Muhahahahaha!!! *cough*ahem*/cough* Heh... good one, DA. Now I'm going to attempt to not say anything clever. Like that's possible.

Happy new years... 2004 can't possibly not be a better year for me personally than 2003. The rundown on 03: Lost my job. Tree fell on my house from a giant storm. My old band busted up. And I had to euthanize my 11 year old best friend and Austrailian Shepherd, Esther. So, here's to great year to all of us. Crap, I'm gonna be 30 this year.

Less, actually. Sorry, man... I just don't dig the designs that much.

Now everyone can fully admit that calling him JCVD is not only fun... but far easier to type. And to clarify... I actually like his movies in the same way that I like Segal's... fun to mock, decent action, and overall silliness. Good enough for me. I'll watch it on cable... but I'd never pay to rent or own. That's better than alot of movies, in my book.

LOL, Teddy Ruxpin. Not to get off topic, but did anyone ever wonder what would happen if you put a Death Metal band tape in a Teddy Ruxpin doll?. We did. Well not, death metal, per se - but we put some Led Zeppelin cassettes in my friend's little sister's Ruxpin as a lad. Very funny at first. Then basically like listening to a bad cassette player disguised as a creepy teddy bear. We were just so sure that he would begin rocking out like he had a guitar... we were wrong. As for the giant AT-ST... I do believe that transcends even my dorkiness. Now if some could clone Natalie Portman, I'll cough up 18k in a heartbeat.

Don't feel bad, I'm still (patiently?) waiting for mine from an eBay source. Sigh.

Bah. Cinematography is for wanna-be Spielbergs. I'll have to disagree with you on this one, WDC. To me what makes 6 string Samurai great fun is that sense that all involved know very well that they're making a silly movie and they just run with it. The one liners are awesome and the film has a vibe, like Evil Dead or Pitch Black that just makes it enjoyable to me, despite its obvious paper-thin plot or giant lack of technical quality. Basic lowdown - if you're in the mood for crap, this is very much a movie to rent.

Heh.. the best thing about Seagal was that you could always throw in the cheeezy tagline "Steven Segal is -" before most of his films. It's even funnier if you use Mechamaniac's list - Still, I got no vote for Michael Dudikoff for action tool, I instead nominate the Perfect Weapon himself - Jeff Speakman! Also, my favorite thing about Jean Claude wasn't about him, but they had a special on MTV called Fanatic years back. It was weird, basically they introduce a "star" to his/her "biggest fan ever". Basically, it was like "Hey, here's your stalker! Make nice!" But the Jean Claude fan ran his own crappy dojo and only refered to Van Damme as "JCVD". That made me cry tears of pure laughter. I only refer to him as JCVD now. Or "Van Damage!"

Ah... Devil's Backbone rules completely, EXO. My fave "not for the kids" comics - Anything by Alan Moore - but specifically, From Hell (completely different and WAY better than the lame movie), Watchmen, V for Vendetta, and best of all - MiracleMan (damn McFarlane for not reprinting these in GN format) Also - Stray Bullets (by David Lapham, awesome stuff) Starchild (very indie and not easy to find, by James Owen) Replacement God (Zander Cannon) Preacher (Garth Ennis rules) Sandman (or anything else by Gaiman) Sin City (probably the one that AgentOne would dig the most, by my guess. Go purchase "That Yellow Bastard"... you'll love it. Frank Miller is a god.) Thieves and Kings Bone Castle Waiting All very different comics, no superheroes, no tights, most aren't even printed in color. But they are all completely unique and unlike 99% of comic books. And most are made by independent artist/publishers who tell the story the way they want to.

Whats your favorite dirty pleasure Scifi flick?
Blaine23 replied to GobotFool's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Another big vote for Waterworld... hate it, love it... all at the same time. Also on my list - Tron Brother From Another Planet MegaForce Pitch Black And even though it's far from SciFi, I'm with Eriku on Caveman. Best stupid movie ever. Kaka! -
Yes. Yes you are.

You got me... but I'd kill to have that VF-1S Battroid poster in Pic 1. How groovy is that?

Heh... the madness continues. My vote is a tie between Keith and AgentONE's as being the absolute best so far.

Yup... pick up a Hellboy Graphic Novel, it's well worth it. Mignola's art is super duper refined and they'll never be able to pull it off on film. But the trailer for the film looked very good (if different than the artwork) and I'm looking forward to see what G. Del Toro puts together. Should be a fun flick, at least.

