I'm sorta ashamed at how good about myself this thread makes me feel.

I'm so happy that I don't read Japanese... because that is simply awesome without knowing anything about it. Sorta like being drunk and watching Telemundo with only a bit of high school spanish. BTW - The Seagal vs. the Alien was really cool... but it's even better if you throw in the line - "I'm looking for Ritchie? Anybody here Ritchie?!" every few frames.

How many years have you been posting here?
Blaine23 replied to Skull 0ne's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I started lurking from nearly the beginning, but I didn't begin posting until a little under 3 years ago. Right about the time Yamato was releasing the first 1/60's, Bandai was reissuing the Hikaru 1J, and right before Toynami announced the Masterpiece Hikaru 1J. Good times. -
Somebody got to teach those kids a lesson! They're slowly destroying this site. They need to be brought to heel. But they cannot destroy what is stronger than a million folds of steel.

Dude... Grand Theft Auto is repetitive... but you go on to praise Halo? Halo is without a doubt the most repetitive game I've played since Pong. I love the game... but c'mon...

Yes. It has been pushed back a few months. Don't worry, this sort of thing happens so just be patient. I'm sure they pushed it back for a good reason. I for one would rather have a toy without QC problems than wait a few extra months... y'know? As for the release date, listen to Joel, he knows as much as anyone else. The current scheduled release date is May.

Silly rabbits... It's funny that the paranoid fear thread always shows up after somebody visits Japan and realizes that Macross isn't sold on every street corner and doesn't have a theme park over there. Do you see Toynami Robotech Masterpiece toys in every store in the US... I don't, but apparently they're doing fine. Same goes for most collector shop toys, domestic or import. It's a niche market and Yamato knows this. Give them some credit. Also... even if Yamato does slow down with the 1/48 VF-1 line... there's always the possibility of bigger scale Mac Plus valks, Mac Zero valks, and the other 9 million valk designs found in Kawamori Designworks. So now that we've established that Macross fever isn't running rampant across Japan, maybe we can all be patient and enjoy the toys as they come.

Why are they preachin to the Choir?
Blaine23 replied to Agent ONE's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
i guess you're right, i just have little tollerance for people complaining about stuff they willingly endure. and i doubt he's complaining to the movie guy, he's just complaining to us. anyway, yeah. i can bitch and moan all i want, if you don't like it, get outa america! You can take my right to bitch and moan when you pry it outta my cold, dead fingers! -
Whoa... I think something is definitely afoot here. An agreement between BW and HG could be wonderful news if it's done properly... no more Toynami Macross... hello imported Yamato. And I don't buy this RT.com is a store theory... I don't see them selling Evangelion or Gundam over there. This is something bigger.

The roll of each mecha in the Macross universe
Blaine23 replied to APU's topic in Movies and TV Series
Ummm.. the GBP is definitely not designed for ground combat and defense... that's pretty much a destroid job. In the TV series the GBP was used in space, where it's bulk could easily be manuvered by the foot thrusters and boost packs on its back. -
Hmmm... you may think FPS games are the bomb... many do... but not a one has sold anywhere close to 1.4 million units in 2 days like GTA: Vice City did. GTA: San Andreas will be HUGE... if the last 2 games were any indication in their recordbreaking sales figures. Killzone and Nam 67 look like fun FPS... but neither will touch GTA as a cultural video game phenomenon.

The other thread was better... for one simple reason. Wookie Boat! -
I played the GTA twinpack on X-Box... and yes, some of the graphics are a bit spruced up... but not different enough for me to wait any longer than I have to for San Andreas. I'm just glad that Rockstar didn't give the X-Box any extra levels... that wouldn't be fair to the billions who paid full price for the game when it came out.

Apparently other people expressing a negative opinion is more than enough to get you to bitch and moan, though. Your argument has the same mentality of "you don't like something about America... then MOVE!" Not going to see a movie won't stop stupid PSA's and commercials... but complaining to theater owners will. As does spreading negative sentiment in public. Most of Hollywood is keenly aware of internet gripes... go look at the effect of negative pre-release reviews on Aint It Cool News on films. People in Hollywood want your cash and if enough people "whine and moan" they will change things. Why do you think movies have alternate endings? Studios like to make folks happy, then have them shut up and eat their popcorn. Your argument would make sense if you were talking about selling goods, but in the entertainment industry, negative buzz is a profit killer. If you don't believe me, find out how many people went to see Gigli. -
No one ever knows what Bandai is planning. But when the question is about Macross items, the answer is almost always, "nothing."

What the article says is pretty cool and it's very neat to see sci fi concepts becoming reality... But looking at that picture makes me want to yell, "RUN FORREST RUN!" -
Wow! Congratulations, Kev... How cool would it be if your Dad was a Macross importer? Lucky kid!

I love Halo, but JSA's right... it's better to wait and buy on the PC, if you can only buy one system. And from the sounds of what you're looking for - I'd say get a PS2. Besides... why get anything else when this is coming in October... yeah, it might come out for X-Box... in a year or so.
-
Why not? I'm filling my case with nothing but Porn!
-
I like them both... but the top one has kinda been "tainted" with it's use as a bootleg cover - old crappy Macross bootleg. And to be truthful, neither image really "fits" in to the existing cases... the style is more modern - less paint, more photoshop. I think maybe we should stick to what we've done... maybe we can redesign it 10 years when DVDs are obsolete and everybody's watching the entire series on a postage stamp.

Heh... from The Onion... -
Actually... Rhona Mitra is on The Practice and has been in several films. Rhona Mitra and Nell McAndrew are way I said largely anonymous, as opposed to completely anonymous. Rhona's done pretty good, but there's a huge difference between being Bailey's girlfriend on Party of Five and the assaulted girl in The Hollow Man... and being paid tens of millions like Angelina was for those awful Tomb Raider movies. The difference clearly outlines B-movie stardom and A-list. But as a conselation prize, Rhona Mitra is hot as hell. She's just far less wealthy and famous than Angelina.

Heh... ask the 30 (largely anonymous) women who were "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" on various magazine covers and game shows... being a real life representation of a video game girl... doesn't really launch the career, does it? When all's said and done, when it's time to make a couple of multimillion dollar films... they get Angelina Jolie.
