Why are they preachin to the Choir?

Yes, I am this bored today. Poor Gilbert A. Mosko... not only do the pirates steal the food from your babies' mouths... but people call you Brenda. -

I see your point... but you brought up PSA's and movie ads, and thus, you must pay the price of hearing all the bitching. Seriously... has anyone ever seen a Public Service Announcement that informed you of an issue that you weren't aware of and consequently influenced your opinion enough so that you'd actually get involved? Even if that has happened once or twice, how many times has a PSA strictly been a lame "I already know this" time-waster that is essentially the entertainment industry's way of trying to seem as though it has any conscience whatsoever? In between hawking you Coke and McDonald's, I'll take a moment to tell you that doing crack while pregnant is bad, mmkay? I'm just glad that I have never, ever had to sit though this "the 20" crap... that is just pure evil. -
Well... it has been reported several times that the Macross Plus toys were basically Toycom/Yamato's attempt to impress Big West enough to get a new license to make VF-1 toys, as well as gauge fan interest in new transforming Macross toys, both in Japan and the U.S. (obviously the U.S. part of things ended up setting off a rights debacle). So in that case it was more of a market test, but I'd assume that the target age range was similar to what they're doing now. Of course, Macross Plus is a newer anime and those toys were priced far cheaper by Toycom than what they ended up costing to import. And far cheaper than Yamato's higher price point items, like the 1/48 and the Q-Rau.

I dunno... to be truthful, when is the last time I saw any Public Service Announcement that didn't piss me off? It's always a very one-sided view of a problem, presented like propaganda, designed solely to invoke emotion... or it's just a lame shot of Bon Jovi on a motorcycle saying "I don't do drugs! Drugs Suck!" I was truthfully more bothered by the PSA where the child is shown dangerously close to a pool and the voice-over says, "tell her parents you were too busy getting high to watch her..." That's just awful. You could make the same PSA against damn near anything. "tell her parents you were too busy playing Playstation, going to the bathroom, etc..." Not that I'm some sort of drug advocator... but can't they just stick to pointing out the facts that show why this is something bad? The "stop illegal downloading" PSA is basically just a waste of time and money. People that illegally download aren't going to change their tune because of any PSA... that's a fact. All it does is get old people worked up. Just ask my mom. -
The great thing about custom artists like Jung is that they plunk down $100 + for a toy... and say "well, now I really get to go to work. Me, I just take it out of the box, play with it, and put it on the shelf. Beautiful custom, Jung... as usual... keep 'em coming!

You were in a frat? I guess that explains the doorknob thing. Though I guess I would have expected goats being violated instead of harmless entry hardware. Do you call a Country a cha-cha? That entirely depends on the country, of course...
-
But the hoverboards are what make them EXXXXXXTREEEEEME! I'll wait until I see some decent transforming mecha toys before I think these guys are any different than the go, go power rangers.

Wow... good price, great show... that's an easy decision.

Ummm... can we still say that we like or don't like something without anyone crying? Everybody please remember that if a member thinks a particular toy is crap - he's not making fun of you... but of a toy that he dosn't like. Back on topic... I have both of the Joons toys that Heavy mentioned - BTW - the "white one" is a Hikaru and the "red one" is Millia... it's important because if you say you have a "white Joon's" people will think it's the inferior non-canon red, white, and blue version, not the superior gray Hikaru that you have. Anyway, I have both of the toys... they are good and easily worth around $20 (more if you can get it from some), but since the Bandai reissues came out, the value of Joons valks has dropped drastically. Joons are pretty good (and were definitely the best possible option before the reissues), but they aren't great, by any stretch of the imagination. They are usually loose and the plastic quality is somewhat cheap. Best thing about them is the box, IMHO. I can't see the value going any further down... and there is a possibility that they may eventually be worth more later. I'd just sit on them (figuratively) and maybe one day you can get more for them. Or give 'em to a kid nephew... so they leave your nicer valks alone. Oh, and the MPC... wait a minute... the MPC doesn't have a damn thing to do with this conversation.

Lone Wolf... you are now my best friend. That's awesome that you have those... now I just need to buy a Hase VF-1S... such sacrfice.

toy section becomes a danger zone....