My Hikaru 1A had a very tough year. First he was bought by a friend of mine. My friend cast the 1A out of his home and into my arms because the 1A was unworthy. That, and my friend was tight for cash. The 1A then came into my home, began sleeping late, eating too much, and taking prescription drugs. My prescription drugs, no less. Me and the other assorted Macross, Gundam, and Evangelion mecha from the shelf sat him down and we had an intervention. The 1A decided to give therapy a try. Now, he's back in time for Christmas, clean and sober. We cry alot, but that's just our way. Okay, most of that is BS... okay, all of it is... but he's got a pretty dull life. He's just kickin' it on my shelf next to the other Yamatos. I'll ask him how he's enjoying his birthday when I get home.

Nope. And I don't buy her shoes. Or clothes, for that matter. Not unless she specifically points it out and says "buy me this in this size". Basically, neither one of us wants to screw up, so we stick to things we won't get wrong on personal gifts. I'd hate to imagine what kinda crap toys I'd end up with otherwise.
-
Damn! That is very well done! Excellent work... get some bigger pics up so I can see more detail.

Yep. I suggest you find out where Roy and Max live, then follow Agent One's advice and "decorate" their doorknobs. Of course that might cause you to end up at the bottom of whatever river AidanK and Yoshi are residing in... but it's worth the risk.

I got 29.whatever % ... Total Geek. Still, the test was good, I got busted mainly for programming skills (it was a job, folks...) and my sordid past with comic books and roleplaying games. I think alot of us would have done much, much worse had the test veered anywhere near Toy Collecting. ... not to mention obscure, 20 year old, imported from Japan, over $100 toy collecting.

Passing on the SOC GX-21 EVA 03 and GX-22 EVA 04?
Blaine23 replied to GDomino's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hee... I'm laughing just because I'm reading this on a Macross messageboard. Yep... different heads, different names... same basic toy. Nothing like that around here. I think they look great. Soon as I can scare up the dough, I'm gettin' 'em. -
Christmas has FINALLY arrived! Were you naughty...
Blaine23 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I got a Honda Element! No more driving a beat-up '94 Chevy Van from work! Of course, I bought it for myself, but it smells like Christmas to me. I also got about 8 million dollars in Home Depot gift certificates. Apparently everyone in my family realizes what it means to buy a 90-year old home. -
My Directorial Debut - Leprechaun Back 2 Tha Hood
Blaine23 replied to hirohawa's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Congrats, Hiro... it's an achievement to have made anything in mainstream Hollywood, so hat's off to ya. But I'm still wondering (and far too lazy to check on IMDB for an answer), if the title of the film is "Back 2 the Hood"... does this imply that the Leprechaun has spent time in "the Hood" before? And is "the Hood" a good place to find Leprechauns, pots of gold, Lucky Charms, or the Lord of the Dance? Is the ghetto now America's mythological pseudo-Ireland? Is there a "Ghetto-henge?" -
Totally Off Topic - But FREAKIN ME OUT
Blaine23 replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
* goes back and re-read every Blaine23 post in this thread * * Blaine23 bows deeply and then wonders why none of his theories have yet been proven true * Perhaps MM's "hooded figures" (ie- Satanists or freemasons - not much difference, really) proved to be too much a match for him, his guns, and his Missus. Or he's recovering from finding out that the Fruit Basket should never be gotten wet or eaten past midnight and his house is overrun with little evil green fruit basket monsters. Pop-culture, folks. There's a silly movie answer to everything. -
The only good reason to live in the buttcrack of the U.S. (ie - Memphis, TN): The only threat of an earthquake is the centuries-old dead New Madrid faultline. Of course, if it ever acts up, most us folks along the Mississippii River are doomed. But it never has, likely never ever will. This what all you Californians get for having a movie-star governor and saltwater within a day's drive.

McPaz - you can feel included on my "People 2 Kill 4 Using Numbers instead of 2-letter words list" - (don't feel bad, The artist formerly known as Prince will always be top on that list). But you are also on my "guy who must die for knowingly making yet another thread about crap that no one has anwers to every 2 weeks or so" list. However, I have many lists and only so many hours in the day. You're probably in no danger. Merry Christmas, just kidding with you.
