Looks like the LAM has a song writer! http://www.davidaldo.com/ Don't know who this guy is but his site says he's writing a song for the Tobey Maguire "Robo Tech" movie due in 2011. Doesn't say when the site was last updated so can't be sure about the credibility. If it's true at least we know the new movie won't have a hyphen in the title

Don't worry guys I'm sure we'll get something by Robotech's 30th Anniversary cause and if not then, definitely the 35th.
-
Oh no! You just gave HG an idea for another product: The Robo-Tech Documentary Soundtrack! We can get a 1st release, a special edition featuring remastered tracks, then a special special edition featuring "lost" tracks, then an anniversary release 2 years after it would be due.
-
Don't feel bad, I'm sure you make much more money then they do. I pointed out to Mckeevie that my job demanded results and I deliver, otherwise I'd be fired. He responded saying I don't know how the business works - kind of his generic answer to everything other than the other response "look, you didn't believe SC would come out but it did and it sold gangbusters". It's like talking to a broken record.

Assuming it is an animation house and not HG, wouldn't they have made a contract to animate the entire project rather than testing out a company and then ordering more animation after liking what they saw? When they say they're "working on more" it sounds like they're making a series and we know that's not true. Regarding LAM and, thus SR, I totally agree with you as the HG Triumvirate was constantly saying WB wanted Robo-Tech to be a tentpole franchise and wanted to capitalize on the genre due to the success of Transformers. However, now they're saying it's "a long process" and we fans just don't know how Hollywood works. McKeevie even gave examples about how some films take over a decade to see release (not the best argument to use when saying LAM isn't in development hell). As I've said before, this sidequel is just something to distract fans from the fact that they messed up the future of Robo-Tech by tying SR to LAM. (By the way I know you're joking, I'm just super sarcastic from dealing with narcotic addicts trying to scam early refills at the pharmacy I work at )

I don't think they have to show a cell every month as they're already showing a "preview" video at the cons. But to not even mention anything online unless you look into the forums is not a good way to build hype though why build hype. The only reason we get updates on the forum is 1) when the negativity level gets too high and 2) so McKeevie can appear "cool". Unfortunately, neither tactic is very successful. I think announcing a working title rather than calling it a "sidequel" for a year would do wonders for the project.
-
Well, popped over to the rt.com site and Mckeevie actually gave an update: "The sidquel is still in production. We like the footage that we have and are working on more. Animation, under any circumstance, is a slow process at best and with sidequel we are doing something a bit experimental. So it takes more time than it normally would but every one at Harmony Gold is very happy with the progress." The part that confuses me is where he says "We like the footage that we have and are working on more." If they didn't like the footage would they have stopped production? Or are they working on more footage because they decided not to use LLA footage after reading negative posts about doing so? That would also explain why it's not close to being completed as indicated by the posts. (Damn, I'm making conclusions about his posts again which got me banned). And there's more: "GOOD! We got some great stuff in the pipeline so keep that wallet ready. What is important to remember is that this time last year we had people saying "nothing is going on..Robotech is dead." Yet: - We had a documentary in production. - We had a animated project in actvie devlopment about to be greenlit. Fast forward to today May 23, 2011. - Documentary is completed and we are working on distribution for it. - Animated project is now in production. Kevin McKeever ROBOTECH.com" That pipeline must be pretty small cause the only thing for sure coming out this year is another battle pod variant. Everything else is tentative. Maybe we'll get something excitingly random like Robo-Tech socks to match our Robo-Tech wallet and wristbands! And if you keep talking about something that's supposed to be coming out but don't actually release it or at least publicize it even slightly on the main page, nothing's going on with Robo-Tech still. It has no retail presence at stores and it's presence online is limited to clearance items or items that have been unavailable for years. In fact, the only items online are those Macross items which aren't allowed to be sold in the US and sellers just lump then into the Robo-tech/Macross category. So yeah, Robo-tech, at least for now, is still dead though maybe next year it'll have a weak heartbeat.
-
Great decision, you'll probably come out nicely from selling them to someone who doesn't know that there's something better to buy out there. I sold my set of VF-1s with the YF-1 (or whatever the hell Tommy calls it) for about $700 but ended up opening my Alphas so I could experience the hand crumbling first hand. So, any news/updates from the Anime Central panel this past weekend?
-
Yeah it looks pretty cool and really reminds me of the old Micro Master sets.
-
I too hope this line continues but I've noticed that Bandai often never finishes their toy lines. The way Bandai picks their releases just seems random and doesn't always coincide with an animated release which I think hurts their lines.

