  1. Can't wait for the Tamashii exclusive landings gears! Also when is the Fire being re released with the new missile legs? They were shown in at least one episode. Otherwise love that it's an option but I'll wait for the Yamato. Besides I already have the old Bandai so I can afford to wait.
  2. Yeah, the ones from 0080. I eventually got a Rick Dom II later as well. Of course now new HGs are like older MG quality so I'm sure I'd be more impressed by current releases. Still loved most the basic look/feel of the designs though.
  3. I want to say both the old 1/144 GM Command kits from 1994(?), my memory is a little fuzzy and I've since got rid of every model exlcuding my MG Ez8 and GM custom. The command kits were pretty terrible even at the time IMO but it's not like there was a huge selection at my local hobby shops to choose from anyway. What I am sure of is that I really loved the utilitarian features of the general designs.
  4. I appreciate that you not only reinforced the underlying theme of my post but also readily dismissed the whole medium of anime as the equivalent of vapid reality programming. The GM Sniper II is also the best unit in DC's Gundam Rise From the Ashes side story and to a lesser degree it's plays a fairly prominent role in both LWC's videogame and manga iterations. I managed to sit through both the dub and sub of Beck fairly recently and while over all they are both fairly good representations of the original, they both fail on pretty much the same points due to what I assume are copy right/intellectual property issues. BTW anyone ever sit through the Initial D dub? I've heard quite a few people speak ill of it but in all fairness the english language and mannerisms used for the dub are accurate to "ricer head' culture.
  5. Got a really great deal recently on the Aina in ball gown. I think it's the nicest fixed pose statue in my collection now.
  6. Regardless of your Japanese language proficiency or the subtitles quality/accuracy when you are not both ethnically Japanese and born and raised within the confines of said country Anime is not only not intended/marketed to you but there is no way you could even possibly hope to understand the intricacies of the medium. Might as well just give up wapanese pasttimes like watching Japanime and go ahead with normal 鬼畜米兵 hobbies.
  7. I do love Right Stuf. They're the only company I'll order Anime from online. FALL 2010
  8. Finally ran across some of my assembled Zoids. Here's my Liger Zero with the Schneider parts on. I've got a poo ton more somewhere including the other armour parts. I'd really like to get the Naomi Fluegel Gun Sniper model kit but I already have way too much stuff
  9. For me it's not so much the price although for NA that's recockulous but the size. I'm tired of buying individual volumes and having them take up all my shelf space. I learned my lesson a long time ago and I've replaced almost all my old sets with the new thin/slim/think packs, complete collections or anime legends. I don't know why the Japanese allow themselves to get gouged like they do on media. Even back when a dollar was 150 yen I wouldn't have paid their prices and I didn't. Even now that Anime flounders in NA they don't really seem to undertstand they don't have a successful business model on their hands. Given it's a Blu-ray release not DVD but I don't/won't pay even $25 for LA movies I really like.
  10. A couple different companies (none of them were HT) were slated to release high end 1/6th scale Master Chiefs but they all dropped the ball. I wouldn't buy one personally but I'm sure there's a market for something like that. Halo is Microsoft's equivalent of the DS, it's a license to print money after all. I'd like to see some RE Darkside Chronicles HTs. They've even released RE1-3 on PSN so there's some opportunity there to jump on some nostalgia.
  11. I have an unopened Silken Floss I new from the start they'd probably do the Black Widow and I'm planning to buy that one to open. When I finally get my Ghotsbuster's Bill Murray I'm going to set up some spectatular 1/6 scale Lost In Translation figures...
  12. I might be more interested if it was a comic version Warmachine (not Ultimate). How do the armoured figures even feel? They're all plastic right? I have my doubts about how they hold up along with the rubber suit figures. Honestly after my experience with the RE1 Wesker figure which don't get me wrong is the probably the best Wesker figure ever going to be made HT stuff seems like too much hype and not enough delivery, head sculpts excluding of course.
  13. Vic's personality and work ethics aside I doubt any of the titles working design released stateside would have been brought over here any other way (It didn't used to be even half as easy as it is now to get imports). So I'm at least thankful for that regardless of perceived quality. Isn't Vic still in the industry now? Worked on the new Blaster Master or something? All this talk reminded me to edit the final duel video I took for vanguard bandits a while ago. I made a save right before the final blow years ago but now I have a dazzle so I can do something with it actually.
