man, the guy I bought off on ebay is being a pain, claiming its going to cost more than what he quoted, and what I already paid, and asking for more money. And because he's in Spain, there is a language barrier involved. Bloody ebay....

S'cuse the poor photography, I had about 20 mins to take these and a bunch of pics of new customs then upload em. Its the collection as of April 1st -
ill grant u my memories of a lot of those shows are fuzzy at best. Voltron and Transformers dont live up to the memories. Thundercats is actually pretty good, all things considered. I think whats annoying about the idea they are going with, is that CONCEPTUALLY they have a winner already. Improving the executioN was al lthey needed to do, both in the story and animation. The lean Lion-o they showed was actually not a bad idea; agile and lithe like a cat. I can even see some advangtages to having the cats on Earth; the idea of them hiding etc amoung the populous, or even better having everyone know about them. Its the Snarf as king and the band that seem to be just pandering to the lowest common denominator.

Im so hooked. I wish I hadnt just used a bunch of money on getting Macross stuff recently. I want to start buying the dvds too, though it seems my only choice is to get the chinese version with dodgy subs. better than nothing though.

Someone mentioned Gargoyles; now there was a cartoon...by DISNEY no less...that was a brilliant piece of animation. From the concepts and story, to the characters and animation, Gargoyles was ashow that was fun for kids but older fans could watch and enjoy as well. The depth to that show is still far beyond almost anything on the airwaves today, and the history and rich backstory hooked many a fan, myself included. Now i recall being somewhere in my late teens when it vcame out, but our nrighbour, who was around 10, LOVED the shpow, and we had long discussions on it. My point is this: Im not saying i want the same Thundercats as old, but with new animation. I like the idea of Lion-o being younger. I didnt mind the art style. Im not even against a total shift in characters, though id question why make it thunderctas and then totally different. But if it's good, Ill watch it. My complaint is the concept feels dumbed down. Its as if they are treating kids dumber by making a concept that seems shallow, when there is no need for it to be. My question is: Why make a show aimed at kids, when the REALLY popular western cartoons are the ones for EVERYBODY?

i like the Appendix idea a lot actually. Though new bodies would help the gold saints a lot. My main problem with the gold saint bodies is the older articulatio, especially around the hips. soe of them are tempting, but with all the bronze saints, and some of the asgard and poseidon guys also having cooler bodies, i dont feel the massive need to spend more money on them. Maybe they'll be redone again, who knows. Sagitarius, Leo, Gemini and Lyra (Is it lyra with the weapons?) are tempting.

Well, I scored a Jabu and a Ichi on The 'Bay. 2 for the price of one, which Im pretty happy about. I htink I'll try and grab all the bronze saint; I like the simplicity of the armour designs. Im also eyeing Orpheus, who looks great, and Krakken, who looks like a total badass.

Actually, thundercats is one of the few shows that holds up ok over time, for me anyway. Transformers was cringe worthy, and GI Joe never came out here, so I only saw a few episodes. Tnundercats, Silverhawks, COPS, TMNT....all great shows. Actually, TMNT is a great example of a redoing of a cartoon thats for kids and is still a brilliant view. Good stories and characters, beautiful artwork...its a fantastic series. Avatar: The Last Airbender would be another prime example of a modern day series thats just AMAZING to watch. You don't have to talk down to kids or make everything 'cooler' to have it be liked by them. Thundercats had great action, awesome characters who looked cool and had kickass weapons and great action. And the Thundertank.

What was the first Macross toy(s) that started your collection?
Scream Man replied to UN Spacy's topic in Toys
i had soke robotech stuff when it first came out, mainly the matchbox veritechs and a few of the Tomahawks. I managed to find a Milia transforming kit which i just sklapped togetehr and played with in my mid teens. Then in 98 I found a jetfirwe second hand at a big toy/comic shop on a holiday in anaheim. that was all i had till years later i found out abot Yamatos YF-19, and it went from there -
so its not a real product then?