I read what you posted on rt.com Legioss and I'm glad to see that there's still a couple people with common sense that haven't been banned from the site. I can't believe people there still say "HG is doing everything right" and "who cares about updating the site as long as we get new products" when Robo-Tech still isn't a household name, doesn't appear on any retail shelves (yeah I know some Best Buys have leftover DVDs but I'm talking in general), and rarely releases anything for someone to waste their money on. In the end, it doesn't matter though since the HG Triumvirate still think so highly of themselves that they can't be open to other ideas about marketing Robo-Tech. Pretty sad that it's almost June and, despite multiple con appearances, the Triumvirate still can't announce the title of the sidequel or even it's completion date since we all know we're not getting an actual product until next year at the earliest.

The episode they made on how humans explain sex to the zentraedi is so wrong yet so hilarious.

ordered my loot last weekend and got receipt of payment last Tuesday but still no shipping confirmation. Has anyone else experienced this long a delay as I've usually only waited about 3 days?
-
I really don't get why Mav decided to post that Black got banned in addition to removing the post as responding to it just helps fan the negative flames. I would think Mav would just delete the post and maybe send a PM. Still, at least they're giving you another chance to piss them off. After I made McKeevie cry, he warned me about a ban so when I posted supporting some negative fans on Facebook in a diplomatic manner, I got banned without even knowing.
-
Yeah Black, you're going down for that post. I was just thinking about all that talk about Palladium and their releases - I totally agree with Seto that there's no way they'll get 4 books out by year's end when they've been struggling with 1 book for 2 years. Still, what I find interesting is how Kevie's spin on the cancellation of the Robotech trades is due to a struggling market for comic books and print material (rather than the absorption of Wildstorm into DC) but then you see them trying to peddle out Robotech RPGs like they're the in thing. I know there's a market for RPGs but do these books really make HG more money than comic books? I would think HG would be trying to make a deal with a publisher like IDW to get some "highly demanded" reprints on the shelf rather than begging Palladium.
-
Being a recently banned rt.com member, reading this made me decide to check out the site again. It really seems to be more dead than ever after Kevie's behavior though a couple fans are questioning the "new" stills in the Chinese TPB. Guess Kevie's right about not using rt.com to advertise the new sidequel since no one visits the site anymore. Luckily, I'm sure we'll be hearing news soon since the summer con season is right around the corner. I still find it surprising that no one other than Memo has jumped online to talk about the preview shown at cons though. Afterall, someone else out of the 30 attendees must use the internet, right?

YIPPEE SKIPPEE! Oh man, what if my wife gets pregnant before its release? -
That's not true according to Mr. McKeevie who says word of mouth is huge for building hype and augments regular advertising. Want proof? Shadow Chronicles sold gangbusters. Yeah, not the strongest argument.

can anyone tell me how much art is in these magazines and if they're mostly original as i have all the other macross books printed. i'm thinking buying volume 2 on ebay so is $28 shipped a good deal?
-
But the publisher says it's from the new animation so it must be new. Ridiculous...
-
Hope you guys aren't right about their inventory tracking system. I was planning on buying in a couple days after I throw some stuff on eBay but the low stock indicator on the Max VF-22S forced me to order it along with Miria's. We'll see...
-
I don't even remember the Invid War series but I remember the Malcontent Uprisings being a cool idea. Too bad the art was totally horrendous. Still, you gotta give those old indie comic companies props for trying to continue and expand the Robotech storyline. I wish HG would try to do the same but I guess they'd need a brand new batch of employees.
-
Along the lines of rewatching Shadow Chronicles, I'm re-reading The Sentinels comic as a way to test out reading comics on my Kindle. I never realized how many plot holes and inconsistencies were present in the story which is surprising since it was restricted like the "original" series. The art is also worse than I remember.

Wow, that Ultimate Prime is...AMAZING! Still, looks like the articulation is limited but I'm buying it!