I liked it better when we all talked about how kickass Facts of Life really is. Seriously... why on Earth are certain people here determined to continue arguing about the Q-Rau thread? Both parties were responsible, both sides had people that simply would not stop arguing, even after being warned. The "complainers" are no worse than the "loyalists"... both opinions are valid... just shut up about it once you've made your point. We're all actually far less interested than you think we are regarding your personal war. It all comes down to what was said by a mod once on the old boards - "If you come here mainly to argue, then you're really missing out on what Macrossworld is about... and we don't want such people here" -
Thank god I'm not Agent ONE... I don't think the extra testosterone would fit in my car. I'm Basara... and not surprised.
-
I like the "cyclone inspired" design quite a bit... the toys looked very Power Rangers, though... It'd be cool if they made a large scale toy of that design.

People can (and will) complain about whatever they want. And they almost always do. The problem isn't money, but behavior. There's nothing inherently wrong with complaining about price. "That costs too much for me, I'll skip it... too bad they can't offer it for less" Those who don't feel the same way can disagree. It only becomes a problem when both sides turn it into a fued or flame war and everyone gets pissed. The biggest problem is those that like to argue. If folks would just respect each other's opinions and leave it at that... no locked threads, no angry board members.

Felix was never married in the books. After getting snacked on by the shark, he retires to work for Pinkertons, then is recalled to active duty by the CIA in Thunderball. AFAIK, that was his last appearance in the original books. As for Joe Don Baker? I'm sorry, but he'll always be Mitchell to me. Mitchell....heart pounding...Mitchell!! Blood clotting....Mitchell!! Heh... hadn't thought of that in eons.. But he'll always, always be Buford Pusser in my heart.

I like the original far better than the FP version... sure there are some improvements... but the FP version is just so... so... purple.

Damn those rock! Crap, I just got through buying recast hands. Oh well, let's make some more! DYRL hands are the bomb. Great job, D!

Yep.. I think anybody that wants to replace their sleeve art should go with Garoquel's designs... one, I don't want to do that much work , and two - his designs kick serious ass. As for posting them for download, take it up with him - but I suggest you ask for PDF files, not powerpoint files.

Macross DYRL Super Poseables
Blaine23 replied to VALKYRIE-EXCHANGE.COM's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well... I doubt anybody at HG has even seen the movie.. Just kidding. To their mindset, it's just a different, a repaint, and some funky FAST packs. I'd bet a million dollars that the chest plate still has the same cutout that the 1-seater VF-1's have. They didn't bother to make their VF-1D accurate and since they're reusing the arm armor molds from the earlier superposeables, I doubt they'll make any great advancements here. It'll be interesting to see if they change the leg and arm armor... they sorta have to... don't they? -
Wow... that is pretty cool. Paul's the man. I can't wait 'til we can actually finish these up. I'm also psyched to see DA's.

Honestly, and I don't want to be an a-hole even if I sound like one, but we don't frakking care either you got it or not... What the hell is your problem? Just because you cant afford one or cant get one dont hate on him. People like you make places like this un fun. Say YOU dont care, I personally like to here what people get. Im suprised that people dont do more "haul" topics here. I love comming here but its too hospitle like. I got bashed for posting my Low Vis haul. That was a bit rude... there was no need for the profanity. But I actually agree with the essence of Goonk's post. I don't post everything I buy as a new thread - most folks around here don't. If we all did... then we'd have 700 threads about everybody buying what came out that month. A post like this easily could have gone in one of the other 2 current Q-Rau threads. Having pics would have given it a bit more of a reason to exist on it's own... don't take what I'm saying as hostility toward new members, etc... I'm not trying to be rude or tell you that you can't post that you just bought something - but it would be easier on the mods, members, etc, if you just posted this to one of the existing threads. Otherwise we end up with too many threads about the same stuff. The front page holds about 16 threads, other than the pinned thread. Do you guys think there are at least 16 different people on MW who have bought the Q-Rau? If each of them made a "I bought one" thread, then we wouldn't have any space left for discussions about upcoming products, rumors, custom toys, etc... It's just common sense, folks... let's not clutter up the board and force the mods to lock and delete a bunch of similar threads when we can easily post to the ones that already exist on the same subject.

Alien Resurrection..... enough said. Actually, from all the interviews, Joss has never been intimately involved in any movie - he's either submitted scripts that were taken and changed into something totally different (Alien Resurrection), or doctored up a few lines (X-Men) So really you can only judge his work by FF eps like Serenity, Our Mrs Reynolds and Objects in Space which he wrote and directed Agreed... the dude's taken waaaay to many hits over Alien Resurrection. By the end of it, it definitely wasn't his film or Junet's... but the product of studio dictation. A Firefly movie could be really kickass... I'm still bummed they're cancelling Angel - it's better this season than ever.

This thread still makes me wish somebody could dig up VF1X's custom DRYL superposeables from the old board..
