Agreed... excellent photography, gqhaha!

I can see that... but the only one I'll miss is Nina. I don't know why, but I was rather hot for her evil-ness. I think it's way overdue for them to develop some more new interesting characters rather than rely on bringing back old ones anyway. Surely they can do better for new rogues than they have thus far. The GQ/Billy Zane crew of Euro-terrorist/stylists led by Saunders don't impress me that much. Brad the New Boss was more terrifying and he's got no virus canisters at all.

Agreed. Me and the G/F actually clapped. We clapped even more when Julia shot that bitch dead. I dunno... I'm curious to see what the finale is gonna be... it seems almost anti-climactic at this point, since Saunders is captured, the evil bitch is dead, and all the hostages plays are done. I'm thinking it'd be cool if Jack freed Tony and they went rogue. I'm guessing they've got some sort of heavy downer "whoa" ending planned. Of course nothing will ever beat the first series finale. Dead Teri... that was awesome.

Star Wars OT on DVD - Official - Sept 21st
Blaine23 replied to Blaine23's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
yeah, didn't Fox do the same thing with Aliens? Reread the title of thread and the first page. "This is not a democracy" - ie, George don't care if that's what you want. He's gonna release Star Wars the way he wants. Until one day he decides to do it right and make us all pay for the trilogy again. -
Unformed Misa. Yecch. Sacrilege!! Misa look quite good in that DYRL bridge uniform. I think he meant "unformed" as in a pile of goop. Uniformed Misa, however, is quite nice.

Star Wars OT on DVD - Official - Sept 21st

Cool.. maybe he'll add Jake Lloyd yelling "Yipppeee!" while Hayden's ghost shows up. That'd really bring things full circle. -
As far as I know, the old avatars that Lebhead had made and posted has gone the way of the buffalo, along with the old board.

who any why was this topic closed

I really think it was doomed from the beginning for being unnecessary and full of homophobic ranting... But what really pushed it over the edge was the use of "pork" as a verb. Pigs really hate that. -
Oh, I dunno.. maybe because he asks every week, he's already bought one that he'll get to inspect the bejeezus out of as soon as it arrives... All I'm sayin is - once you get this bootleg APU, I expect to see a seriously detailed review of it. With detailed pics. Now everybody be nice.

It's a keeper, MM. As the designer of the Mech box, that's better than I would have thought it could be. I'm saving that to my hard drive. Good work Paul and Garoquel. And of course, Mechamaniac, whose truly kept this whole thing going. You da man.

Now hold still this will only hurt a lot
Blaine23 replied to Knight26's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I would like to keep an adjective name, brick and mule may be good nicknames, but for an official ship class name an aggressive name would be more appropriate. Do you really think that any current aircraft really would have been appropriated if their unoffical nicknames were their official names? (Well maybe the Warthog, but that's it.) True dat. But never forget, in certain circumstances, a brick can be an effective weapon! -
Schwarzenegger returning to the big screen in 2006

That article sounds really, really certain that Arnold might be considering possibly returning to acting, but he's not sure. -

There you go. Call it "The Brick." Seems fitting to me. -
It would definitely make the thread more interesting and informative. Let's see some pics! And for the record... magnets rule.

Turner's real skill is in drawing dark hair women with smokey eyes - like Witchblade, or any of the other characters he draws to look like Witchblade. That Flash has to be about the worst I've seen. Why is the Flash almost as muscular as Superman? I wasn't aware that super-speed translated to "'roid physique"... particularly a giant upperbody. To be honest, these pics look like Rob Liefeld. And that's not a good thing, in my book.

Does anyone else feel like Minmay got kinda....
Blaine23 replied to Max Jenius's topic in Movies and TV Series
I always thought of Misa/Minmay as basically story foils to show 2 different paths for Hikaru. Misa - the military, proper, duty way of life Minmay - impetous, fun, less responsibility type of life It seems to me in Macross that both Hikaru and Minmay have to grow up in a hurry to survive the war and in doing so, Hikaru grows up first and finds himself needing someone who understands that - like Misa. Minmay eventually gets to that point, but too late. Ultimately I always thought of Minmay as the kind of girlfriend you had that it would've never probably worked out with, but you loved in that ridiculous youthful "first love" kinda way. As far as feeling sorry for her treatment in Macross, I never got the impression that she couldn't have anything she wanted, except for Hikaru - so I never felt that sorry for her. DYRL, I think we can all agree, is much more sympathetic to Minmay. -
What's your collection philosophy?
Blaine23 replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Like MM, I almost only buy toys that are big - preferably around 12" or so. But, I make exceptions quite a bit. The SOC Evas and the Mac Plus 1/72's are good examples. I love those mecha designs and that's about as good as I can get... for now. -
Well, one reason that seems pretty big to me is that the mechanics of what would work at full-size wouldn't work at 1/72 size. Real life Screws have to be a certain size, the super-thin swing bars won't work, etc... Not to mention the full-size CAD model... is still just used for animation. Once you start creating products for reality, certain things have to be adjusted. Factor that in with shrinking such a large object to a minature version, and there you go.

Damned straigt! I second that! Why does this remind me of every Engrish HK DVD sub set I own? You'd think after reading all those subtitles, proper spelling might have been achieved by osmosis or something.

Yes... now it is proven that living in France can make even Americans hate Americans.

Sweet... looks very Mospeada and very Halo at the same time. Now let's all have a quick moment of prayer - "please don't let the gameplay suck, please don't make the gameplay suck"

Manga Entertainment sold to IDT Entertainment
Blaine23 replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I heard that too... yet, ADV and Gainax seem to be pretty chummy with ADV having released the Director's Cut episodes (which supposedly Gainax wanted too much for) and now they're getting ready to release the Renewal versions... so it doesn't seem that bad now. But nobody knows how long Manga's rights to the movies will last anyway. We can all just breathe a little easier knowing that at least Manga wasn't bought by Harmony Gold... I'd vomit if I thought HG somehow got ahold of Macross Plus rights. -
Yep... Y'all all been a-asking fer it. So it's a-gonna have to happen. C'mon, Skull Leader go grab yer cousins! It's time for the South to rise again! Woo-hoo! We're heading out of the Wal-marts looking for battle and you know we're armed! Or... we could just kick back where we're at and enjoy the fact that we've easily got the nicest neighbors, the best tasting food, and the most beautiful women in the U.S. I'll continue to let them think we're the ignorant ones.

Manga Entertainment sold to IDT Entertainment
Blaine23 replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The best thing that could happen is if Manga began operating like (or under) IDT's other company Anchor Bay. They've managed to release great niche-market DVDs for quite some time - titles that other companies would not have released or released without tons of cool extras.
