I would have to concur with that. Yamato never had a feature like this in mind when they designed the version 2 I'm sure so the scale has to be a bit "flubbed". I'm not too anal about having things exactly to scale though. I'd definitely buy these if they were easily available even at the $30+ price tag.

I was referring more so to the kanji that precedes the model description which is more about the toy category than model itself. Although if I'm not mistaken the one following it is more spec than type but I'm sure I'm missing some nuance.

It says it's the container for komiria. I believe that's how she's carried around in the TV series at least once.
-
I thought they were all supposed to be in scale now? At least within the same series line. That was one of the areas of improvement they listed over the old MSIA/EMSIA/Offshoot series.
-
Well the katakana there reads "ro-bizubiritei-" phonetically. Which I'd wager is supposed to be low visibility. The Kanji in the header seems to be superfluous to the actual model type.

Don't give Yamato any ideas for a "battle damaged" line

I was being facetious but thanks

School Girl Valks? You don't say? I suppose the Macross equivalent of the US Air Force's Thunderbirds or the US Navy's Blue Angels would be staffed by a lot of prepubescent females... Also note some of the "hero" fastpack bundled 1/48s have gone severely discounted as well but since they're prebundled they're still at least $50 or $60 more than the naked AB.

Ever seen a red and black R32, 240SX etc? Same deal still looks really good either way. The question is with so little difference why buy both? If Yamato had a whole M7 line up I definitely wouldn't put it past them. Considering much like McFarlane's Halo line the majority of their products are just repaints and their target consumers thank them for it

Well assuming MrMarch's images are accurate just go on his site and compare them for yourself. http://www.new-un-spacy.com/m3.html

That's not entirely true is it? The Strikepack is DYRL and the tiny pilot figure is too right? I mean it's splitting hairs but yeah...

It seems like with the 1/48s going out and with the sagging economy it's become more frequent. I don't recall the 1/60s or 1/72s being discounted but maybe I'm wrong. For sure the 1/48 Angel Birds is the deepest discounted and the best deal I've seen go on for Macross. I wasn't even going to buy any 1/48s because of their size but at the price I couldn't resist. I suppose HLJ still made decent money off of me as I bought the fast packs and armor for it at full price The standard defender markdown was also a deal I couldn't resist. It went off sale real quick though even without the whole stock going out. It might be an instance where HLJ does sales just to free up warehouse space for newer product? It is in Japan after all and there isn't exactly an abundance of storage space over there. Although it does make me curious of how much mark up is on these things since apparently they can afford 30-60% mark downs and stay in business.
-
Yeah, the weight surprised me as well coming from my experience with the old 1/60s. It's a real beauty IMO. I bought my Angel Bird the first time it went on sale a while back. Unfortunately back then the fastpacks and armor weren't on sale like they were recently. Only problem I had with mine is/was the floppy air break(?) which I fixed. Someone somewhere else online claimed the Angel Birds yellow really badly but mine has had no problems with this. The only thing I can suggest to be careful with other than the backpack area is the hip area. I stressed one of the peg like protrusions a little in the fuselage recess area that holds the hip bar on mine.

I will be buying these as they will replace my now under performing version 1s which I already packed away in anticipation.

The canopy is made of darkening transparisteel

Oh hey promethuem5, you post on INVINCIBLE BBS also right? I actually liked the AGs the best for their diorama/play value especially because of the in scale support vehicles. The biggest bummer is that I jumped in to the line a little late so I missed a lot of the sets. As cool as the Next series was feature wise maybe the cost was a bit too prohibitive and that's what's led to this (well besides the shitty economy). Guess I'll just never manage to collect all the data cards I managed to score the binder for

Any news on any possible new Mega House releases? CM seems to be doing a lot more different unit types like Houquet's but I really dislike the way they look especially the faces

Fabulous! HLJ ships something else for me to today but neglects to ship my preorder VF-22 I can only hope somehow it saves me on shipping costs.

Sorry for quasi necro but does anyone know for sure if the Takara/Tomy Votoms AG line has been canceled? The official site is still up but there have been no new releases and I haven't even seen or found the AG-N 04 Scopedog Merukia colour anywhere which was supposedly released when the AG-N 03 was (which I have).

Ah but you see the point is that the VF-25Gs sniper rifle is the most similar weapon system on a fighter in MAF to what MAs and TMSs use in the battle series. The control scheme and it's implementation has not improved so much from Gundam Battle to MAF so much as the oodles of seeking missiles have enabled you to engage targets you are not leading and/or following. Not to say that missile spamming is not a Macross concept because it obviously is but for me it does not mask the fact the controls still leave something to be desired. On a positive note I look forward to more BOMBER! maybe some more Plus vocals as well. I wonder what the chances of getting "Get Free" with vocals are?

Nice that's like a little over $36 but it does make your earlier shipment suspect considering it took twice as long for the same shipping method I assume. How's the stand? Thanks for the info btw guys. Totally forgot about the forearm missiles on the DYRL style and totally didn't know the TV ones lacked the cannon or that triangle bit. -
Well try using the VF-25G and only use the sniper rifle in fighter mode and see how well that works for you Like I posted the substantial improvement you experience in Fighter mode in comparison to Battles MAs and TMSs is indicative of the weapon selection more than anything else. Since everyone else seems to be discussing their preferred modes.. I'd have to say unless it's primarily an airborne mission I spend more time in gerwalk and/or battroid. Even then gerwalk is definitely the most flexible unless you're in the 21 and then just activate your shield a pew pew everything in battroid.

My shipment arrived! Pleasantly surprised by the colour of the Defender in person and a little disappointed that the CMS Max doesn't fit too well in the Queadluun-Rau. Everything came packed in a pretty big HLJ box with plenty of plastic bubble packing bits. I actually found a picture of my August 08 shipping box. Surprisingly it was sent in a Bandai plamo collection case whch I didn't remember until I stumbled back onto this picture. Also maybe not the best place to ask but what's the difference between the different strike/fast pack stand alone sets? Just the colour(s)?
