'm wrong as i'd like to see much more of Mirage
  6. JB0 beat me to it, but yeah, that would be a political nightmare. i think the term is "racial quarantine", a discriminatory concept that has popped up several times in mankind's checkered history.
  7. Mikumo is Grace v2.0 atoning for her/their past misdeeds ... or doing field tests for another mind control/manipulation scheme
  8. finally saw it. looks like fun. i'm in! my pre-2008 self probably wouldn't have thought the same way. at the time, my anime diet was strictly "serious mecha" or "mature" themes like GitS. slim pickings, really. i recall i initially had trouble with the school setting of Frontier. since then, i have gone on to enjoy other "school" animes and embrace a much wider range of genres. magical girls? i avoided Sailor Moon like the plague when i was a kid, only to be exposed to maho shojo as an adult via the unexpectedly hilarious and absurdly weird Kore wa Zombie desu ka? so, other than the hologram dancers in Delta which caught me by surprise, i was already "well-adjusted" to whatever Delta had to offer. rather than hope (or dread) for what Delta could be, i'll just take it as it comes. i'm keen to be surprised and entertained. or if i find it crap, then i'll call it crap. magical girls understandably have drawn a lot of the discussion. but what i noted from Delta are: - it's not in a school setting (although not yet guaranteed) - outport planet/s - only Freya and Reina are so far confirmed to be under 18, and the rest of the cast seem to be young adults at the least - Mikumo of unknown origins - "civil war" ie. human(oid) vs human(oid) combat rather than vs an outright alien threat - marriage politics? make of that what you will. the magical girls may just be a red herring.
  9. great work! just out of curiosity, does the VF fit inside the hangar? hard to see from the photos due to perspective.
  10. any news on scale?
  11. happened to watch Sicario last week. powerful stuff. then i watched Blackhat then Kimiko
  12. what if it has a quadruped mode? that'll be different for sure.
  13. thanks. that makes sense. honestly, i thought simple trimming would not require a re-encode. i figured the unwanted parts at the start/end would just be lopped off and the file's internal "partition table" updated. so i was surprised when all cores fired up to do heavy lifting. at first i attributed the re-encoding to the format change to wmv, but now i figure it'll likely be the same even if saving to original format.
  14. tried to use windows movie maker to edit videos stored on my NAS. it says i have to download it first to my local computer. anyone know of any video editors that can directly work on files in network shares? i plan to do just simple trimming but across a lot of videos i'd rather not download to my laptop then re-upload again post edit. thanks
  15. that's what i wanted, but haven't found a local supplier/importer of smart glass.
  16. she's big enough to display on her own, say, the dining table? my scale discipline is also being challenged. i try to stay 1/6 to 1/8, but recently i'm being tempted to go bigger on one end, and towards smaller non-scale offerings on the other. in another case of impulse buy, i got this when it went on clearance: not realizing how big it was at the time, but at least now i have an excuse to get big Yoko i'm toying with the idea of a custom cabinet for my risque stuff. the glass will have one-way film like you find on car windows. it's supposed to look like a mirror dresser until the lights inside are turned on. you guys think it'll work?
  17. won a PS4 at our office raffle last night. so i went to mall this afternoon to grab some games. i was a bit disappointed that i gravitated more towards remastered/PS3 to PS4 ports. few of the current lineup of PS4 games caught my fancy and so ended up picking Metro and Uncharted collections. guess folks like me who don't do MMOs and prefer to be offline are being left behind. i haven't been keeping up with the news so i was mistakenly excited that i could pick up a new Tombraider, Tekken, Uncharted, Ace Combat, Force Unleashed, BioShock, etc.. seems i wasn't too late to the party after all.
  18. i have several sets of the Chara-Works, and while i love them to bits, honestly, they don't hold a candle to the Gimix line. see those little markings on the F4 posted above? one can take a magnifying class to them and read. if we're lucky, we might even get lighting and propulsion sets: previous Gimix entries like the Osprey have movable parts, so movable limbs for gerwalk and battroid is very likely. what's so amazing about the Gimix line is how comprehensive it is. i've already pre-ordered these: edit: please, please, someone make the VF-25 in 1/144!
  19. while i'm beyond excited that this is finally coming to fruition and not vaporware, i'm torn about the timing. my plan was, finish watching owarimonogatari, then the second cour of the final season, then kizu to bring everything full circle, then start rewatching in chronological order ending with hana, then after that maybe they've also adapted the side stories and i'll just casually watch that basking in the afterglow. weird huh? then again, it's probably because i've spoiled myself by reading kizu and ougi dark. all i can say is, both are awesome. given that, the chances of me holding out on watching kizu until later is nil.
  20. get these. one of the normal drives in my NAS gave up a little under 2 years. the workload must've been too punishing as it was running 24/7 the RED replacement is still going after 3 years.
  21. the 17% BF additional discount amounted to over $200 on a big cart with many small items, the Hase VF-25 and Episode Archives book being the only Macross related items. decent sale.
  22. you probably meant Olympus, not Pentax. loved my E-PL1 to bits, then moved to Nikon only to go back to Olympus in less than 2 years. me, my shoulders and back are happy to be home with Olympus.
