No, we'd definitely let you know. Right now, you're right behind Hitler, Carl Macek, Max Jenius, and probably me.

I'm here for the PRON. Aw crap there isn't any? I outtie. I said Max was the witty mod! You're still the NEW guy... now go and act like I tell you to!

Folks, this all boils down to a fundamental difference in sense of humor between two parties. I understand the nature of your complaints... but I personally am disgusted by easily you all ignore the actual work that goes into modding this board and the great job these guys do. Instead you all seem to think that mods should have a similar NICE personality. Which is silly, because these guys are people. They're people who care enough about this site to give up their time monitoring the board and putting out stupid fires, trolls, etc. And 99.9% of the time, they do it without most of us knowing it. But that doesn't matter, does it? The only thing that matters is people who dislike the guy's personality and a few remarks. The fact is this - some of you folks and Max might not get along if you were both members. His sense of humor (which I and many others here find refreshing and witty) would rub you the wrong way. You guys might clash occasionally. Which is nothing new... happens to members all the time. But because he's a mod and you're not, you feel as though he's got to act like you want him to? Because of obligation to his mod job? It's as if him having the power to close threads and what not bothers you. If he was just another member, you guys would agree to disagree or (hopefully) ignore one another. But instead we get threads with "Exhibit A", etc. Why does this bother you so much? Are you that sensitive that some mod on a anime board can upset you this badly? I think this is a silly waste of time on your point. You wish the guy was nicer to you? Okay. I, personally, don't care. It doesn't bother me that a mod can be smart-alecky. I think it makes this place more fun. And more importantly, I appreciate how much crap these mods have to deal with. At the very least I think you guys should recognize that not everybody (even Mods) are going to be your bestest friends ever. Accept it, move on, and continue enjoying Macross, isn't that why we're here?

Okay... that did it. I don't know exactly why, but that Trailer heist was enough to push me over the edge. So now I've gone out and bought the Takara version (3 days before Christmas... I feel so dirty!) for myself. I hope Santa wasn't watching.

Weird... the Smeagol/Deagol scene was one my favorite parts of the film. It felt brutal and honest and it set the tone for the movie exceptionally well. FotR had the best opening, but it was really an opening for all 3 films. TT had the worst opening, being just a recap of Gandalf's "demise" with the Balrog. All in all, after my second viewing (this time on a Grand Screen, which was awesome), I'd have to say this is easily my favorite of the 3 films.

Totally Off Topic - But FREAKIN ME OUT
Blaine23 replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yes but instead of leaving nice things I am going to leave dead cats. Start with dead kittens... there has to be some kind of build up. Also, Mecha... was it... an EVIL fruit basket? Don't underestimate the power of a good evil fruit basket. Sure, it looks pleasant... but it's ability to corrupt the hearts of men is absolute. There is only one master of the fruit baskets and he wants it. Each day you feel an all-encompassing urge to take the fruit basket to him, or lest you be hunted down by his fruit-basket minions. The fruit basket must be destroyed. In the fires from whence it came. For the safety of us all. Oh, and merry christmas. -
Yike! $50 for the armor? And that is for the 1/60 version. Hate to see how much it is for the 1/48 version. Well... duh. GBP armor covers quite a bit of valk. And considering that the FAST packs for the 1/48 run about $60-$70... I'd expect the GBP 1/48 armor to be no less than $100+... but it will be worth it. You guys talk like it's already been announced It is inevitable. And that is good. But, for the record, there has been no announcement about 1/48 scale GBP. So listen up good, newbs. Zentrandude - it hasn't been released yet, so no one really knows about the mobility. My guess is that it will definitely still attain cooler poses than the Chunky Monkey, but all that armor is definitely going to be restrictive.

I would remark in this thread, but I think instead I'll just hit myself in the nads with a clawhammer. It's much more pleasant than going through the motions of another Macross 7 bitchfest. Watch it, don't watch it... I don't care.

Horribly drab colors? Dude, the beige and orange rocks. I love me the VF-1D just like it is. Save your fancy-schmancy color schemes for Sound Force in M7.

No, not really. I don't follow you. Still after the climax the ending seems to go on and on. They could have saved some of it for the extended cut. I don't disagree with you Jem (I haven't seen the film yet, so I can't) - I was just making a point about fandom in general. People who love something are the first to see it and usually the first to bash it. If PJ had cut some of the ending materials, you'd have somebody else dogging it because PJ "cut out the heart" of LotR. Hell, people were already whining about the lack of Saruman in RotK before the movie came out... and that sequence is more anti-climactic than anything that he could have left in the finished film. People willing to stay up until 4 in the morning on a work night to see a flick are almost certain to be let down somewhat... this is a movie, folks. Not the rapture. Well, that's what I mean. People will nitpick a movie no matter when they see it. You were hearing it from those guys then because they had been the first to see it. The nitpicking will go on. It always has and always will. Makes no difference about the general fandom when they saw it. True dat. The nitpicking will continue, regardless. But I still hold to my theory that the more rabid the fan, the more rabid the nitpick.

