The All Things Video Games Thread!
bluemax151 replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Isn't it more than that? Something like Sega CD>Saturn>PS1>GBA>PSP? I haven't gotten the I haven't gotten the PSP version yet but I will be. EDIT: Picked up the Premium edition of Lunar at Fry's for $35. It'll be a while before I actually play it though. -
Working Design did a really great job on all their releases including Lunar. It may have been a very traditional RPG gameplay wise but Lunar had some less traditional elements that made it pretty different at the time. I actually really liked the the fact it had an epilogue, something not really any other game had before or has had since. Personally I find it frustrating when a game chooses my party for me but I enjoy having distinct classes in my RPGs and to another extent for an FF title to have the class system. FF9 is pretty to similar FF2/4 in the respect everyone is a class/has it's own unique abilities and even beyond that the PC is a thief instead of the usual warrior or warrior hybrid most of the other titles have. Really even in 3/6 the characters have their own useful abilities even if the magic system is basically the same for everyone. It's still better than FF7 where everyone is the same with a new character model excluding the limit breaks which you don't need to use anyway. Generally I prefer to play the titles on their console of origin but the remakes are great not only for some of the improvements but also because they've made the original carts more affordable since demand is down and they've also let people more easily experience these installments for the first time (legally).

lol now I know you're just trolling If you're going to talk FF and what should be played/experienced then you have to be talking about 2/4 and 3/6 if you're not a graphics whore. Personally I prefer FF9 but 2/4&3/6 really have "something for everyone" generally. I could go on forever about ff shiz but I won't because it's all been said a million times.

Well you failed to mention they specifically state it in the interview on the extras disc One of the other books (evolutions?) discusses general use power armour and specifically states it never really moved far beyond initial development due to power requirements. Essentially power tethers were necessary and obviously this isn't very desirable in a combat environment. They also gloss over how Spartan armour is derived from early power armour designs as well.
-
Prototype really reminded me of the Full Armor Gundam. If you watch the commentary disc I believe they specifically sate that Murakami(?) who worked in this episode was involved with Itano Circus and so this is Murakami circus. I was pretty unimpressed with shorts overall. I liked the Cortana intro and the package at least the story/concept was interesting even if I didn't like the animation style. Anyone one else reminded of the Dendrobium when they brought out those booster frames?

That's the difference between just a Scopedog Turbo Custom and the Red Shoulder/Imitation Red Shoulder. Glad you're happy and I totally understand what you mean by "too posable". Yamato's dog is kind of overwhelming even when you only have the original loose release. I really wish they could have released some of the other units like the Purple Bear.

Oh that's easy just check out Mark Simmon's Gundam Unofficial article about MS generators! You might have even seen his name in the Gundam Unicorn credits. http://www.ultimatemark.com/gundam/power.html

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.6

To be honest a wooden tooth pick chipped some of the paint on my Milia 22 gear. In Yamato's defense it wasn't so much the paint sucked as a combination of that and the gear being really stuck but seriously a tooth pick isn't all that sturdy or abrasive. -
Doubtful since Tomino doesn't have creative rights? I think in a way Unicorn is kind of a nod to Gaia Gear, whether it was intentional or not.

and this is exactly why I use tweezers and tissue/cotton to deploy landing gears! It's pretty much a non issue because I rarely if ever use landing gears on any of my Yamato's but it's a solid complaint. -
Nah we got "Superior Defender!" WHICH WAS SO MUCH BETTER When comparing quality of Gundam you really kind of have to separate the LA, the kids shows and the standard series because it's like comparing apples and oranges or wuteva.

"Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence." There's way too many variables to be easily accounted for. Fact of the matter though is the pins that have "knurlining" have raised portions of the surface that put additional pressure on what is obviously thin pieces of plastic. If someone wants to do a double blind study on yamato exploding shoulders and prove their fragility to be baseless rumor I'm all for that but I'd rather be safe than sorry in the mean time.
-
I can level that complaint across the entirety of anime basically so that's pretty bad I'm personally still patiently awaiting a Sheryl PVC that tickles my fancy. Although if they do make one I'm not sure where I'd put it.

For the record I got the Roy VF-1S Strike at release and it was fine when I got it but when I checked it about a year ago after it had been sitting in the box both shoulders had huge cracks. I'd highly recommend removing them and checking them out because in retrospect I wish I would have with my Roy. Pushing the pins can be kind of hard because of the size of all the components but I didn't wreck mine and they were already cracked. Total destruction from the force seems unlikely.

Tomino had said in one of his interviews that EVERYONE is born as a "newtype" somehow people in UC lose this status as they age. I think he inferred it's conventional life experience that caused it. He's also quoted as trying to get some distance from the newtype phenomenon as it side tracks the shows. While overpopulation is definitely given as a reason you have to remember the earthbound elite have pushed a lot of this initial waves of immigrants into space out of their own selfishness. Zeta has the ultimate embodiment of this Earth born supremacist faction in the Titans (even though not everyone in the Titans was there for this political reason). As for the capacity of colonies, it doesn't really matter as the UC is constantly plagued by mass genocide. Whole colonies are totally vacant at times.

Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002
bluemax151 replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I hate to be the voice of dissent but I have the original FAGundam which is about as old as you can go in the FIX line and it's still fine. Admittedly it can be claimed it has all the articulation of a brick but it's held up fine. No problems from my Blue Destiny or Efreet but they're newer obviously. I've also seen people post that pvc turns into goo after a while. Well I have a JPN MSIA ver1 RX-78-2 Gundam and it's no pile of goo and/or even sticky. Now obviously PVC isn't the most durable material but a dab of super glue or clear nail polish on joints easily tightens them up. It may take longer for other materials to wear down but they'll get there eventually too. Now if you want to complain about the bent/warped V fins and beam sabers then yes that's a serious problem.- 6025 replies

Robot Tamashii (Damashi, Spirit) Side MS complete list?

There's also the official Tamashii JPN site. http://www.tamashii.jp/ -
It's better you have her anyway. She comes with extra better parts for the Chirico if you ever get your hands on one. I got the series 1 (SMAT) set of weapons when they were on sale at HLJ before and I'd consider the second set since it's on sale but I have the original dog and it's a floppy mess that can barely hold anything. Sooo a bazooka is kind of out of the question

Well it doesn't really matter because it's an alternate retelling of the story. We're not talking GAIA GEAR or G-Saviour here. Just look at the MSG trilogy, they totally removed whole units like the G-Armor for instance and they're not considered "unofficial" now.

That just remind me how terrible the ver2 1/60 pilots are. The Milia that comes with the 22 is a massively better sculpt, heck the heads on the old 1/60 pilots are even kind of better although of course they have nothing below the waist.

Zeta tv is still "official". There's an interview somewhere and Tomino basically says his wife has never liked Zeta and some of the Movie treatment was done to appease her. Soooo basically the movie version was how he would have done it if he hadn't been so depressed and misogynistic at that time.... The Gundam movies for the most part kind of enjoy the same relevance to their tv series counterparts that DYRL does.
