One name comes to mind, Anasazi! If anyone has or can make the decals for your project, it's him. I think it's cool that you're going to make an AngelBirds custom out of a 1/55th. Please take pictures when you're done and have them placed in the customs section for all to see. Believe it or not, the last two custom 1/55th's to be added to the customs page are mine and I added them a LONG time ago. It would be nice to see more love given to the 1/55th. Valkfan

This link takes me to the homepage. I guess I'll just use the search function to find it. Thanks. Valkfan

Hey Kanata, in case you didn't know, most if not all of the Joon's Patriot VF-1J's had the head/neck mount assembled incorrectly from the factory. That's why the Patriot has the whole Giraffe thing going on. I used to own a few that I eventually customized but while they were still Joon's I detached the head/neck mount and reassembled it correctly. Basically, the spring is put between the neck mount and the head as opposed to inside the neck mount like it was designed to be. Just thought that I'd point it out to ya. Valkfan 339159 thanks for the heads up. Fixed that little problem. Surprised I never noticed that myself. Guess I should play with my boxed toys occasionally 11 minutes from valkfans post to a completed task... not bad for my hippe ass 339160 Hey Kanata, do you exchange the tailwings since they're all put in backwards or do you leave it as is?

I really like the picture of these customs but I do notice a few things that bug me about them. First, only the top of the left wing has the Macross symbol as opposed to both wings on both sides. Also, the lower leg sections should say AngelBirds and not U.N. Spacy which should only be placed on top of the right wing. Other than that these are some really sweet variants of the AngelBirds fighters and I'd love to see more of them. Where'd you find this picture? Valkfan

Sweet as! Mate that would be so awesome to see your Angel Squad! Especially seeing one in all 3 modes. Most important. Cheers~! 339156 I've noticed you've said "Angel Squad" but I'm talking about AngelBird 1. I'm not sure about making a whole squadron. If you look carfully at the artwork or in the anime, you'll notice that there is only 1 paint scheme for the AngelBirds just like there is for the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds. Obviously, the variants are just custom jobs from the creator. So, once I make one, all I have to do is customize 5 sets of tailwings numbered 1 through 5 to have every AngelBird in the squadron. I do admit that all five side by side would be bad ass. Valkfan

In the VERY near future, I'll be completed with my AngelBirds custom and will be putting the pictures in the customs section. Valkfan

I already provided two simple solutions to this problem HERE.

By the way, I'm the guy who sent you the large Hergoss wings. I also have the nose section if you're interested. Below is a picture I believe I found somewhere in this forum but I couldn't find the exact page. Apparently HappyWell is issuing another VF-1S bootleg this spring. Here is is in the new orange box. It looks like the mold hasn't changed but the valk color scheme has.

Hey Kanata, I wish you luck in finding a boxed Hergoss Walkyrie, yes it's spelled with a W. I have been looking for one as well but have only come across loose damaged ones. Here is a picture I saved from VF1X.com before it went offline. I really miss VF1X.

That's a real nice job on the Sunstreaker. However, being an Alternator/Binaltech, shouldn't the eyes be blue? That is unless you are basing this custom on the G1 toy. Edit: Oh, wait a minute, I see that you've even put red stickers on the shoulders. I guess it is a G1(toy) Sunstreaker. RJ

I'll believe it when I see a RED Autobot symbol instead of the PURPLE Autobot symbol in those photos. The head looks fairly legit but the miscolored faction symbol screams Photoshop.

Or you can sand down the black hinge(upper arrow) so that it doesn't make contact with the rear inner door jam(lower arrow).

A few pages ago, I mentioned that I couldn't get the knees to bend and so I asked anyone for input. I never got any so I just decided to force the knee to bend and sure enough they are extremely easy to bend after the first time. As for the arm articulation being "limited," there are two easy ways to remedy this for anyone who has the skill of precision. You can either loosen the two screws behind the shoulder until the shoulders are able to bend to a horizontal position.

Agreed, it does look cool. I was just pointing out that it doesn't appear to be an OFFICIAL color scheme from Macross. However, it's nice to see a unique custom paint job that retains a Macross paint scheme, if that makes sense.

That's the picture alright. Thanks valk1j! It is clearly a brown 1J, so I'm thinking that the grey one pictured above is in error. Does anyone else remember a scene with a grey VF-1J? I certainly can't.
-
Yes that's the Alaska Base VF-1A and the grey VF-1J is supposed to represent the VF-1J that Hikaru is seen training in while becoming a fighter pilot. Although, I think that GREY is an incorrect color. I've always thought that the VF-1J he flew was a BROWN cannon fodder 1J with some color loss due the age of the animation. Maybe I'll have to view that episode again to see if I'm right. Hey, can anyone get a screen capture of the 1J trainer?

At least we can see that in this Takatoku ad, they were planning on releasing the VF-1D and Max VF-1A valkyries. Too bad things went the way they did for Takatoku.
-
I would say yes, some of us are interested in getting a custom box. However, I think that it would be really cool if you went a step further and created a box for the following valkyries as well. 1) VF-1A Max 2) VF-1A Kakizaki 3) VF-1A Angelbird 4) VF-1A Alaska (might be stretching it here because this one only had one minute of airtime, if that. ) I would say that the first 3 would be a definite must in order to create a complete line of Takatoku SDF Macross boxes. I know that I'd buy one of each.

For those of you who live in the east SF Bay Area, I have some good news. Day before yesterday a friend of mine(doesn't collect TF's) went into a local Target to kill time while his tires were mounted on his truck and he ended up finding a Windcharger and a Swindle for me. To top that off, today he and his girlfriend were near Pleasanton and they ended up going into Target. While there the same friend found a Grimlock, Ravage, Swindle and Windcharger. I am going to his place tomorrow to pick up my Grimlock and Ravage. The bottom line is that if you live in or around the Bay Area, this might be a "Prime" time to check out the local Target's. It seems like Target stores are restocked.

Edited: I have found that with a little force, Windcharger's knees will bend. They are extremely tight at first but with a little bit of time, they bend just fine.

Damn, that's corrosive. What kind of paint thinner did you use? I used Testors Brush Cleaner to wipe off any overspray on my Tracks and had no problem. As for the seats, all I did was paint over the red. I have no problems transforming Tracks with the seats painted black. I used Testors Paint Thinner to remove the red paint. I do want to clarify that the reason the plastic looks melted is because I tried to glue it back together with Krazy Glue. The seats(where the metal hinge is located) actually broke into 5 pieces on one side and 3 pieces on the other side. I'm wondering if it's a combination of inferior plastic + a possible weakening of it(plastic) when the metal bar is pushed in place on the assembly line. The reason I say this is because the plastic didn't seem to stretch apart but actually fractured like a puzzle with very little pressure appled by the Q-tip. I am now thinking of just painting them black when I acquire a new one. Hey areaseven, how did you cut the water slide decal to fit around the raised Corvette emblem on the rear of the car? I had to cut the hood decal to fit correctly and I found the roof decal a little small but the back emblem presented a real problem to cut around. Did you make some sort of a template? If so, what did you use for this?
