I view it like the valk toys. Same product with a different variation/paintjob! I would like a new product. I also made no mention of "that other" company as I was strictly speaking about Macross. I'll never understand why alot of Macross fans believe they have to hype up Macross and it's staff by comparing it to Robotech and theirs. That's like putting someone else down to make yourself feel better about your own faults. All paint! EX: Over a small, test base, two pilots in a battle for new technology and a childhood love for Myung that stems from their past (from thousands to millions of years ago) . A singing AI named Sharon Apple seems to be mysteriously tied to each of them. As the two pilots clash, it becomes more and more apparent that the superiority that they are trying to claim for their own advantage could destroy them all. Can our heroes discover the secret of the AI before it lays waste to them and possibly the entire world? Call it stretching but to me it's just better looking paint than the last one. Depends on how you word it I guess but it does to me. Since the Protoculture are the ones who created those destructive beings including altering the genetic code of humans, wouldn't that make them the most destructive race in the universe. Seems to me in order to follow the themes set by the Macross franchise the creators of such beings would take the time to show them the way to live instead of "love one another or we'll kill you!".

After seeing it I personally feel disappointed once the animation is wiped away as it's a repeated(almost tiring) concept by Kawamori with extra "magic" this time. Other than new designs I see no originality in this story. Maybe some of you can help me by pointing out what you saw as original from the other Macross series? A question that has bothered me with M0 is it seems ok to fight for love but were not supposed to fight because we're supposed to love everyone. Is this not a paradox that can't be solved? Even after Aeris tells Roy the way to save the world is to love he still fights earnestly in SDF:Macross. It makes me feel that new Macross productions are very preachy but don't offer any real solutions. Well one more: If anger/fear/sadness is a kudon then wasn't Sarah sad and angered when piloting the birdman and therefore a kundon herself? By the birdman destroying the world was it not a kudon as well? It seems very hyprocritical to me that the "protoculture" would pass a judgment of death to all after expecting everyone to love one another. Are they exempt from there own ideals?

I agree. I would also say that it's because they are trying to cater to all fans is the reason for the confusion like the car example. I mean with SDF:Macross it was much easier because it catered to a specific group with two choices.. 9 disc or 3 disc sets. Because long ago the Macross story was incorperated into the RT that simple choice is added to the other choices and so on with the later two sagas. This is why fast food places came up with the #1-8 combo menu.. giving people too much choice only confuses them.

Read the topic ... it says "IN MACROSS", that would be all the series. Spoilers in M0 is a side note.

I thought we were discussing the science vs. magic? It's your thread though.. sorry.

I'm sure it's going to end up on one of the fanbase pages before long so even if people miss the re-airing it will eventually be seen. I personally see no difference between this and trying to buy a car. The same make and model of one year can come in many different colors. With or without: sunroof moonroof alloy wheels cd changer leather interior power windows power steering automatic engine size cruise control and etc.... which even when going to the dealership you are stuck to choose between what they have on the lot unless you preorder the car. If you can't find one you're looking for you have to wander around dealership to dealiship asking if they have the type of car you want. Isn't that just a frustrating? So just about any market out there is confusing it's consumer in some way. I agree it would be nice to have one all inclusive set. When I heard the Remastered RT was coming out I sold my original dvd's only to learn afterward the sound effects were changed and that the audio was subpar in opinions of some fans. I'm still without dvd's because I don't know where to invest my money again.. back into the originals or the new video?

I have done some reading on the subject as well and all though the article I read states that giants can't exist I have a hard time understanding why. That block that is doubled. Although it's volume increases to a larger number than the surface area it is increasing within ratio. That cube that started it all had a volume already greater than it's surface area. Example: my nine inch foot supports 175 pounds of wieght. If I increase it's size by double and it becomes an 18 inch foot it should be able to support 350 pounds just as easily as a nine inch supports 175 pounds. The ratio is staying the same. So in the building of blocks, 1 block changed to 8 to double it's measurements. While the volume went to 8 and it's support surface only by 4 .. that is all that is needed. Where this law comes into place is the crush limit but if the ratios are constant that limit won't be reached. However as long as the ratio's stay the same there should be no effect to the body as a whole. In other words the strength of a titanium rod only a centimeter thick has the same strength ratio as a titanium rod ten feet thick and can support the same weight ratio. I don't think I'm explaining myself too well and I apollogize but if this law was true by the means as being used in this thread then I could not go to a world that was smaller than my enviroment now. Even though in this world my body is proven to substain itself.. "if" I went to a world were humans were 10 times smaller they would rationalize my body should be collasping upon itself when all I did was move from point A to point B?? That just doesn't make since to me. As far as heat and oxygen respiration and what not... again if the ratios stay the exact same they shouldn't be a factor. Given the fact that my body has doubled in size which means it has doubled the amount of heat it produces should mean that it can breathe just fine through the double thickness of skin. The example of a mouse and horse being dropped is apples to oranges IMO. A mouse is structured different than a horse. Since this all comes down to weight ratios a proper example would drop a horse the size of a mouse and a full size horse ten feet and I would bet the smaller horse would be in worse shape because ten feet to horse the size of a mouse would be like 60 feet to a full sized horse. This brings me to my next point. The article also stated that if a human was shrunk to the size of a mouse that the bones would be to thick and therefor to heavy for the human to move. I can't see how this could be true if say you were put in a sizing chamber and every ratio of your body stayed the same, perfect scale, then the body should work just as it did before transformation. Being smaller doesn't mean more agile or faster from a ratio standard. Hikaru and Misa would seem to run as fast as mice to the Zentradi only because of the adapted perceptions the Zentradi have grown accustomed to from their size. Once the ratio becomes equal the Zentradi would seem to run just as fast as mice. To sum up what I believe, the square cube law works great on in-animate materials so engineers can caculate what they need to know. Like my foot example, bone structuring is like engineers placing pillars at certain points with certain articualtions so it can support more than it's crush limit. (Like a bridge) Until one of these scientist's creates a "fit" giant human and shows the world the world that it can't stand I won't believe that it's not possible. (what I mean by fit is not one like a 400 pound man standing on ankles the size of toothpicks) Hope I made some sense.
-
You lost me!!!! So it's thought that this isn't possible because it's human form??? What if The Zent size is the largest ... can a human form not go smaller like a minature pony? It just seems to me that if a bone/joint is five times larger then that bone/joint is 5 times stronger.
-
Just out of curiosity? The Zentradi should collaspe under their own wieght...why? That would mean if I left Earth and stood on another planet that inhabited mouse sized beings I should collapse? I don't understand this?

