I think Yamato's full of smart guys... they certainly realize these 1/48's are selling well... I think they'll come up with a way to do some 2 seaters. I'd much rather have a VF-1D (my personal favorite valk), VT-1, and VE-1 rather than TV Max or Kakizaki, or more DYRL variants. At this point, the only 1-seater 1/48 I'd buy would be the CF... and that makes me sad. I want to blow more money on this design! I love each and every 1/48 I've gotten and I'd love to see more of the classic TV and movie designs - particularly the more interesting ones with different heads and armors.

The Yamato 1/48 line, Bandai 1/55 line, the Toynami Masterpiece line, Banprestos, and the old Bandai HCM's and Joke Machines - these do NOT require any removing any parts to transform them. The Yamato 1/60 line of VF-1 toys require removing the legs and reattaching them to complete the transformation.

It's not the size that intimdates me... just their lack of experience. If I spend enough for a big one... I want an expert behind it. BTW - glad you dig the Spidey fig, AF. I'm still nutso over mine.

It's in the box marked "GAH!! The Sentinels! My eyes! My eyes!", isn't it?

A question for those who like the VB-6 and are planning to get one... Is anybody besides me a bit nervous about this thing already? I'm all for it - I think it's great that Yamato is releasing a large size new transformable mecha that probably would never be released otherwise... But all that said... new designs mean new factory problems. Even the 1/48, which is my highest mark for Yamato's design and engineering had some issues that they fixed up on later releases. Now we all know that a toy of this size will most likely be at least $150. And we don't seem to be getting as many advance reviews from Graham these days. As much as I'm psyched about this toy... I think at this point, I'd probably wait and see what a few of our members had to say about it before I ordered one. I want to be totally thrilled and have no reservations... but spending that kinda of money on an untested design makes me a bit spooked. Just curious if anyone else was thinking the same thing, I guess.

CF stands for Canon Fodder, which is a nickname for the Brown Production VF-1A that all of the "regular" pilots in Macross fly... basically anybody that's not Hikaru, Max, Miria, or Roy. Yamato made 2 different versions of the CF in 1/60, a TRU limited edition and a regular release. It's only a matter of time before we see one in 1/48, as it is just a repaint of the already made VF-1A's. Yamato's CF in 1/60

Same here... but that is freaking cool as hell.

Cool! I can't wait to get mine... thanks for the pics, Jesse!

Word. It won't keep me from sleeping at night to know that Max and Millia's rear thighs are different.

Hey feel free to share your feelings - nobody likes it when they realize they paid more than they could have if they'd waited... but it happens to all of us, so don't let it get you down. Sometimes it works out in your favor to wait, sometimes it don't... I usually tell myself that if I didn't want the toy enough to pay full price for it when it came out, then I obviously don't want it more now that it's gone up in value. The tricky part is ignoring that little demon in your head that says, "buy everything! You want everything!"

As for the limitations of Yamato producing valks that appear both in VF-X2 and M7, it totally depends on the exact verbage of Big West's contracts with both Bandai and Yamato. Since we don't know what that is, we have to assume that Yamato and BW are aware completely of what they can and cannot do. We'll just wait and see what they do and don't release.

Do you mind if I ask you a question? Why do you care whether or not a toy is worth a bunch to collectors? I mean, if you want to buy something, hope it appreciates in value, then turn around and sell it - you should probably get into the stock market, not toys. If $150 seems like too much for bookends when they come out... why would you want them if they're $400 now? Now they're really overpriced. I don't get the intention that you are trying to buy toys to make money... I think that you just hate not having something that has appreciated in value... which is silly, really. Buy what you like, who cares if it goes up in value if you don't plan on selling it? I know it's easy to get some sort of a thrill out of buying a valk at $100, then seeing others pay twice or three times as much for it - but that's fleeting and it doesn't really make the toy on your shelf any better or worse because of it. It's just my opinion, but you'll be a lot happier in the long run if you don't care about all that crap.

Discussion about when/where/why regarding the Yamato YF-19FP have shown up in pretty much every thread in this section lately...

Shall we submit her sob story to the folks on ABC's Extreme Makover??? -K Or MTV.... "I'm a poor RTV plastic Miriya wannabe...and I wanna get MADE! " No, but she can compete with other manly female figures to be chosen to be... the Swan. [bad English Accent] "Look in the mirror, Miria... you ahhre beautiful..." [/bad English Accent]

Yep, that's the one... a killer episode, funny, and more Macross nostalgic than anything else in M7 or Plus. But... taken out of context by those who've never seen the show... you get this silliness.
-
Cute... but you'd also need some sort of giant enlarging machine along with your superglue to get a 1/100 monster to be a 1/60, homey.
-
The VB-6 is not the same Monster MKII from SDF:Macross. And if you read a few pages of "the canon wars" a few pages back, it was pointed out that the VB-6 appears and transforms in VFX-2.

Yep, I just bought a Hasegawa VF-1S from them about a week ago and it was great. Definitely a good seller.

Dude... I've seen your Mac Plus box designs... you've got a photo editor. Just pick the area you want, blow it up a bit and maybe brighten/contrast toggle until you see the details. Or we could be all CSI about it and we'll look at a grainy video tape and you'll go "Stop the tape! There! In the left corner! Enlarge that license plate" Then somehow a 3 cm high black speck will become a sharp picture 4000X increased in size with an easily readable license number...

Now that you mentioned it.................a conspiracy theory perhaps? Gak! Not more Yamato conspiracies! Please god no! Apparently they are worse than the freakin' Illuminati. I submit that this post was not actually made by Blaine, but in fact was a Yamato spin control specialist logged in as Blaine. Or perhaps Blaine has been one of them all along....? He's the mole? "Dammit!" :Flips open communicator/wristwatch: "Cover's blown! Operation must be terminated. Proceeding with evac as specified." :Pulls out a gun with silencer and shoots everyone in the room: :Looks around, then closes the door quietly behind him:
