Any sort of scale worth owning it would have to be HUGE? No, not at all. To be at the same scale as any of the valk releases, it would have to be huge... but I don't see any reason in the world it should be. The variable monster could be 1/144th and still be a great, affordable, transforming toy. You folks have to get over this whole scale thing. This is about making good and playable toys, not creating a world at a scale you like. With this kind of anti-logic, we'll never see any SDF-1 or other large scale mecha. As long as the toy is right size in your hands, what does the rest matter?

Yup... I have 2 of these, one from my childhood, and one bought a few years back on eBay, MIB, for $50 bucks. The mechanisms of the Cyclone's transformation are incredibly advanced and among the best toy transformations made to this day, IMHO. The only area where the toy sorta fall flat is the limited articulation of the Stig figure. They've come a long, long way with articulated action figures since then. It's like GobotFool says, Stig can't sit properly on his iron horse, due to his crappy limited hip and leg movement joints. But man, it's a fantastic toy in every other way.

StarWars Episode 3 SCRIPT - by George Lucus!
Blaine23 replied to CaptRico's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You know... one of the reasons I'm glad LotR overshadowed the Star Wars prequels for the last 3 years is so I didn't have to read dumb fanboy dream-storylines. That's probably the biggest problem with Star Wars.... unlike LotR, which is a proven story, SW just always seemed like Lucas is making up crap as he goes along sometimes. Funny stuff, though. -
Got me... but it reminded me a bit of the same 3rd person GTA-type engine used for Streets of LA, etc... I hope it has some open ended gameplay. Of course, I'd buy any Cowboy Bebop game.
-
True... but it's a typical rumor with a pretty good source.. Matt Alt over at Toyboxdx knows his stuff and he seems reasonably sure that it's legit. I'd say I'm leaning toward believing this.
-
I would love for this to be true, as well. I would also love for this toy to be badass and affordable. Of course, things don't always turn out the way I want... so I won't get too excited yet. I'll let the usual suspects around here do that for me.

I think your Toynami Roy put a hex on you as you shuffled him toward the door. Seriously, I've never dropped a Yammie... but the thought alone is enough to make my stomach turn loops.

Look at the thread... I believe EXO posted some pics of his valk with the hands on an earlier page - look for them. As for what they are... well, that answer you can find in the title of the thread. If you don't understand what 1:48 TV hands means, then I'll let you know they refer to the hands included in Yamato's newest 1/48 toys, specifically the Hikaru 1J.

Damn good episode... but not as good as this week's. Using 'roids at the Special Olympics takes the cake.

Anime Artists In Japan Work For Peanuts!
Blaine23 replied to isamu's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I hear that the guy who made my fries at McDonald's doesn't make much money either. What a shock. -
Hello my little friend! Smiles, smiles everyone! I guess I don't need a monkey, if I got Tattoo!
-
Here's my point of view... save your money... don't spend it on toys. Who needs toys? Instead, take all your cash (and trust me, once you start buying them, you'll be sucked in like the rest of us and buy tons) and walk away. You've still got a chance, brother. Then accumulate that cash over a few months. And buy... a monkey. Yep, a real monkey. They can do things, like fetch beers and remote controls. They're a close companion for when times are rough. Don't worry about poo - most of them can wear a diaper. Sure, you gotta change it... but what a little diaper changing compared to worrying about chipped paint, yellowing, and keeping up with all the valk toys that come out? It's just an opinion, probably won't be that popular... but if someone offered me a good, beer fetching monkey... I might give up my valk collection. Okay... not ALL my collection. I'd keep my Yamato 1/48 VF-1S Roy w/ the FAST packs. I can't give that one up. I guess that tells you which valk you should get. Even a good trained monkey couldn't make me give up that valk.

Great job, Red... the revised 2nd version is definitely a great looking box.
-
Agreed... you covered just about everything I hate about every single McFarlane toy I've ever bought. It's the only toy brand I reccomend someone NEVER taking out of their package. Another one was the 12" LotR figures... I bought Gandalf and was just completely shocked by how unbelievably crappy the fig was. I never bought another one. Total POS. Bad sculpt, bad costume, bad accessories, bad poseability. A true 0 out of 10. I'll also add both 12" Star Wars collector's edition Chewbacca figures. The first was a furry plush toy with a core made of wire, apparently... the second was a big hunk of immobile plastic. Is Chewie really that hard for Hasbro to figure out?
-
Thanks for the update Graham! It looks pretty good... the hips are definitely a put off. But I've known since it was announced that I'll probably only pick up one of these lil' babies... I'm just not a big fan of small toys or parts swapping. This definitely looks like this could be a fun lil' toy to have around, though. And I AM a fan of the VF-0 design... unlike alot of the naysayers here. Those that don't like the design of the VF-0... well, of course you're not gonna like this toy!

That sums it up pretty nicely. Sometimes it's hard to like (or dislike) something and not get caught in the hardcore haters and lovers... And Evangelion is one of those series that polarizes a great many people... love it or hate it... it definitely causes pretty strong emotions from viewers. How many other anime can you say that about?

If I get the New EVA Director Cuts, Do I Still....
Blaine23 replied to Kamui 777's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I have a wallscroll of the Vol. 7 Asuka pic, so that's not too much of a worry. Losing Misato is a shame though. That Asuka cover is EASILY the best of the series. I don't have a case for mine, so I just shoved the DC discs inbetween the series and the movies... I'm sure I'll never watch the old ones again, but it's not really worth trying to get rid of them. -
Agreed... the Vader image is tight. The recreation of the original poster looks kinda goofy, IMHO. Either way, I always liked the old video release covers (gold and silver), so this one is fine with me.
-
Heh... which makes the bootleggers pretty much the same as the legit companies, in that regard.
-
Depends on who you ask... and even then, take half of what you hear with a big grain of salt. Personally, I think Evangelion is my favorite anime series - easily my favorite other than Macross.
-
Chris Columbus wasn't signed on to direct all of the Potter series? It's also too bad that Burton didn't want to direct Batman Forever. Nope, Columbus did a fair job on the first 2... But Alfonso Cuaron is directing the 3rd... which is my favorite of the books and should be just plain kickass. Mike Newell will be doing the 4th... which could be good, but he's no visionary like Cuaron. I still they think they should have went with Rowling's original choice... Terry Gilliam. Now, that would have been a killer HP director.

Trendmaster's Jumbo Voltron III
Blaine23 replied to StealthLurker's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yep... the Trendmasters rereleases were top notch. Great quality, affordable price, etc... And sadly, most of them went on discount fairly quickly... which is great for us cheapskates, but that put an end to their rereleasing rather quickly. I prefer the smaller diecast Voltron next to it in the first picture... it only weighs about 3 tons... awesome. -
Just a quick shout-out to the Lone Wolf - Those of you who are actually buying these boxes - - He's been great about scanning art and helping me and DA put these boxes together. I just wanted to say thanks again for the scans and I appreciate your help. The fact that he has all 3 M+ artbooks is a good sign... assuming we can get one made after the Macross boxes are done.

110 episdoes? That's a boatload of anime... Sign me up... I wonder who'll end up releasing it in R1? If it were ADV, it would only be spread out on 142 discs...
