  1. I just got my M&M pack today from HLJ holidays sales. I gotta be very careful when open them up. There is a note in the box basically indicating wear might occur during transformation on the white color reflector hump behind the head in battroid mode.
  2. I bought the chogokin Mazinger back in 2000, it's definitely a nice toy with all the details and diecast part they put on the legs. The weigth justifies the value with its design. However, all these figures barely have transformation gimmick like the macross valkyries. Another fact is did Bandai ever gives a damn about Macross all these years? Holding the restroom for almost 30 years but did not come out with a poo about macross. Not even PG get treated on Macross valkyries, I am disappointed with Bandai on macross line. Agreed, yamato could have done better on the shoulders, but I do take credit for what they have done for Macross fans on valkyries toys, but fart off on exclusive and the $2000 SDF-1.
  3. There is nothing wrong with plastic. Just because a toy has less metal part, it doesn't mean it's a bad toy. I bet you barely handle with injection plastic kit. Yamato valkrie is more like an assembled plastic kit with lots of details like a plastic kit has. It's not a typical toy. They can have metal hinge on the shoulder, what you get in return is paint chipping. When I think about diecast metal, I can't avoid to think paint chipping off, discoloration, uneven seam. These 3 factors can easily translate to plastic as an solution. Or They can care less about articulation and design, to put in more traditional metal part, then you will have discoloration and chipped off paint. There is no ultimate rules of thumb to judge a toy is a good toy when it has more diecast metal, it's a matter of balance between design and durability.
  4. you should have bought the bundle, since the bundle comes with VF-1J. Currently the gbp-1s doesn't come in standalone box.

    Question re: HLJ

which yamato valkyrie are you talking about? Did you put in the pilot? IF you do, did you put in correctly? Do you have picture of it?
  6. Agreed, the visible and uneven seam line is really one big drawback, and there is no way to have swivel point at hip. The elbow is not double joints. Too early to make any assumptions at this stage, we shall wait and see how the painted prototype turns out.
  7. The raised tail fins is a result of lacking double joints hinge where the backpack was jointed with the back plate. Yamato actually thought about that to make it proportionate to lineart so to speak by having double joints so it sits flushed with the back.
  8. Bandai. They finally care about doing the vf-1 after holding the licensce for almost 30 years of doing nothing? I am not impressed with the scuplt and craftmanshiop they have in this prototype, come on it's Bandai. I assume it's in 1/100 scale if this is from bandai hi-metal line.
  9. It never says it is hi-metal figures, neither does yamato. And in fact, yamato did a good job and right move with their new 1/60 line by using all plastics to ensure pefect aligned fitment and color matching with the exception of some metals in certain critical area as reinfocement. Their first 1/60 was horrible with the combination of metal parts in legs. You should stay with 1/55 to get the chunky weight lift hand feel...
  10. From the appearance and construction, it's definitely a toy, but I don't like the uneven seam line on the leg like V1 1/60 and 1/48 have.
  11. fan race is already in 1/60 scale.
  12. so how do I get my hands on one of these? I don't think OD or HLJ is gonna carry them unless we go for private seller?
  13. That's the V2 1/60 with all the slim profile armor, and in fact it's the same figure that I posted above.
  14. Which is why they do limited exclusive run with additional product value in it, fan racer in this case.
  15. I guess nobody will paint the canopy in any solid color. It doesn't make sense at all to have that canopy clear without the rainbow coating like the others do. I know you can paint the canopy frame anycolor you want without scrapping the rainbow coating off because the rainbow coating is undernealth not on top where you will paint the canopy frame. Maybe someone else will tint the canopy in yellow or pink, who knows.
  16. they should primed and paint match the diecast part to whatever plastic color they have in there!!!
  17. Orange red gunpod with gold stripes
  18. I understand this is unpainted version, but it looks too raw to me in the sense that the diecast part is not even primed and painted that match body color. I wonder the landing gears are raw and unpainted too? The canopy has no rainbow effect as well. Anyway, this is still not a final product I guess, this looks like a raw parts assembled prototype.
