Cool... I can call you stupid! Seriously, go ahead and buy away. Just don't get too teary-eyed when the price drops and these are suddenly "sale-priced" on eBay and everywhere else. That's when I may consider buying one. But it would be cool if all of you "stupid" preorders could give me a detailed review before I buy it at a reduced price.

Good idea... if Rohby or someone else needs to borrow my cannon to make the molds, I'm game.

The Trailer for Batman Begins is OUT!

Agreed... but it's just so tied into Tim Burton's visuals... I think a new composer will help the studio reinforce to audiences that this is NOT a continuation of the previous Bat-series. Not too sure about this composer though... seems to me he's been picked because of his past work w/ Nolan than because of his memorable compositions. I like Nolan's films... but I can't remember anything exceptional about the scores in any of them. I think Superheroes movies need a "theme"... worked for Superman, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, etc.. At least there won't be any Prince performing Bat Dance in this movie. -
Really? I thought both of the nominated songs from Cold Mountain were terribly, inexcusably weak. But that's just my opinion. Although Into The West isn't the best song ever, it was much more moving than any of the others (including that lame one from A Mighty Wind, geez I'm getting sick of those movies). As is often the case with you and me, WDC... diff'rent strokes rule the world. Into the West I thought was overwrought and forced... I'm okay with Annie Lennox... but that song is just mushy as hell. The Sting song from Cold Mountain isn't my fave, but Allison Krauss is fantastic. Neither I would classify as "weak." Hell... I thought the song from Mighty Wind was better than Into the West. Even if the jokes from Christopher Guest's ad lib movies are getting a bit stale... the music in that movie was spot on. But the world don't move to the beat of just one drum.

Hmm... I think it deserved the win in every category... except for best original song. I think most of the music from Cold Mountain was definitely better. I also loved City of God... most people that saw it with me were amazed by it's energy and grittiness. But to each their own. My only gripe about what LotR didn't win was where they were completely unrecognized... in acting. I think McKellen deserves an Oscar for his Gandalf. Actually, what I really wish was that there was an ensemble acting award. In my opinion, that is where LotR would definitely deserve another win. But the Academy doesn't do ensemble awards... a shame.

Dude, when you have that much money and can afford personal trainers and dieticians out the yin yang, there's no wordly excuse for looking like a fat hairy slob. I mean, he makes Ron Jeremy look clean and thin by comparison, and that's saying something! Dude... he's a guy... who cares how he looks? Quite seriously, I'd rather have him look like a cross between Survivor's Rupert and Ron Jeremy and make great films than have him look like Michael Bay... and make Michael Bay films. I'm just thrilled they cleaned house at the Oscars... finally a movie that deserves the wins. Took the Academy long enough.

Amen. But it's also sad that Shawn had to. I wish some of the folks around here understood what this site should be all about.

I'm all about the Glaug. Any Regults would be a great follow up! Just killer designs that have been waaaaay underutilized as toys.

On my way to Wal-Mart... bye now!
-
Cool... thanks for the great review, Graham... very fair and informative, as always. I think I'm gonna pass on this one, though. I'm just not that big a fan of the Rau. I'd pay for a Glaug or a Regult... maybe we'll get one of those next. Okay, the rest of you can go back to acting like kids fighting over Pokemon cards.

It's that chicken voodoo that you do so well. Now voodoo me up a 1:48 GBP! Er... that one's gonna take a lot of chickens.. Give Jobu about 2 years...

When I first read it, I thought it was Mizugi, or "swimsuit," which makes no damn sense either... Gazizza, Dilznoofus, this is Bill McNeal saying, get with the crazappy taste of Rocket Fuel Malt Liquor!

Actually, it looked to me like the mecha had pooped out a Millia. Or maybe that was just my impression based on his disappointment with the Q-Rau.

The real question you need to ask yourself... "Do I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?" J/K... I say screw the "Robotech isn't real" mentality and collect the toys you enjoy.

The Trailer for Batman Begins is OUT!