  14. Played around with my Hot Toys RE1/Biohazard Albert Wesker today. Have to say the face sculpt is beyond excellent but otherwise not sure how to justify this as a $155 1/6 scale action figure. The accessories aren't really any better quality than the good releases by Ultimate Soldier or GI Joe about 10 years ago. Only took one quick pic for now *Magnum not included*
  15. No worries I've played through Vanguard Bandits both ways and found the experience very rewarding. The game is pretty unforgiving though and even by PS1 standards the UI is archaic so it takes a lot of patience that honestly I'm not sure I even have for it anymore. At the time the actual attack animations blew me away and somewhat killed the tedium of moving little pieces on a grid but that's pretty much standard fare these days.
  16. Opened up and played with my Destroy mode Unicorn a bit today. A lot less bland than the standard version but some of the extra bits tend to get in the way. Also as expected the PVC V-fin came slightly bent/warped but not as bad as my Unicorn mode's PVC horn. All the accessories help round out the figure and really the Unicorn mode could have benefited from at least some of the small ones (like the extra epacs).
  17. I think you've completely misinterpreted my post. I actually really liked the work Working Design did and it's a pity they are gone because they brought together are really great product and generally worked closely with the original team. In fact they worked in partnership to bring dual shock support to Lunar which was/is great. Fact remains though a lot of the dialogue (superfluous or not) they changed and generally made more light hearted or more "western". Some people don't like that, me I don't really care. I have quite a few of WD's releases and Vanguard bandits might actually be my favourite even above the Lunars.
  18. Well I'm comparing the JPN Saturn version with the English PS1 version.. I had heard the PSP has some bad load times/mechanics but I play everything from my memory card anyway so it might improve that aspect a bit. I know Jeanne D'arc and the Gundam Battle games for instance really benefit from not having to read the UMD. The story from SegaCD to Saturn is basically the same with more facets added. If anything the US versions deviate a lot in the fact they were made more humorous in the translations among other things. If you're going to direct hate on anything in the series it should be like every US release I guess.
  19. From my more recent playtime I've come to the conclusion that every aspect of Vanille's character is like nails on a chalk board to me. She's like this games Yuffie/Selphie/etc. I also still don't feel like I'm even playing this game.
  20. Sanposuru Gakuen? I haven't played my PSP copy yet (the art is definitely better from what I've seen though) but I'd definitely have to disagree about the SegaCD version being the best release. It and the Saturn version(s) are extremely archaic and almost if not completely unplayable. They only version worse is probably the GBA release. I'm not exactly sure why you don't consider the PS1 version a remake? It's substantially different in just about every aspect. For the record I have a Japanese Saturn so I understand the mpeg cart existed but don't really think that release was all that noteworthy.
  21. Picked up the PS3 version of FF13 for $53 and the collector's guide for $25 at Fry's. No line and no rush but I did run into two stereotypical 50+ nerdy basement dwellers picking it up too. Can't wait to be there in a few years Pretty much my experience today as well. I'll play a little more tomorrow and see how that goes. I have to pretty much agree with Keith's assessment, although I'd rather Final Fantasy mainly stick with the more traditional turn based system. There's plenty of games out there that have been doing and still do real time battles within an RPG framework already and do it well. I'd also like to throw out the idea that the game is pretty stripped down and uncomplicated. Probably even worse than FF7 that is usually criticized for such things. I imagine there's no JPN audio on the US release for the obvious reason of the JPN release being a $100 at launch. I'm sure it wouldn't sit too well if we got basically the same release $40 cheaper over her in NA.
  22. You're exactly right. They're to improve the rigidity of the floppy mess dogs. The feet parts keep my ver1 toes from folding over and the whole thing toppling down. The shoulder parts don't really help at all IMO.
  23. From a community that openly embraces fansubs do you really expect any different? No time to ride high horses now
  24. I've been keeping an eye on that 1/48 Gundam. Pretty cool concept but the detailing is pretty bland, or course I guess that's to be expected at that price point. It would probably look great next to Yamato's Scopedog.
  25. I actually prefer X-2 over X for the dress sphere system. It's a lot like the class system and I've always liked that. Otherwise though they are about equally uninspiring IMO. Great game, only really annoying bit is that you have to use the various attacks to build them up. I'll be sticking with my disc version though.