Not married, but I might as well be. I've been with the same wonderful girl for 3 years (as of this week, actually... we met at a Christmas party). Since then, we've lived together for 2 years and now I've bought a house for us to live in. Hell, today I spent $150 bucks on a new headboard instead of a new 1/48 1J... like I said, I might as well be married. Something tells me a ring might be the next thing I have to buy instead of Yamatos.

You thought the movie dragged on at the end... yet you await the Extended version of said film. Uh... okay. Hope the extra 30-40 minutes of footage added to the film helps it move along at a brisker pace for you. And Bad Santa ruled. Why is your beard coming off? Santa loved a woman who wasn't clean. But there is a place for all opinions... definitely not a film for everyone.

Totally Off Topic - But FREAKIN ME OUT
Blaine23 replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
New theory... What if you're the one doing all of this, Mechamaniac. Maybe you never knew it, but you have split personalities (Toy Collector/Strange Elf fetishist) and you're being forced to deal with them both, causing delusions (the phone calls... are they real? Do you really know?). Perhaps, this is your tangled, tangled, mess of a mind's way of signalling the endgame. Only one your personalities may survive this duet... pray to whatever you hold dear that the Secret Elf side doesn't win. Then no one will be safe. -
Merry F'ing Christmas, gang. Thanks for the groovy site and board, as always.

Okay, let's get it all out of the way... MOVIE TALKERS SUCK ASS! PEOPLE WITH CELL PHONES RINGING (AND SOMETIMES BEING ANSWERED AND CONVERSED THROUGH) DURING A MOVIE SUCK ASS! PEOPLE INVOLVED IN INMATURE BEHAVIOR, INAPPROPRIATE LAUGHTER AND GENERAL ASS-NESS DURING A MOVIE I PAID $8 BUCKS TO SEE.... SUCK SERIOUS ASS! Whew... I feel better. As for RotK... I absolutely loved it. I think the biggest strength of the film (all 3, really) is PJ's direction in the smaller, more personal moments of the film. Yes, the camera-work the details, the effects, the costumes & props are amazing... but to me what makes the movie really work are the character driven moments like Sam & Frodo have, Denenthor and singing Pippin, Eowyn and Theoden, Aragorn and Elrond... These are the moments that feel right... the actors nail the emotion pitch perfect and the film actually breathes with life. The length of the film? Fine. I would have sat there for another 2 hours, if there were a need to. To me, the ending was great... not too much crap (razing of the Shire, boredom) but just enough to wrap things up sufficiently. That's my 2 cents. Now, I can't wait for the Extended Edition.

Clash of the Bionoids. Worst. Dub. Ever. Period. As for everything else... I've watched most of my favorite Anime (Macross and it's sequels, Evangelion, Escaflowne, Bebop, Gundam) both in English and Japanese, and none of it is so bad that it ruins the anime for me. I guess I'm not that particular.

Totally Off Topic - But FREAKIN ME OUT
Blaine23 replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Or... F) The Freemasons (yes, they are behind everything) G) Satan (like I said, his recruitment is subtle and quite seductive) H) Product Placement Advertisers hell-bent on converting MacrossWorld members. Come to think of it... I want some M&M's... and a cold Sprite to wash it down... then maybe I'll run by Hallmark. -

Blaine23 replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think at this point, this thread has me more scared of finding AgentONE's homebrew DNA on my doorstep than of any Secret Elves. Though, I still think you're slowing being seduced by a Satanic cult, Mechamaniac. It's all M&M's & Sprite early on, then a quick descent into sacrificing goats and wayward children. -

That is awesome. One man's rant whilst selling a complete pile of crap. There are dumb people everywhere, though... I'm not sure why people expect the internet to be any different.
-
I've got about 3 of them. And they fall apart all the time. Yet I love them. Banpresto Valks - tiny, crappy, wonderful.
-
Hee... isn't it funny that the same people who are most likely to nitpick a film apart are the same ones who line up to see it at midnight? Just an observation. I'll do my nitpicking after I see it tonight at 8.

Ridley Scott to direct the next Alien film?
Blaine23 replied to Jolly Rogers's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Ridley Scott is about 50 times the director that Cameron ever was. I'd take a new Alien flick with him calling the shots over a lukewarm Cameron cuddly-action flick any day of the week. At least Ridley would take a few risks. Cameron would repeat what already worked once, add more "heartwarming" scenes, and quadruple the effects budget. Then he'd never actually make the film (See True Lies 2, T3, etc...) Cameron had a great run, but he's gone schmaltzy... hell, he doesn't even really make movies anymore, he just puts out IMAX crap and Dark Angel. Ridley, on the other hand, created the Alien success with the first film, then went on to direct Gladiator, Blade Runner, Black Hawk Down, hell - even Thelma & Louise. He can do anything and usually tries to. Either way, it's all poo. This is just fanboy rumor crap - chances are that nothing as good as Alien or Aliens will ever happen to the franchise ever again. -
The Macross animators really likes 70s music...