That debutted at the SDCon. Everyone was going nuts when they screened it. I had to run out because I was afraid it was going to turn into the world's biggest circle jerk. Not a big fan of Robert Rodriguez but I guess he impressed FM with whatever short he shot to get him to be a co-director/collaborator. Hope it turns out well. I have the same problem with RR as I do with Tim Burton, where they prefer the look of a set more than a live action look. Same here... I love RR... but only sometimes... He really does his best work when he keeps it simple. I only hope none of his campy humor comes into play. I don't want laughs with Sin City. I'm guessing his "set look" for Sin City probably has a lot to do with using the camera to acheive a visual that pulls off the stark black and white of Sin City. Rodriguez has gotten heavily into doing his own effects (hell, he does everything from hold the camera to compose score) and I'm guessing that he's come up with a way to make it look like the comic. As long as Frank's on board... I'm in. Rodriguez even claimed that Miller was going to be his co-director... I'm not sure how literal to take that. -
Don't forget they'll also be using a boat! Wookie Boat!
-
Don't you realize this board is run by "The Anti-Tranny"? Seriously, there are alot of TF fans here and there are some people who dislike the toys/series immensely... but I think the majority of us appreciate the nostalgic love of the original toys and reissues. The reissues and Binaltech/Masterpiece toys are a good sign that TF is acknowledging the older fans. To be honest, I haven't given a rat's ass about any of the shows (other than the originals on DVD) or new toy lines in a long time. I'll let the kiddies play with that. I don't see much need in "defending" TF... it is what it is... some folks will like it, others won't. Saw this on the Onion and thought I'd post... at least one Tranny is OUT and PROUD!

They only listen to my posts... the rest of you are screwed.

I wouldn't worry about these two - cause if I have my way, if Yamato doesn't release them in 1/48, I will... Yeah, and if they don't then hopefully Spiff will grace us with another VF-1D conversion kit like he did for the 1/60's. We need a begging emoticon. Word... except I'm begging Yamato... I'm not talented enough to much with custom kits, paint, etc... I want a factory made 1/48 VF-1D, VT-1, and VE-1.
-
It is absolutely worth the money... fact is, if you have the money to even consider it - do it. The TV FAST packs are awesome and different than the DYRL packs in both color and arm armor style. Not to mention every 1/48 just plain goes from looking pretty cool to looking f'ing amazing once you slap the armor on. Even if you choose not to display the toy with the armor, just having it makes the value of the toy higher. Think about it... in 10 years if someone is putting together a 1/48 collection, would that person want to buy the toy with or without the packs? I heart my 1/48 Super VF-1J.

The Trailer for Batman Begins is OUT!
Blaine23 replied to Anubis's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, the thing about Dead End that you have to understand, KingNor - is that it's not a story, much less a Batman story. Some guys did it all by themselves to use as a resume for their camera, costume, and effects work. There's no real plot... I'm sure they threw in Aliens, etc to show off what they can do. The side effect is that their Batman footage was universally praised by comic fans everywhere... they nailed the look completely. Critiquing the appearance of Aliens in Dead End is sorta like questioning why do I need my past work experience on my resume... it's there to help you land gigs. -

Huh, what? Lots of the old untra-violence? Real horror-show? Plenty of ultra-violence, Alex. Mainly (the first GN, Sin City) is all about a big tough bastard named Marv who gets double crossed, then goes around killing people in the rain and darkness after meeting the perfect woman, a stripper. F'ing beautiful, man. Here it is on Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=books&n=507846]Sin City[/url]. The art is incredible, it's brutal and glorious. Very A1. If you dig it, Check out the other SC books... That Yellow Bastard is a personal fave. -

They wanted to translate Year one to movie. And I heard Frank Miller even translated his Year-One story to script but in the end, they went with their current idea. Miller teamed up with Darren Aronofsky (Pi, Requiem For A Dream) and worked up the Year One pitch and script... but ultimately the studio went with Nolan - who's also very, very good. But now, Ain't It Cool News is saying that Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez (Desperado, Spy Kids) are working together on a Sin City movie... now that could be totally kick ass. The fact that Miller has even agreed to it, after swearing for years that he'd never, ever let SC be turned into a movie. If there was ever a comic book that Agent ONE would love, 'twould be Sin City. Go get the first graphic novel and take in the glory that is Marv. -
"You're not a real Gundam fan!" "Am so!" "Are not!" Yawn.
