Hello all. I have modified one of my reissue Bandai Hikaru 1J's so that it now has its own heatshield. First of all, I exchanged the Hikaru VF-1J nose section for a Roy VF-1S gray one. Then I placed one of Rohby's custom resin heatshields on it and had an instant Hikaru with removeable heatshield. The gray on the resin is a little lighter than the Hikaru but I'm sure that Rohby could have gotten it even closer if I had asked. Check out this link.

Only now, after 20 years do I discover that COLLECTING the Bandai Strike, Super Ostrich and Elintseeker was a waste of time. I guess I should sell mine for $1 a piece since they're not collectors grade merchandise.

Actually, when I said "I can remember a few years ago when I had contact information on Bandai regarding our interest in 1/55's. I believe the question that Bandai asked was "In what order would you like to see the 1/55's reissued in?" Does anybody else remember this?," I was in fact saying that they did ask that question. They also provided you with an address to write to and let them know what your input was on the issue. I just wish that I hadn't deleted the information. Once the reissues started coming out, I started deleting them one by one. However, to my recollection, the Strike, Elint and Ostrich weren't in this list because it was only Takatokus. Therefore, the only item that was on the list that wasn't reissued was the GBP armor.

Actually, I have a reissure Hikaru VF-1A that had a broken antenna. So I have placed this piece on a window seal and will compare it to its head every month. I guess you can that my Hikaru has donated his parts(taken one for the team) for the sake of science.

Hello all. A few days ago I saw this guy who had a Macross emblem on his truck so decided to mention that I was a fan and we started talking all things Macross. When we got to the topic of Bandai reissues, he mentioned that an acquaintance of his in Japan worked for Bandai. He went on to say that to his knowledge, Bandai had put UV inhibitors within the plastic due to their knowledge of the yellow valk syndrome. I was wondering if anyone else, especially our fellow members in Japan had heard anything about this? If not, maybe we could find out how to contact Bandai about this. eBay link "figure stands approximately 12 inches tall" I just noticed this comment on that auction. I would say that this is stretching the truth a little if one knows how to measure inches. This bootleg Roy stands at around 7 inches.

In regards to what I said, I was referring to a 1/100 Bandai toy which of course was produced from the molds to a 1/100 Takatoku toy. I also bought one of these bootlegs to butcher for a project of mine and I will tell you that it is EXTREMELY obvious when holding it that the bootleg I was commenting on IS copied from a 1/100 toy. I'll take your word for it, but can you point to something in particular that makes the bootleg more like a 1/100 than a 1/55? The only thing I can think of is the hands, which don't retract. I remember that the bootleg has a different kind of chest locking mechanism from the 1/55--is that more like the 1/100? This item has the same chest locking mechanism that you are talking about. Another area that shows that it's a blown up 1/100 would be the legs. The landing gear as well as the feet are definitely of 1/100 origin. It's too bad that I butchered up the few that I had, or I would take pictures in a side by side comparison. However, I stand corrected by Hurin, the mid arm section, mid leg sections and the 1990 reissue head are more like a Bandai 1/55. Basically, if you hold one of these in your hands next to a 1/100 you'll see that everything else is copied from the 1/100. Hey Lord Kungfu, would you be able to show us a picture of the retractable hands on that "small bootleg" you're holding?

The one in the auction is one of those bootleg 1/60's that was originally sculpted out of a 1/100 Bandai. The head in question is about half as big as this bootleg. The head lasers don't really have much in common except for the the fact that there are 4 of them. The one thing they do have in common is that they are both crap. Note: Edited to have a little more fun ranking these cheesy toys.

I think that the owner of TISINC99.COM should get into the oil industry. As fast as the owner(s) raise the price on the 1/48's, I would think that they'd enjoy all of the price hikes they could participate in at the nearest gas station. Seriously, I know that items increase in value after production has ceased. However, if the price increases by $25 a day, that's just pure greed. So to those that are thinking of buying from TISINC99.COM, maybe you should keep looking elsewhere. Looking for the best bargain will eventually force the high priced retailer to lower their prices to fair market value or force them to begin collecting their inventory.

Wow, I didn't know that I'm considered a rare fan of so many interest. Actually, I really liked He-Man because of the fluid character animation which I thought was the best at the time. However, I HATED THAT STUPID LITTLE ORCO CHARACTER! He and Snarf from Thundercats were like the Jar Jar Binks of the 80's.

Another thing to keep in mind Agent-GHQ, is that by making references to Arafat, you yourself will look extremely suspicious to many of us here. Arafat is well known for using multiple ID's to promote himself. After all, he used one of his alter egos to nominate himself to the Straighshooters list. Bottom line, don't buy or sell anything to anyone who lives within 100 miles of Paterson, NJ!!!

Hey Rolo, I mean Redemption, it's good to see you on these boards again! Believe it or not, your custom parts were what originally got me interested in customizing 1/55's. I tried to contact you about some of those custom feet, but I guess it was about the same time that things "went south" for you. I also remember that custom nose cone that you were developing. It's too bad that we never got to see it completed. Oh well! If you're ever back into the market of selling custom feet, let me know. Also, if you'd like to part with some of those 1/55 parts, keep me in mind.

UV damage is not prejudice towards Bandai, Takatoku and Matsushiro 1/55 plastic, it has love for all of plastics. I will venture to say that Yamato and Toynami's plastic should yellow sooner because of their inferior quality as compared to the plastic Bandai uses for the 1/55. I know that you can find more yellowed Bandai's but that's just because unlike that Yamato's and that other brand, the Bandai's have been around for a while and have stood the test of time. As I recall, a few people here complained about yellowing arms on their 1/60's. Yellowing from a toy that is still in its diaper's. So as long as you don't lay your Bandai's outside to get a sun tan and you avoid sharing second hand smoke with them, they should be fine. Oh yeah, avoid the energy efficient bulbs as well, they produce UV light and WILL yellow all of your valks in no time at all. So don't worry to much about the tank quality 1/55's. As long as you take care of them, they'll be with you for life.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I too can't get enough of the 1/55! Now I have moved on to obtaining all of the bootleg 1/55's.
