Oh GOD that would be horrible for robocop! It reminds me of what they used in GI Joe!

I downloaded the first episode of the series blu-ray and I don't know, it was to difficult to watch it on my laptop it just doesn't have the power for the codec that ended up being used. But I still feel like what AnimEgo did 10 years ago was by far a fantastic remaster. Sadly I can't compare that to the Blu-ray release of the series. but I don't want to see the scene scratches on the top layers of the cels, I wanna see cleanliness. I wanna see sharp pictures and stunning color corrections. Closest that seemed to of done that in regards to an 80's cartoon was SONY BGM doing Transformers the Movie. They did a fantastic job in the remaster imo. However with that said, it's difficult to make something 30 years old and make it look fresh and new and vibrant. If you're going to put something on Blu-ray and you're going to remaster the footage and audio, take the time to make it look amazing and worth 80-100 dollars. I feel like some scenes were very nice to watch. Some scenes still looked a tad blurred or soft and grainy. I still need to finish watching the entire movie though I guess before I can say yay or nay. I do remember once when I first released my dub that I had a comparison shot of the old FX DVD and the HD DVD released few years ago and went "Wow!" at how much detail ended up getting lost in the old transfers. But in this blu-ray so far, it's just enhancements of the colors even more. I dunno, I kind of would of liked to of seen grain removed as much as possible. Just enough of an extent that you don't lose to much of the animation quality. The Audio track thus far doesn't ruin it for me like ADV's did. I can't even stand listening to the english dub of the ADV release, it's jarring and out of place. This, not so much right now. For now, I still stand by that taking something 30+ years and putting it on HD remaster to blu-ray is a difficult task that needs more refining. You're taking something that was never planned to go that far in definition and you're bound to get something in there that people wont like. Maybe 40th or 50th Anniversary we'll see it in jaw dropping holographic definition and play the roles of our favorite characters. I could dream.

So moving on. I got my blu ray in......had to hunt the mail man down I missed him by 3 minutes luckily he was still in the neighborehood. I LOVE the graphics on the PS3 game. Crisp and clean with a lot of detail. Controls take a little getting use too since it's different from the PSP to me. Movie wise I'm disappointed. And I don't mean that by the edits or anything, they're not that bothersome and I can kind of see how they work. Like the stomping of the head, Miriya's foot puts the camera "out of focus" and the decapitation I think could be now viewed as that everyone got vaporized. But I don't see how there's a few frames missing of Badolza's head caving in. 1 thing that does get me, was the sudden cut of background music during Minmay's realization with Hikaru. That was just awkward of a cut. In the end I do feel like they could of done a much better job of restoring the film, it doesn't feel clean at all to me. And looking at comparison shots of the DVD and Blu ray the differences to me are just subtle, barely noticeable.

Yes was more directed that another person needs confirmation. But none the less people are still pissing and moaning over the changes. Shoji may be the George Lucas of Japan or not, dunno. But it is their work and can approve or disapprove whatever they want IMO. I think the changes made are superficial, though they were unneccessary. Now as you mentioned my stuff I'm more upset that it was posted without stating where it came from as proper credit.

that's kind of how i feel about people mentioning the edits....sorry. I really don't care to much about the minor changes as long as we still get the same kind of story we've come to known the last near 30 years. Finally found my tracking number so it's sittin in HK for right now, that's a bitch. Seeing how I technically paid for that sucker on monday.
-
Hm....damn that's just odd. I was charged beginning of the week, and yet nothings been shipped which is just so damn weird it really is. Technically it should be shipped today regardless if it's in China or if it's in Japan. When i wake up in the morning I should have an email from Play-Asia.
-
I'm curious as well....this is making me nervous about my dub though. As for the purchase itself, I dunno if anyone has been charged but I just got zapped on my bank account by Play-Asia for my copy stating it'll be shipped out July 26th. If that's the case it could very well show up right on my birthday.

Pff, I can do bale's batman impression with my hands behind my back, blinde folded and drinkin a bottle of whiskey reading his lines and probably get an oscar in the end. His voice was no more inspiring than watching paint dry after the first movie. Not too mention his mouth just kind of hanging open like a tunnel....dunno why, maybe jus to hard to breath in the suit? I did see the movie again today. And I think this theater had a blown speaker somewhere cause it was even worse to hear what was going on than the first time.

That'd of been nice to of known starting last week at least. Never a good sign when there's a sudden 2 week hiatus. And seeing that trailer really made me mad I'm gonna have to wait more!

My girlfriend has been doing the same thing. Last weekend I heard her humming the SDFM theme and I just looked at her going "Dafaque I just hear?" Ok, no 3D then lol I can live with that.

iMAX shows were sold out in my area so my girlfriend and I had to see the 35mm. There was a guy and gal as Batman and Catwoman handing out little flyers for a martial arts school. Didn't see any detective lessons being offered though....damn! Good movie, but I had 2 issues, 1 I of which was well aware of possibly happening which is 1) Bane regardless of having to obviously go back and dub over later, was still hard to understand at times. But then 2) The music was so loud at times that it was hard to understand anyone with lines.

Depending on how heavy the alterations have been to the DYRL film on Blu-ray, I may just redo a lot of the audio other than vocals, vocals are just fine as they are. I know there are still some things I'd like to make corrections on, and maybe this will be the best chance to do that!

DYRL BD Remaster - the Good.......and the BAD.
Hikuro replied to SCOOPUDA!'s topic in Movies and TV Series
So I may have to do a few alterations to my English audio track then. I'll just wait and see how bad this is when my copy shows up. -
I was taking photos for work, and one of the files I had to do contained an aftermarket ipod interface owners manual for Honda and Acura vehicles. I think we can all agree on who that girl in the middle is.

I don't know if people really mess with the character features that much. As for ship designs, they've released some new stuff. Like there's the Odyssey class that's officially designated the newest Enterprise as. And a new Akira style ship known as the Armitage class, and a Carrier of some kind that's suppose to be loaded with fighters. They're also allowing you to build your own star base system if you're apart of a fleet I guess. But I don't wanna join any ol' fleet unless it's a good one and it's so hard to figure that out.

Random thought, anyone interested in 3D DYRL? The most simplistic form I can do is the traditional Red/Blue overlay so all you'd need are glasses. However I think I will possess the software for full color spectrum, although I wont be able to view it on my side. The burner I have will play 3D, but my Laptop is not compatible for that. The program I'm going to get is called xilisoft if anyones heard of it. It'll allow me to rip the blu ray encode and convert it to any format I wish. Following that I'll be using adobe cs6 to subtitle the Zentran speach. I hadn't decided if I'll be subbing the Minmay songs, probably will but they wont be flashy. Suggestions?

Out of curiosity, what are the colors for the VF-1 Apollo Squad? I always saw it as some kind of a very light gray and indigo blue I think. But any inclination via maybe Tamiya paint or such?

They got back to you? Did you pay upfront? I sent them a message but I never got anything back : / feels like this is nothing more than a pipe dream to me.
-
oh wow now Nippon Yasan says they've got it in stock.

Yep so mine doesn't lock up. It DID very briefly but it refuses to lock up in battroid mode.

Ya that little panel needs to tuck into the back side of the head to get that bloody thing into fighter mode. And watch out for those little flaps on the front chest. They popped out a hand ful of times while I messed with it.

Hm I'll try that as well only thing that clicked was the back side.
