Macross would have the speed advantage and possibly logistics as well, but i dont think it has the power, manouverability or weapons tech to beat UC stuff. And Im more of a Macross fan as well. Maybe some of the later day valks, say the 11b on, but the VF-1 I think could be taken down by a 78-2. That said, if u advance tech on both sides, Gundams gets stupidly more powerful, so even later day vlaks would be hard pressed. Overall though i think Chin is right: Star Wars wins over all. I retract my arguements to the contrary in favour of superior evidence.

i actually might grab this; I can use the fold booster on the 21 and repaint the armour black to put on the 25th Anni 19....

Scream Man replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
Finally a good episode! I was starting to worry. Minimal fanservice too! obviously I was as stunned as anyone by the appearance of the Macross, and cant wauit to see what the hell is going on there! Oh, and people were question male Zents in the Q-raus, but Max flew one in DYRL? didn;t he? -

Any type really. a VF-1 is not a very agile craft ij terms of close quaters combat, and a Gundam is a vey close quaters kind of mech. If the -1 can hokld it at range for a bit, it might wear ity down with its gunpod, but i suspect the Gundam would get in close and finish it. As fotr the Xwing, the 1 can transform, which lends itself to a greater manouverability and range of fire than an xwing, which is locked into turning circles. Yes, the Xwing has shields, but i suspect they could be worn down by bullets.

id like to see the 0D myself. i dunno if we'll get it before the 11, but I think we'll see it come out.

my 3 are still fine. Just sayin....

i have to say that while i never liked the 21 in the anime, I LOVE the toy. Still prefer the 19 overall, but the 1 is a gorgeous bird...

I have an xbox, Im married, did indeed find a GF (Several vefore i got married in fact) and a VF-1 could beat an Xwing or a Cylon raider based on the transforming ability giving it more manouverability. There are harder ones than that. a VF-1 vs a Gundam for example, I suspect the Gundam would win....

the fold back, yes, but not to a narrow enough profile to make it through a gate. i love the whole idea of Cross sci-fi. Could an Xwing beat a Viper? Could a VF-1 take down a Gundam? Could the Guyver suit beat the Tekkaman Armour? i love this kind of stuff!

Anime and its perception in the West
Scream Man replied to VFTF1's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
One thing to consider, even amoungst anime fans, is subjectivity. Akilae mentioned Sailor Moon, Pokemon and Cardcaptors, and gave a 'shudder'. Now i know a lot of people who have similar reavctions to these shows; the kiddie shows of anime; Digimon and Yu-gi-oh are a coupole of otehr ones that spring to mind. next time u feel that "Lord these are lame" sensation, go back and watch an original episode of VOltron or Thundercats. And really listen to the lame dialogue. Sit through the bit at the end, the message (If it has one, like Sailor Moon). And then look me in the eye and tell me honestly that we were so much cooler than the kids now are For the record; My 27yr old wife loves Sailor Moon, I personally always dug Cardcaptors, and a goodmate of mine is a huge Pokemon fan. It happens Who are we to judge Personal taste is a funny thing. I loved Robotech to death a as kid, loved Macross when i discovered it in the early 90's. I still love it. But Frontier is....The fanservice is over the top for me. i will happily watch other anime on my lunch break at wqork....but frontier, always makes me a little embaressed. To me, it is representing that element of anime that many get picked on for. Make of that what u like -
Well this is a whole new level of Geeky.... Id laugh, except my first thoughts were how to pull this off, so who am i to judge? My immediate thoughts are no. The 19 cant tuck its wings the way u descrie, especially not in flight, and neither can the 1. i dont know the body spans, but the ones that CAN more completely fold their wings (21 and 51) i think qould be too wide bodied anyway. So while i say no, I loved the idea. And u could always use the Supergate.....

see, I dont like that one. Thats the kind of Gundam i always hated; overly elaborate and kind of goofy lookin... The Astraea F, however, looks awesome. I think with a little work, and some combining of parts of that and the Exia, you could get a different looking and cool mech out of that. -

Finished my Ez8. A Solid little kit, though not the best one ever. Loses a bit of flexability in places, and the backback makes it hard to balance out. Still, a nice piece, and feels very much like a CF kinda mech. a real troop unit. I dunno if it is or not, but it appears that way. -

I apologise for drifting off topic there. As i said, i wasnt asking why people hated the show, I was asking why people hated those who liked it. To go back on topic; Are there any successful live anime adaptions? At all? ever?
