Yup... the studios have gotten smart. Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, the Harry Potter kids, the LotR gang... these folks all have contracts more airtight than a nuclear sub, binding them to sequels. I just think they should do the same with the directors. Changing directors can seriously change the mood of a film series. I'm just glad they seem to have Raimi and Singer aboard to keep doing X-men and Spidey movies. Of course, I think the new Harry Potter director will be the best the series will ever have.

Heh... you'd think you guys had found out your valks have Ebola. They are toys, after all... even if they do cost an arm and a leg. I'm just waiting for one of you to show off a newly installed vacuum sealed vault where the toys are viewable through 8 inches of steel and shatter-resistant glass... "There's my favorite toy! It's so much fun!" J/k... I know you guys are seriously concerned about your favorite things... but try to remember the laws of entropy here. Everything falls apart eventually.

Are we really bored enough to dig up this thread?

List the most ugliest Transformer toys out there?
Blaine23 replied to SupremeKaioshin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Eh... it's just too hard to be fair in judging them. The G1 toys often looked nothing like the cartoon, had limited articulation, etc... they were a product of their time, they are made of die-cast... but they can't really hold up to toy standards of today - except in nostaligic value. Everything after... pretty much sucks, to me, the kid that grew up with G1. Beast Wars were okay... but I don't really like the robot designs... and very plasticky. All the Armada & Energon is too kiddy, etc. To be honest, I think the new Binaltech and Masterpiece toys are the only thing I've been remotely interested in, from and old fan's perspective. Something about a toy series with this many incarnations... it's just too difficult to be objective. -
Damn you, Drifand... I had pretty much convinced myself that I didn't want these two. Great review and pics, as usual.

Will Smith in the movie = I will hate it All he can do is play one character, the smart ass urbanite punk. Every role he has been in (except for Six Degrees of Separation, which he totally bricked) he plays a wise-ass trash talking jerk who somehow saves the day... Seen it, taped it, erased it. But he's so fun and sassy! And I just can't get enough of hearing about him and his wife and their kids... :vomit: Agreed in full. This looks like another piece of Will Smith dreck. Though I wouldn't go so far as to say he's raping my childhood... I wasn't goob enough to read Asimov until college.

Good for you. No.

If someone wants the Max or Millia TV Blue and Red Colored FP seperately, I will part out VF-1J Max and Millia sets. Otherwise, Yamato has not indicated any plans to release without them. PM me and I'll set it up I'm trying my darndest to imagine any scenario where somebody would want the Max or Millia FAST packs, but not the valks... Good luck with that, Neova.

Yep... except there's no Doug Llwelyn... In all seriousness, we try to keep the board the way Shawn wants it. He pays the bills for us to post all these opinions and we respect that. We also try and respect the mods for having to deal with locking/moving threads, fighting members, etc. It's just the way we do things around here and most of us are cool with it and see the logic in it.

A Jumbo Machinder would step on it Yeah, but it'd be made of girly plastic and the foot-tall die-cast EVA would laugh at it.

Mechamaniac's a size queen. Sad to say, I agree with them completely... if those EVA figs were about a foot tall... how much would they rock?
-
I took out my little TRON pic and changed my sig, no need to hear comments like that anyway. Hey just razzing you man... Geez EXO... way to pick on him... Next thing you know you'll be telling me that my unabashed love for Eddie Money is wrong. Take me home tonight... Welcome to the boards, Blue Cyclone... you'll learn to ignore everybody pretty soon enough.

Paint chipping rules. I'll just come on out and say it. If a valk was real, don't you think it'd probably have some severe paint chipping?
-
Yep... something I need to go buy. Good review, Pat.
-
I suppose when you're packing that much damn firepower, you can paint your valk whatever color you like. I agree, though... I've always imagined it battleship gray and black, when looking at his Designworks sketches.

The Joon's boxes were styro and DEFINITELY based off the old Taka boxes. The new bootlegs are just lame. Joons valks had some style, if they were a bit loose and cheapish.

Good point... we ARE actually getting along and playing nice, so far. But this is a subject that has been argued to death many times in the past and definitely HAS gotten nasty, in terms of personal insults and general upsetness. The mods hate dealing with it when it gets ugly, so everybody do your best to stay civil and all is well. Debate all you want... but most of the old-timers here and pretty bored with the subject - myself included. I made my suggestion to the new guy and I'm done with it. I'd rather enjoy my toys than debate about them.

The first animated female on the cover of MAXIM?!?

$_$ Word. [AgentONE mode] I'd nail her. And spend her money. [/AgentOne mode] But... to quote Kevin Smith - -
Join the club... Now let the ranting about Bandai loving Gundam more than Macross begin. Maybe one day it'll happen.

Mmmmm.... Takatoku goodness. That toy has a nostalgia factor of 10. I'd say keep it together, in it's kickass packaging and enjoy it. The reissue is great, but it's a good deal on a classic and I'd keep it the way they released it. Congrats, Seph.

Nothing against LebHead. But the fact is that nobody is unbiased. And, when you go out of your way to appear unbiased, you tend to overlook a lot of things that would otherwise be noted as flaws. Looking at the Toynami overview on that page, it seems like a white-wash to me. It's more of a history lesson than a review. There is no mention of sculpt accuracy or even general appearance. It only vaguely refers to people getting upset about die-cast content and "QC issues." So, well. . . I think the bias in that review is to seem unbiased. But when you try too hard to seem unbiased, you end up being too nice to all sides. Some things deserve criticizm. Just my 2 cents. H I see your point... but I found the review to be a good overall comparison. My intention with that word was to imply it was written by a fan of Macross AND RT... not one or the other. I'm not going to get into a semantics argument over the use of the word, "unbiased", however... save that for your debate club. My point was simple... alot of people like this toy over that toy and it's up to that person to make the decision. 200 people could (and probably will) reccomend Yammie over Toynami (myself included), but if 1 person disagrees - does that make his opinion invalid? Nope, just unpopular. Either way, this thread pops up every month or so and the bloodletting begins anew. Seems a waste of time, effort, and bandwidth. Personally, I'll let people make up their own minds as to what they like. If you have a criticism of Leb's review, then take it up with him. Or better yet, attempt to do one yourself.

Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex Season 1

Nice... Looks like some killer animation. No big surprise there - but I am glad it's coming to R1 so quickly. -

Ew... she's chunky and has a lisp... Besides how much more do you really need to see of Drew Barrymore? She's was in Playboy naked already.