So that is it's giant eyeball to the right? Thanks for the pic Ewilen!

Anyone know what that thing is that was shown after the animals, directly after the frog? Speculation is birdman's head since it's body shimmered with the same kind of light or was it a crashed VF-0 turining to rock? It kind of looked like VF-1A head on top or did all VF-0's have four mountings? Whatever it is what was happening there?
-
Why would it have chopped it's own head off and betray the order it was given to sing the song of destruction from before and Roy's mate emerge from it? Also the Protodevlin couldn't be controlled and was the main reason the protoculture went extinct right? Falling debris from such heights would be like a falling sheet of paper. If you have ever tried to catch one you'll understand this better. There's no aerodynamics to it so it flops which ever way the air catches the most pertruding side at the time. With the wings back you can go faster but less manuverability. To catch something that will flop around like that you need that more than speed IMO. Anyone else reminded of SDF:Macross as Sara fell from the flying rock! Tribute or is Hikaru imitation at best!

Harmony Gold & Toynami releasing DYRL? Toys
Backstabber replied to Duke Togo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Mostly because it's filled with wild fantasies and personal speculation. I have read ten pages and all I have learned from the fanbase is this sux and HG blows. I guess thats all part of the fun though but I prefer to do as some suggested and sit back and wait to see what comes of this. Edit: had to add the quote so people would know what I was referring to.. posts going up so fast. -
Macross nintendo game used.....
Backstabber replied to Backstabber's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
No those weren't on it's menu. I saw the menu and played a couple so the 76 games were there. Dig dug and Donkey Kong jr. were some others but.... oh well, When I go there again I'll look at the box or ask the sales guy if nintendo licensed it all. -

Thanks! Since they have been out for some time now why haven't they been stopped then? This isn't the net they are being sold on or China but in gaming stores at the local malls. -
Macross nintendo game used.....
Backstabber replied to Backstabber's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, and also illegal. As if those 50-in-1 game peripherals are legal... I'm sure they are legal.... All the games were from Nintendo and the main controller is shaped like the N64 controller and the second was like the SNES controller. Light gun was smaller of couse. They're all NES games so why wouldn't Nintendo license them out... new revenue on old product. -

Backstabber replied to Backstabber's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well I wasn't mentioning it because of the gaming controllers, I knew long ago about those too but because Macross was one of the selected games. -
This may be old to some but I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I was at the mall today and there was a stand for those Nintendo controllers and light gun that just use AV jacks. The games are set up in the controller so all you do is plug and play with 76 games. Among Duck Hunt, Mario bros., Galaga and more was Macross. I just had to play it when I saw it in the menu. Minmei came out and rang the gong and I was triple changing all over the place. Very outdated but still I almost broke down and bought one just for that, I think they were being sold for 50 dollars. Anyway just FYI!

Ok this may have been covered after 11 pages but.... The story of how man began, it's alot like adam and eve of course but the second part of that story is the bird man cut off his head and from the blood a woman was formed. Now does this mean there was a woman pilot that mated with Rooy and that is the reason for the evolutionary jump or that she just happened to stay behind after altering man. I believe it also said in the story that she returned to space and upon her return there would be great destruction. Anyways the whole reason I ask is the floating head in the sea apparently waiting to be placed atop the body.

I assume you're talking about the pics on page 208 and I agree. My personal favorite is the pic at the bottom right of 206! The early Gloval is funny too. So is there a translated manuscript available any where so we non-Japane can read it?
-
One thing I love about the book is seeing the early concept art of the characters. IMO Hikaru looked much better in the earlier art than that "I just got electricuted" hairstyle they used. Also the early version of Max seems to be used later as Kamjim/Quamzin or however you spell that damn name!

Not to mention most fansubs are made as .avi files which can be played on Divx, Realplayer, Windows Media. If there's a problem with the codecs just go to whichever media homepage you use and download the current version. IF you scan the file before you play it you'll know if there's a virus in it. Downloading is easier, less expensive, and doesn't support the pirates. I'm sure Ricebox or Newlife will have Zero 3 out very soon.

SaiKano (She, The Ultimate Weapon)
Backstabber replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well I just finished it. God what a heart wrenching story. You know I watched Grave of the Fireflies and my heart barely skipped a beat but this story just rips it out! Well it may have been english speakers on the other side but that doesn't mean they started it. Remember Pearl Harbor. We have to remember this anime was made for the Japanese audience so naturally they won't fight themselves and since english is japans second language it easier to use english than say spanish to show they're foriegners. What I did like about the story is that it didn't cast balme who started it but showed how once it started no one could stop it. Spoiler Getting back to Take's girlfriend and the downed pilot.... he didn't draw first. He had his hands up but her pain said kill and in the end it killed them both. I believe this is the cycle that the anime was trying to bring attention to.
