i have no real preferance one way or he other, but dince this thread is here Ill use to to raise a debate: Was DYRL supposed to replace macross within the stories universe? Now, i know DYRL is supposed to be a movie within the Macross universe, but i dont buy that it was always meant that way. In almost ALL the later series, refereances are made to the original, but they are almost all DYRL related, at least that I can think of. the only overt series referance i can think of is milia's fighter in mac7 being hr TV fighter. but movie references everywhere: -in M+, The macross looks like the DYRL version, and not the series version. Many of the Zenradi also look like the green versions found in the movie -In M7, Exodore looks like his DYRL design -In M7, Mylene and Basara wear the equivilant of DYRL flight suits. -In the flashbacks shown at the start of MF, The clips show the characters as they appear in DYRL. -In MF the school has Hikarus DYRL fighter on it. -In MF we see the guy running SMS is a DYRL style Zentradi. So what do u guys think? Is DYRL more closely resembling what REALLY happened?

Lucy in the movie i found clearer than Lucy in the OVA. You can clearly see that something is starting between her and Isamu, gets to a certain point and is stalled by the events and revelations that happen in the film. In the series its a bit more vague, as u never seethem go on more than 1 date, and thus the way she seems so hurt by Isamus seems a bit over the top. i assume by the rape sequence u mean Gulds flashbacks. basically, the 3 of them grew up as friends, and both the guys developed feelings for her, feelings that she returned to Isamu and not Guld. Guld walks in ont eh 2 of them getting close, and flies into a rage smacking down Isamu and then assaulting Myune before coming to his senses and backing away, which give him the last image of Isamu standing over Myune in the smashed up room. Unable to cope, his mind blocks it all out. Myune and Isamu presumably agree never to speak of it to Guld (When they are at the lookout and Guld and Isamu are about to fight, Myune steps in and looks at Isamu with this pleading look, which I had always thought was her trying to say "Let it go, we don't want him to remember"), but then when Guld sees Isamu again he starts getting flashes of the aftermath of the attack, and thinks that Isamu is the one who attacked her. oh, and my least favourite bit of the 19 is the way the gunpod attaches. Id rather it had tucked up under the pl;an better and not been able to fire in fighter than to get the way it is now.

i agree with the 51 wings, but its a hard design to really get right. Those wings are a nightmare, and i feel sory for the engineers as it is. The 51 overall is the least solid of the Valk designs.

Ive always loved the OAV, but often skipped part 3, coz it is a very SLOW 30 minutes. Im going to track down a copy of the movie, i love it!

God, id love a Skystriker...always wanted one as a kid. i remember seeing the Night Force version ona trip to the states, but i didnt get it (I dont remember what I bought instead) *sigh*

got my 1D over the weekend Sweet ride, Im very happy with it! I DO kinda wish it had come with pilots in normal flight suits though, but i realise Im in a minority.

i stil want to hear what the deal with this "Limited to 1000 pieces" business is! Ill get one but not if its limited and more expensive than the original!

Ive never seen it to buy here. we got the Mac+ perfect collection, but not this i think. Ill have to invest in the US version. Im more of a dub guy than a sub guy, so I miss Isamus English voice. He was awesome!

Region 4. I didn't know there had been a western release of the movie with a sub and dub! That's awesome! I sort of missed the opening, but I liked the pacing of the film so much it wasn't that big a deal in the end. My favourite addition was isamu skydiving in battroid down and then shifting to gerwalk right near the ground. That was beautiful!

so last night since I got my 11B i hit Youtube and found a listing for the Macross Plus movie which Ive never seen. "what the hell" i figure? even if the quality is bad, i know the story well so I just need to see the new bits. HOLY CRAP! I never in a million years thought Id enjoy it this much! the pacing is improved, the story feels like it makes more sense somehow, the action was great....Sure i missed the asteroid fight from the start, but that was really the only sequence that I would have liked back in the film. Im just floored that it was THIS much better as a film! Is there a decent DVD set to buy with good english Subs, or must i resort to a bootleg?

whats wrong with the 1J shoulders? Max TV arrived with my 11B the other day, and is a fine lookin machine! i like the paint scheme on it and dig the TV version head. 2 thumbs up!

Well mines pretty good over all. The loose cockpit is a pain, and it's a feature I wish they'd left out. Still, isnot a dealbreaker and the god out weighs the bad. I agree the rear wheels are a btch to get out and feel shorter than they should be. Not a dealer breaker either, but notthe best. Overallcim happy and would happily get another one
